Hi guys – been a really sad few weeks culminating today in the funeral for a dearly dearly loved relative. He lived a long life and needed his peace but his final weeks caused some family rifts that will probably never mend and I am so lost without him – having spent part of every week for many years doing his chores, taking him places and talking about every topic under the sun.

He had an amazing work history – was a world traveler, even spent a short while in the US, had a wide general knowledge, was great to have a conversation with & he had a wonderful sense of humor – and if possible was more left than me on the political scheme of things. He followed US politics and was a fan of PBO. Having known him since I was 5-6 years old it was interesting to see his views change – 40 years ago he would have been a right winger. Thatcher and Reagan changed all that.

    Thanks for reading

Deep condolences, 99ts. He sounds like a quite a character who lived a full and interesting life. I hope in time the rifts in the family do heal. In the meantime, you honor his memory by sharing his story. I bet he’d love that.

99, I’m so sorry for your loss. From your description, he sounds like my favorite Uncle, whom 10 years later, I still miss every single day. Although your heart aches from such a new loss, I hope that your memories of times shared will bring you comfort.

Family — just keep repeating “I can love them without liking their actions…”

I’m not mocking any perceived health issue, mental or physical, but wouldn’t you think his family and close friends would see this and try to talk him into resigning? To melt down on national TV during an endless string of Sunday morning appearances that make no sense – for what?? A sixth term, a sick feeling of power, plus having nothing else in his life, or he has no clue how he’s coming across? Get the guy a medical check-up.

I would doubt that his family care jacqueline if they let him continue in this fashion – then again, if they tried – imagine the response.

I’m 10 years younger than the senator but I have problems remembering names, places, words – I can imagine that this is part of his aging process. I get incredibly cross with self & end up having to describe to whoever the word/place or I google it using same descriptions. I just can’t put it down to anything other than aging

People like McCain can age even quicker, with all the bitterness they’ve bottled up inside. Rage and bitterness and hatred for “that one” will kill this dude, eventually, for sure. I’m just sorry we all have to watch.

He needs to go back to his yard and yell at kids to get off his lawn (s)…..such an incompetent buffoon!

McCain said that his father died right after he retired and this is what motivates him to keep on working, i.e. running for the Senate. He’s terrified that the moment he quits, he’ll die, so he’s willing to put the American people through the torture of enduring him in the US Senate until he keels over.

Ugh. I like how you pointed out the diff. between his claim to be “working” when really it’s just “running for the Senate” – and appearing like a fool on Sunday talk shows.

Well, I’ll accept our “virtual” fence. Isn’t it wonderful to find friends to share and chat with, clear across the globe?

I hope you are dealing with your loss. You know I’m here for you if you need to talk……
