    Good Morning TOD!

Ms. Chips those pics of PBO on the plane in those jeans have me a little distracted this morning. Kind of hard for a girl to concentrate when fineness abounds.

In my monthly edition of #GrandBabiesRTheBest….Somebody was not happy about going to daycare today. πŸ™‚

Congrats, AMK, and many thanks to Chips for all the wonderful photos this morning. Cloudy in Portland this morning, but it should be sunny and beautiful for President Obama’s arrival late this afternoon. It grieves me deeply that he will not get the adoring welcome of a crowd of 70,000 people downtown like he did in 2008. The Move-On, environmental groups, and AFL-CIO have all decided to be incredibly rude and mistrustful by holding an anti-TPP/TPA rally outside the hotel where he will speak. That will feed a media narrative that he has lost his base. It turns out that my planned counter-rally won’t happen outside because the greatest PBO supporters will be inside the hotel today and at the trade talk at Nike tomorrow. Stay tuned …

Judith, our president knows the people opposing him on TPP/TPA are on the wrong side of history. He’s been through this before and he knows how certain elements on the left operate–strike out first and think later. He will keep on working to get the best trade deal possible with strong safeguards for US workers and the environment and it will be the protestors, not our President, who will end up with egg on their faces.

Well, I turn 65 today. I have my Medicare card, Medigap will start June 1. I need to get my Medicare Part D plan. Reverse mortgage is done.

Now if I could only retire…….. Mr. 57’s answer to providing for my old age was getting me a full-time job with a crazy person! But I still love him.

Happy BD — saw this photo this morning, and want to be on Fran Townsend’s terrace patio now!

Beginning last Fall, I’ve had a craving for Lilies of the Valley, but got confused by the Internet on what to buy (pips? don’t know how to plant/care for pips?!?), so I never ordered any. 😦

I’m a regular at local garden nurseries, but apparently LOVs aren’t carried by our nurseries, so this photo will have to do.

Happy Birthday 57, what a great day. 65 woot!!! ((hugz))) Try Cigna Insurance for the art D. I switched from Humana because they didn’t cover all my prescriptions I might need this year. And it has worked out really well.

        May 7, 2015 at 4:47 pm

Thanks, Roberta! I’ll check out Cigna. They say that you should do that every open enrollment period, to make sure your meds are covered.

What I loved about the co-op ACA insurance I had: even if they didn’t cover a drug, one quick call from the doctor and they covered it. Unfortunately, they are not doing medigap policies this year. They were wonderful.

this is what i do not get….

Why do we have to draft the VP….why not just come out and say you are running or not running and be done with it…i must say i am just smh at all of this

        • 86 jacquelineoboomer
          May 7, 2015 at 3:21 pm

Obviously, I have no inside information. but I kind of figure it’s a way to get the start of a political campaign rolling – and Joe’s people on the ground – early, to get everything underway until he announces. Some of that may be based on when the early states start their campaign events and roundups, etc. (like IA and SC). My personal thoughts are that he’ll run, but wants to continue as much of his 2015 VP work as possible, before he has to hit the campaign trail. The other candidates either don’t have “real work” to do, aren’t coming from a current position of power like being the VP, or – similar to Ted Cruz and/or Marco Rubio and their ilk – don’t show up at their jobs much, anyway. He and his VP staff seem to be picking events for him to attend/speak at that will get the most bang for the buck, and subliminally show (1) he’s not done serving yet, and (2) he’s forward-thinking, as it relates to both domestic and foreign policy.

Could be he and Jill are still deciding, but I prefer to think he’s going to choose his own timing – and earlier (in February), he said he’d make his determination “by the end of the summer,” so he’s standing by that, at least for now.

My take – and I get yours, too.

        • 87 aquagranny911
          May 7, 2015 at 4:23 pm

Because once he declares he will not be able to do all the VP work he is doing now. PBO needs him especially with all these delicate negotiations with Iran & the TPP. Late summer will be plenty of time for him to declare. I’m thinking late August early September. He certainly has not come out & said he won’t run so we will wait & see.
