    What a night.

    How’s everyone?

Went to bed very late. Woke up at 11AM. Now eating waffles, fried eggs and beer.

    Stuffed. 😊😊

TOD peeps, I’m bothered by the statement Mz Strong made last night. I don’t believe she is the First hetero female comedian to appear at the WHCD. Of the three previous; Elayne Boosler, Paula Poundstone & Wanda Sykes, I think Elayne is a hetero female comedian.

    Please weigh in. Thanks!

    • April 26, 2015 at 1:16 pm

Just looked it up GGail, “Boosler is married to Bill Siddons, music industry executive and former manager of The Doors.”

So Strong was wrong, it seems!

Thanks Chips! I too thought she was married, but didn’t look it up – like you did πŸ™‚
Yes, Strong BOMB all the way around!!!!

      • April 26, 2015 at 1:49 pm

I thought the lady who introduced Ms. Strong said she was the first female and Ms. Strong corrected her by saying she was the “first” hetero female to host the comedy which she is apparently wrong there too. I guest they were trying to slam the two gay women who were much funnier than Ms. Strong in my opinion.

    • 30 vcprezofan2
      April 26, 2015 at 2:19 pm

To give her the benefit of the doubt, maybe she meant the first hetero female in the past 6-7 years. πŸ˜‰

She reminded me of the black female comedian (I bet you anything NerdyW would remember her name :D) who many on twitter were trying to recruit to replace Jon Stewart – the one who declined the effort and then had to put a know-it-all columnist in her place for criticizing her decision. Ms Strong reminds me of her because that comedian was intelligent, and self-aware, enough to know her strengths at this period of her development. Based on her performance, IMO Mz Strong didn’t/doesn’t.

Wondering why the national discussion sorrounding what threats law enforcement faces as they do their jobs either just skims over or ignores the huge numbers of guns. The liability of the NRA & their bought elected officials needs to feature more prominently in the cause and effect

In 2014, per one lady on a BBC or Al Jazeera show last week…….there were 11K homicides and 20K who took their own lives using guns in USA.
Until these numbers are part of the daily conversation in toto, nothing changes.

    More still

Now how come the US Media who were quick to tout the rubbish and treasonous acts of the GOPer #47 have nicely ignored these tweets?

    • April 26, 2015 at 1:51 pm

Thank you for posting these important tweets, Nena.

I’m impressed with the significant change that both Khameni and Zarif have had made to their Twitter Home Page – I tweeted about FM Zarif’s yesterday.

      The messages are potent.

As you know, the contents of his tweets were excerpted from a speech he made earlier today to Iranian police officials.

Iran is far from free of brutality toward certain folk – especially Iranian Kurds. But, the behavior of US cops and some of our troops in Iraq, plus the behavior of our Presidents who start illegal wars, makes it very easy for others to point to our hypocrisy.

In any event, these dudes need a reminder and thank you for catalyzing the following tweet πŸ™‚

    What ODS looks like

    • April 26, 2015 at 2:47 pm

But those 4 are the first ready to send our veterans to fight in another war they want to start, they are a bunch of
      disgusting hypocrites.

    • 71 vcprezofan2
      April 26, 2015 at 2:48 pm

Seriously, Pf58, I question if this was as much ODS as it was a farce. They probably went through the process in order to say they did something but not really wanting it to go anywhere. Let’s face it, anyone really interested in DOING something productive is not going to be deterred so easily.

    Hey Everyone!

Attended a birthday party last night. So glad I recorded the correspondent’s dinner. Fast forwarded thru the dreadful parts. The President killed it. I’ve watched several times already. Luther, The Anger Translator is a huge hit, last I saw over 12 million hits on whitehouse.gov. The only thing about that Strong woman’s comments I liked was about Hillary stupidly distancing herself from a successful presidency.

The First Couple looked stunning! FLOTUS rocked those curls!

My son just asked if he could join his classmates tomorrow in wearing all black (they’re supposed to wear school uniforms) to school to honor Freddie Gray’s funeral. A resounding yes to him, but be prepared for consequences from the school.

    • April 26, 2015 at 3:33 pm

.good idea to school him on what he should do if there are consequences..depending on his age…i just might volunteer in the classroom that day .and i would call other parents to find out if their kids are following suit….it is hard to be the only one…

      • 77 sherijr
        April 27, 2015 at 6:41 am

after talking it over with his friends they opted not to do it as they were told they’d receive in school suspensions today- for not wearing uniforms. And frankly I told him not to, also. I want him to stand up and speak out.. but in a useful way. So he and his friends are going to put their heads together and find a more substantial way to honor Freddie Gray.

See John Del Cecato’s Twitter page if you are interested in how Bill de Blasio spent his weekend. First in Milwaukee addressing Dems and then in the Bronx the NYC Mayor is making the case for middle class priorities.
Bill would make an excellent VP to Joe Biden. Or a great supporter and campaigner for the Primary against his old boss, lady walmart.

Not that I want him to leave NY.

It is clear from Cecial Munoz’ comments that this will be a priority in the fourth quarter. AG Holder has already committing to work with My Brother’s Keeper, mentoring projects to help following his departure.

            Morning, T!

I sorta-kinda know that it’s a priority – given PBO’s and AG Holder’s integrity and commitment it cannot hep but be a priority, I think. However, we all have also lived through the mean spirited, uncaring obstruction of the Republicans and the dithering of certain Dems, so I’m somewhat ‘fearful’ *they* will manage to derail much of what the Obama Admin have in mind for this area.

Taiping, I join Mr. Bofr thanking you for posting this.
I worked behind the scenes of the CJS and the attitudes, characteristics, behavior of the court system, clerks, court officers, judges, police officers and correctional officers made it difficult for me to get up and go to work every day.
I can’t even start to imagine the disgust our President feels.
I am looking forward to viewing this discussion and hope to volunteer.
I urge TODers if you ever have a chance to sit in your neighborhood courts during arraignments or a trial please do.
Jury duty is a whole different matter.
I applaud John Legend for taking a stance on this issue which I consider to be institutionalize slavery.
The human degradation is mind boggling.
Many times I had to ask the questions: Where are the liberals? What causes are they supporting if not this?

Ms. Chips, I have to say I agree with the post way up there that either you are POB or he is you.
After his brilliant take last night on the bullshit in Washington, I truly believe he reads this Blog.
There were too many coincidences that we speak of here that were as if he lurks and pays attention to everything posted.

Thank you Ms. Chips. NW, Mr. Bobr, Bella, DF, and everyone here for giving me hope from day-to-day.

I think my favorite part of Obama/Luther translator skit was when he called out CNN over their nonstop coverage of ebola. And then suddenly stopped and moved on.
And OH BY THE WAY, WE DON’T HAVE EBOLA!!!!

That was too good. Cuz it’s TRUE.
