Morning everyone! Sorry for my monster huff yesterday, PBO’s speech and demeanor at the OFA thing did my head in, the treatment of him by his own party is just too much. If the prospect of a GOP President wasn’t so horrific, I’d say **** the Democrats.

Thanks a trazillion to Nerdy for last night’s wonderful posts, and to her and LL for preparing posts for today – I almost forgive them for being Chelsea fans. Almost.

And most importantly, an update on Danny’s new hedgehog:

I actually can’t find the rest of him, I’m trusting that he’s lying around the house somewhere, rather than being lodged in Danny’s tummy.

Why do I keep buying these things?

    That’s a very good question. 😕

      WHOA. Danny is a MACHINE!

Chips, I felt every bit of disgust you did. It really leave a deep gnaw in the pit of my stomach. And as you say, if it weren’t for the total insanity and destruction promised and evidenced by the GOP, I’d wash my hands clean of this entire political “system.”

I DO hope you find hedgehog’s spare parts!

      • April 24, 2015 at 9:06 am

You know Meta, I’d quite like Danny to do to some of these Democrats what he did to the hedgehog.

        You said it all:

I’ve been so busy lately – what happened?

          • April 24, 2015 at 9:47 am

It’s the whole Warren thing over the trade deal 57, apparently she’s now even fundraising off her opposition to the President – while implying he’s either being dishonest, or doesn’t understand the implications. And O’Malley is at it too. This is the level of loyalty PBO gets from his own party after everything he has done.

              April 24, 2015 at 10:13 am

Gee, how about she meet with PBO and get some actual facts?

This “all trade deals are BAD” is simplistic and childish. U.S. must be part of this conversation.

It’s the “public option” hysteria all over again. It cost us the 2010 election, which gerrymandered the districts.

I have taken to turning off progressive radio because this is all they talk about.

Tell me exactly how the GOP’s media disses their own party and leaders over and over again?

              • April 24, 2015 at 10:20 am

“It’s the “public option” hysteria all over again.”

It truly is, 57. It’s her tone in all of this that is so objectionable, just playing up to the leftbaggers’ distrust (or worse) of PBO. I can’t get over her.

And I am sick to death of the deification of her and the left’s stubbornness that there is only one candidate to love, and otherwise they won’t vote. What the eff does it take?!?!

            • April 24, 2015 at 11:54 am

I can almost believe my Ron Paul lover brother’s both parties rant these days. I saw Elizabeth Warren on Rachel seeing when she was asked about viewing the deal how she dodged it with saying the public needed to see it. Seems to me Rachel should have brought up the process in works argument at that point. EW’s only point left is procedural and that would involve a change where the public is brought in sooner and it seems to me that would make any progress impossible which might be the point to start with. I knew EW was not experienced in foreign affairs, but her isolationist rigid views might mean she can never be ready.

            GM 57F.

When you have 20 minutes DO watch PBO’s address to OFA yesterday.

PBO is, and always has been, honest, but he’s a politician with uncanny self-control — he is the embodiment of the power of understatement.

However, Obots wish he would let loose, and say THIS IS BULLSH*T!!! (I recall a blog post by James Fallows a couple of years ago to that effect, and judging by Fallows’ writing, he is the anti-Rush Limbaugh — always measured and gracious in his blog posts.)

And this is what PBO did yesterday.

My twitter timeline was filled with “racist” assessments for those Dems who oppose TPP — I know very little about racism (in my own little sunny, suburban SoCal cocoon), but I find it hard to believe that Elizabeth Warren, Sherrod Brown, Ed Schultz, etc. are motivated by racism. I do hope they do what PBO does best, and that is listen — they need to understand how their steadfast obstruction is heard by the pragmatic, inclusive Americans who voted for Barack Obama.

Thank you so much, arapaho, for this explanation. I will watch it either tonight or over the weekend. My days are chaotic, long, busy and stressful lately.

As a (almost senior) white Jewish lady, I do not share the racist experience so I am careful with my comments. However, not everything is racist. Elizabeth Warren and Sherrod Brown disagree with PBO on TPP – I do not believe that is motivated by racism. I choose to trust PBO that this is better than past trade agreements, and that we cannot absent ourselves from the global trade conversation. A decent party would support their president and make their criticisms undamaging – but Dems are awful in this regard. This is why there is no sense of “team loyalty” like the GOP has built.

Thank you again for your response.

I thought the OFA group was supportive and was glad that POTUS called out the Democrats’ fraudulent opposition to TPP. Bunch of Neanderthals. Almost as bad as GOP hacks

I think we are down to just one requirement. Underwriters do not understand self-employment, and they REALLY don’t understand the work Mr. 57 and I do and what clients pay him to do. At least the broker got them to go back pretty much to the rules that our application was grandfathered under. It’s been an ordeal.

I would love it if they would waive this last redundant requirement. After everything we’ve been through the last 5 months, I want one weekend where I’m not burdened with work, cleaning, repairs, excessive paperwork, and stress. We are exhausted. Mr. 57 at 75 years old has done so much – we need a break bigtime.

          Thanks for asking, my friend.

“I will forgo cable tv tonight but I am betting that little or no mention will be made of Iran turning its ships around and going home. PBO and his foreign policy— once more—-Just Right.”

    Now it’s breaking news…

    P.S. – Sorry about Danny’s (once-adorable) hedgehog. 😦

      Good morning Arapaho and TOD.
NOT a single word in the NY Times this morning about averting conflict with Iran.
“Standoff over” is not news if it includes the necessity of mentioning the brilliance and effectiveness of President Obama’s foreign policy.

    April 24, 2015 at 9:12 am

Chips, I understand your feelings completely. I have been so disgusted with my fellow Dems lately that I have been avoiding the sight of them. I also respond to no e-mails and refuse to answer the phone. Sometimes I wonder how you manage to wake up each morning and cheerfully go about putting up another post. There must be days when you just want to chuck it in and I wouldn’t blame you. Yesterday I felt like I wanted to hug our President after that heartbreaking OFA speech and then turn around and punch Elizabeth Warren, Martin O’Malley and all other weasely Democratic turncoats in the nose. It would have been so satisfying.

    • April 24, 2015 at 9:25 am

Ah Jackie, I am SO with you. I have absolutely no problem with people expressing their concerns about these trade deals, that’s their right, but the suggestion that PBO can’t be trusted on this, or doesn’t understand the implications, is what does my head in. And then for the likes of Warren to try and boost her standing among lefties by questioning PBO’s word…. good grief. It’s like these people are seeking out an issue – any issue – ahead of 2016 to attack PBO, because they think they will profit from that. That they forget he was elected twice is kinda astonishing. I loathe them all.

GM Chips and TOD. Jackie and Chips, I gree with you all 100 percent. Democrats have a way of shooting themselves in the foot. They need to reign in these superior attitudes. EW has turned me off completely. I don’t even want to hear a word out of her mouth. I blame MSM for propping her up as middle class queen from one statement she made. They totally ignored what PBO had been saying for years about lifting up the middle class.

        • April 24, 2015 at 9:41 am

And now she’s fundraising off her efforts to show the President either isn’t telling the truth, or doesn’t understand the implications of the deal, COS. Oh my.

            April 24, 2015 at 9:47 am

Chips my blood pressure just went up over this fundraising. This is unfreaking believable.

          • April 24, 2015 at 10:26 am

The fundraising is what I find especially egregious and craven. I’ve respected EW in the past but now I can’t stand the sight of her self-serving harangues. And to think she’s now appointed to a position of leadership in the Senate, bypassing others in a hurry. UGH.

            • April 24, 2015 at 10:29 am

It really is unforgivable Meta, at a time when the GOP is at its most deranged in history, she’s fundraising off her opposition to the most liberal President ever on this issue? Repulsive, she’s turning in to the Jane Hamsher of the Senate.

    Boom! TY, President Obama:)

ObamaCare customers rated their satisfaction over the last year as 696 out of 1,000, compared to the 679-point rating by customers with employer-based plans, according to a large survey by the consumer research firm J.D. Power.

Customer satisfaction has increased sharply from ObamaCare’s tumultuous first year.

New enrollees rated their experience at 670 — a significant 55 points higher than the previous year, when ObamaCare exchanges were plagued by website failures.
People were more likely to be satisfied by ObamaCare if they had already enrolled in coverage. They gave even higher marks if they had auto-enrolled in their plans this year, with a rating of 744 out of 1,000.

And down goes another talking point knocked out by reality.

New Kinloch mayor blocked by police from entering city hall
    POSTED 9:43 PM, APRIL 23, 2015

KINLOCH, MO (KTVI) – Our Fox 2 cameras were the only ones there as the newly-elected Kinloch mayor was greeted by police for her first day on the job.

Betty McCray was not only prevented from entering city hall, she was also told she’d been impeached before she got a chance to start.

McCray ran for mayor in the April 7 election and won.

After the election results were certified earlier this week by the St. Louis County Board of Elections, Kinloch’s outgoing administration refused to allow the city clerk to give McCray the oath of office, claiming voter fraud.

“Today is the first day that that the city hall door has been unlocked. They keep it locked,” McCray said. “You got to beat and you got to bang (to get in). They have an officer police sitting right at the door.”

On Thursday, McCray was ready to start on the job, but was met with strong resistance. Fox 2 was there with McCray when she showed up at city hall, where she was greeted by more than 20 Kinloch police officers.

Its always “voter fraud” when the RWNJs lose an election.

      • April 24, 2015 at 11:01 am

I don’t know if there are RWNJ’s behind this one 99ts. There are approx. 499 people in this small town near the ST. Louis airport and it is 98% AA. It smells of corruption with the old administration when the losing party won’t play by the rules. I looked up the town and saw the video. How in the hell do you impeach someone before they take office…Lord don’t give the GOP any ideas.

        • 89 99ts
          April 24, 2015 at 11:54 am

Anyone who talks about voter fraud and impeachment when they lose an election are my definition of RWNJs. I gather in this small town people actually decided to vote – that is what upsets the “old school”. Is this the same town where the police and others resigned on mass? If so it seems there is much to hide as to what has been happening.
