President Barack Obama: A Phenomenal President That History Will Remember Well

Barack Obama

****

A powerful speech full of facts. Shame on the Democrats fundraising against President Obama. That includes you, Sen. Elizabeth Warren. He has proven himself over and over and over again. He brought us back from the brink of a depression and saved the economy; which has been creating jobs month after month. Over 16 million people have comprehensive and affordable insurance thanks to him. He saved the auto industry. He has been a champion for the environment. He put two women on the Supreme Court. He nominated Loretta Lynch; who is the first Black female Attorney General. He fought for credit card and Wall Street Reform. The first bill he signed was the Lily Ledbetter Fair Pay Act into law. He cut taxes for over 98% of middle and working class families. He is proposing free community college.

He increased Pell Grants for millions of students. He reformed the student loan program. He righted the wrong of the crack cocaine and powder cocaine sentencing laws. He created an effective and comprehensive task force to curb the surge of police violence against citizens. He has put money into job training so that millions can have a better future. He has made sure Native Americans have a seat at the table and have a hand in creating policies that protect and make sure their communities flourish. He has been fighting for economic fairness and against income inequality years before these so called Democrats considered it an issue. He has fought for LGBT rights. What more must he do to prove that he is ALWAYS and has ALWAYS been on the side of working, middle class, and marginalized folks?

Barack Obama

Shame on any Democrat who distances himself or herself from President Barack Obama. Shame on any Democrat saying this trade agreement would destroy America. That includes you, Sen. Warren. He campaigned hard for her. That he has to defend himself like this is abhorrent. Shame on them. They are not fit to shine his shoes. He has been a phenomenal president and history will remember him well.

Almablanca, I enthusiastically second your statement about Nerdy Wonka’s “beautiful and righteous rant.” She is always on time and on top of everything. Equally important, I am thankful to be alive during the Obama presidency. I am absolutely certain that if President Obama was not subjected to all this mindless opposition, from both the right and the left, our country –and the world–would be much better off than it is today.

    Congrats LDS 🙂

    TY NW!!

    ========
Just posted at the bottom of the previous thread:

Have now listened to his speech.

I think it is one of the most important he has ever given.

He sets the record straight, both his accomplishments and the unprecedented obstruction he has encountered every day since 20Jan09.

He sets the record straight that he was elected twice by working folk, not the ‘Chamber of Commerce’ (an effective meme for calling out the 1%).

He also makes it perfectly clear that he is not going to stop, no matter what, and he’s going to call bullshit whenever he smells it.

He has never looked stronger or more resolute.

    #FiredUp …. #ReadyToGo

    #TrustBarack

#TrustJoe …. and, btw, one of the main reasons I think he will run is because he knows that if he rallies all the Americans who love and support PBO he will WIN.

I thought that if you take the icon for her campaign and flip it upside down, it speaks volumes for the fact that either way it doesn’t work. The H is still an H, and the arrow points back across the bridge to the 20th century. And it’s ugly, uninspiring, has no message other than “me, me, me”.

Please let not reinforce the narrative about joe’s supposed “gaffes”. The media and the right wing have greatly exaggerated, in order to paint him as an idiot. He’s obviously not one. He’s very knowledgeable and a skilled politician.

    • April 23, 2015 at 10:02 pm

That’s also what President Obama expects: the benefit of the doubt. I said in previous threads today that I thought he was HURT by Elisabeth Warren’s comments and that’s why he pushed back.

Wow, when I watched the speech, I just saw that my concerns were true. I’ve never seen him like this. Have we ever seen him say ‘I take this personally”. ?

I hope some of those democrats, the ones who lack perspective but who are good people (talking to you Sherrod Brown, Elisabeth Warren) will calm down and be more careful with what they say, in both form and substance.

Tonight I wish for the Dem traitors, and there’s lots of them, who POTUS spent days and nights campaigning for them as they are all so weak ass campaigners that they couldn’t get elected without his coattails (Not ONE OF THEM; think Rahm Emanuel in a Dem city) a big pile of steaming hot shit to step in with the aroma clinging to their dress clothes.

I am on the inside looking out and the outside looking in. I cannot tell one from the other anymore. There is so little chance I can help Hillary or Martin, or Webb. My heart is SO full of wonder for this President who shields us al dailyl from complete despair by strong messages, hard work and always looking out for the other guy. Democrats are a cowardly group who did little to tout the historic achievements of President Obama. Run and hide. NO ONE in our OFA group supports Hilllary which should cause her an enormous headache and possibly the election.

I am babbling but this president has made my life able to finally have a Commander In Chief who is intelligent beyond words, the face of integrity and one hard ass when it come to Winning. He is and always will be the best of the VERY best.

Dems are on their own. They stand for nothing and POTUS has no tolerance for that. Especially when they know better.

    • 59 theo67
      April 23, 2015 at 9:17 pm

Especially when so many of them have no record of actively achieving anything to protect and improve American lives. How many of them had to be begged to vote for healthcare? How many of them have a lot to say, but very little to show in terms of actual accomplishments? They should be ashamed. Collecting salaries, but not earning them.

    • 60 jackiegrumbacher
      April 23, 2015 at 9:53 pm

No spin, I felt there was a sense of betrayal on PBO’s part that those he calls his friends would attack him on the very issues that have defined his life and his presidency. He has proven himself time and time again and yet those he should expect support from don’t trust him. And most critically, their mistrust is expressed in catch phrases and emotionalism and is not based on fact. Our president has an incredible ability to rise above pettiness, but he would be less than human if he didn’t resent the behavior of those who have mindlessly turned against him on this issue.

So can’t it be said she’d accomplished a great deal? Yes… But not as a Senator. In other words, to be crass about it, she’d made next to no real accomplishments in her time in government when Barack Obama wasn’t holding her hand.”

Rand Paul’s son cited for DUI after car crash in Kentucky

Son of Republican presidential candidate Rand Paul has been cited for driving under the influence of alcohol in Kentucky. Lexington Police spokeswoman Sherelle Roberts said Paul was treated at the University of Kentucky hospital for minor injuries to his face. She said a police officer cited Paul for operating a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol and failure of a nonowner/operator to maintain insurance.

    http://fiostrending.verizon.com/news/read/article/the_associated_press-rand_pauls_son_cited_for_dui_after_car_crash_in_ke-ap

so…. Rand Paul’s son did not have insurance? What about responsibility and accountability?

    • 88 theo67
      April 23, 2015 at 9:21 pm

Personally, I feel that Rand has enough failures of his own. We can leave his son out of it – who clearly has some issues that need to be addressed.

which is why I didn’t focus on the DUI. I do think it is relevant to look at the lack of insurance.

I’m so confused as to why the progressives/sen warren/ed shultz and the rest of the left wing is so dead set against this TPP agreement? I truly understand why they would be skeptical of what happened with NAFTA and the aftermath of that disastrous bill. President Obama knows the damage that legislation did to the mid west. Wiping out jobs and shipping manufactuering jobs overseas and how it decimated the unions. So I am willing to give him the benefit of the doubt to say he wouldn’t be signing a bill that would kill off the last of the workers. I just don’t see him doing that. I trust Obama because i know where his heart is and what he track record is, So I get pissed when I see Sen Warren, Sanders and Ed Shults going off the rails about how this president is lying and hiding this bill from the public when we all know know that is BS!! Just say you don’t like ANY TRADE BILLS PERIOD!! Instead of making up these stories about how obama is duping the workers. Its disingenuous and you start to lose your creditibilty. So right I am conflicted. I want to trust Obama with what he is doing, but don’t want to totally ignore what the left wing is saying. But lets presents FACTS not your OPINIONS on what is truly in this bill.

……because they didn’t bother to read it and they want your money.

“I want to trust Obama with what he is doing, but don’t want to totally ignore what the left wing is saying.”
…..do a compare and contrast on what POTUS has done for regular folks and what the left wing has done for regular.
(*hint, the results aren’t even close)

“But lets presents FACTS not your OPINIONS on what is truly in this bill.”

I just watched the President’s OFA speech. I agree with the one who said, he’s not hurt, he’s disgusted. I felt the ‘fire in his belly” and the strength of his convictions come through strongly. He gave a lesson to all weak kneed, lily-livered politicians tonight, and they know who they are. I say Bravo Mr. President! He became president because he knew where the country needed to go, and he had a plan to get us there. He did not run for president so he could get his picture on a wall. He is not through, and has many great things to do yet. He has tremendous inner strength. We need to pressure these Democrats…..and I know people on here are doing just that. They are all stuck in 1990, and the world has moved on. They need to get out more…..go to Europe, Japan, Dubai, Singapore, see how they are moving ahead of us in so many ways, then stupidly and blindly cling to their 19th/20th century ideas.

Just a word about my husband. I wrote three weeks ago about the doctor’s prognosis of several months. I have put that out of my mind, as my husband is thriving now. The improvement in three weeks is remarkable, and I want to thank all of you for your prayers, thoughts, caring…..I know it is a day at a time, but every day there is improvement, and I am thankful.

Haven’t written in over a week because I dropped my laptop…..how careless of me, so had to send it to my son to fix….I got it back today and am so happy. I had my little tablet for reading, but it’s awkward for writing. So……glad to be able to share again.

Again, thanks to all of you for your care. Chips……PBO is going to be all right!

that was me carolyn, I truly believe, POTUS senses the need of GOP and some DEMS to force him into a “lame duck” position instead of finishing the job. We all know he does not suffer fools lightly. Instead, their tactics backfired and they succeeded in fully unleashing the beast. The big dog is officially off the porch and we are all in for the ride of our lives. I suspect, we haven’t seen anything yet.

I wouldn’t be surprised to see the complete shut down of GITMO or at least ZERO prisoners left, a solution to the issues with police departments and the treatment of citizens and a 2 state solution officially on the table publicly supported by Bibi.

It’s so wonderful to hear that your husband is “thriving” and improving. Please keep up the faith because your faith strengthens him. While I respect doctors, the fact is that doctors haven’t yet completely mastered the mystery of human life.

Maybe it is time for Warren, Schultz, O’Malley, Sherrod Brown and others to get on the GOP Crazy Train.

Sexual relationships are a trap through which so many of us loose any semblance of reason. The Gen Patreaus risked it all for his mistress. Remember a time when he was being touted as the next GOP president? I believe that he got a sentence more lenient than the magnitude of his alleged crime because he knows too much about the nation’s shadowy secrets. After all, he was in charge of too many counter-terrorism activities

I hate to boil this down to race, but what does a black man have to do to gain the benefit of a doubt. I saw pain on Barack’s face, I saw him basically say “what more do I have to do to make you believe in me.” I hurt for him, I feel for him. He has poured his life into this fight to help people. It’s as if everything he’s done in the past does not matter. How easily his own party can doubt him is what burns me the most. We the people support you, Barack.

I agree with every word, Don. Wish there were a way we could collectively let our President know how much we support him.

    • April 24, 2015 at 1:21 am

Totally nailed it, Don! I am a little older than you because I still remember the lessons we were taught that a black person has to be twice as good as a white person before he/she can be deemed to be worthy of respect/acknowledgement. Given all the accomplishments of President Obama, and especially the fact that he saved this nation from going into another great depression, It’s disgusting to see the so called Democrats mistrusting his commitment to America’s working class.

Thanks NEw for this affirmation of PBO and what all of you blog tyrants do each and every day. Because of of all the anti-PBO negativity i have been subjected too from back-stabbing Dems and racist GOP, i have resolved to go out on a limb and mobilize votes for candidates who promise to continue PBO’s socio-economic justice and equality agenda & push it apologetically

  31. April 23, 2015 at 9:43 pm

Time and time again, the Crats are really being exposed…big time…I’ve been turned off by them since the 2014 mid term elections(how they turned their backs on #44)… they have never been loyal to this President…and for that they will pay…I’m just so so done!!!!

  32. April 23, 2015 at 9:58 pm

You know, I often hear people saying how he’s had to clean up all the Republican messes, but he’s had to clean up some Clinton messes too, NAFTA for example.

Hey, Bobfr, it’s okay for you to get some rest too. We know you have had some massive work comittments lately, tho we have missed you, we need you hale and hearty as there is still much work to be done and you are vital to the community! PBO needs you! VPB needs you too! ❤

Some of these “progressives” have their heads stuck so far into the 20th Century, they cannot keep up with the changes of the 21st Century. PBO is trying to keep this country in the game; help us stay on top of this global economy. Progressives’ phobias and pessimism are inhibiting our ability to be competitive in this global economy. They need to let the leader lead.

which is why I don’t understand why they are referred to as progressive when all they want to do is regress.

I had a good source in D.C. tell me that most of the Senate and their staffs view Ted Cruz and Elizabeth Warren as the same, just operating in opposite parties. They are both hugely egotistical, believing their own press and both really think that they are so much smarter than the President. Notice how they both act like they are Senator Majority Leader and invite themselves into House legislation. Of course results matter right? That’s where they are also very much alike because neither of them has done one damn thing as a senator. Not one damn thing. Personally I always gave her the side eye from 2008 because she always was way too eager to take sole credit for finance reform. I personally know some of the staffers of Barney Frank’s, one of whom wrote most of the massive Dodd/Frank legislation. And that person was not the lady from Kansas.

I want to thank you once again Nerdy for allowing Chips to step away every now and then. I know Chips frustration with the lame duck DEMS and the lame GOP/Teabaggers. I don’t often say how I feel about the people who claim to love this country and want our votes to do nothing for every day people like us. Sometimes I am just disgusted with this country.

I am so thankful for President Obama and Mrs. Obama for wanting to make life better for some of the most selfish and ungrateful Dems and ordinary people who would rather vote against their own interest than to have an African American President and First Lady. This makes me so unbelievably sad that here in the 2015 that some people would rather roll back time than to face the future together. What will it take for all Americans to see all of us living in this country as one people.

Good Nite Chips, Thank You in advance to those that will post to TOD for Chips. (((CHIPS))) & (((HZ))))

Nerdy, in your long list of brilliant nightly posts, this one is the best. You truly spoke to my heart and expressed the shame I, too, feel about my fellow Dems, many of whom I have known and respected for years and who have now become crazed on this issue. Your post is also a paean to a great man whom all of us love and who will be remembered for generations as the best leader the US produced in all its long, and sometimes sorry, history.

The Dem party has truly lost its way, and what we see happening with the TPP is the best argument for term limits. Watching these elected officials, I am not convinced that any of this has anything to do with PBO, but with their own hides. The entire lot of them has been running scared since 2010, first when many of the them lost their seats due to Obamacare and the Tea Party, and then the elections last fall. Once they are elected, that is exactly where they want to stay (who can blame them after all, wouldn’t we all love to make what they do for the few days/year they work) and the only thing on their minds is getting re-elected. In so many of these states, the workers have been badly hurt by outsourcing and their constituents blame it on trade deals, although it truly is more part of globalization overall than trade deals. But it is far easier to take up the rallying cry than educate so that’s what they do. The thing that is humorous, of course, is the hypocrisy. They seem to understand that neither they nor the Rs should be allowed any amendments to the Iran deal because of the other countries involved, but fail to understand the same argument applies to trade deals only more so. How the hell are the ELEVEN other countries to the TPP ever going to work with the US if the President doesn’t have the authority to negotiate?

Our politics is so dysfunctional at this point, it is amazing to me that anyone who truly cares and wants to accomplish anything would run for national office.

But how do term limits address the stories being told by Elizabeth Warren? How are any of them going to recover their credibility? It’s so disheartening to see what they’re doing. 2016 should have been an easy election, with so much evidence that GOP aren’t interested in working for Americans. Just look at how much money and time they’ve wasted on Benghazi and voting to repeal healthcare reform! This just muddies the waters, and makes it difficult for the President to campaign for them. Ridiculous!

        April 23, 2015 at 10:57 pm

If they’re term limited, Theo, perhaps they could think about truly governing and what’s best for the country long term than simply the next election. Not sure this is a good answer either, but it’s something. Think about Tom Cotton’s statement with that ridiculous letter. He thinks he’s going to be there the rest of his life! And he was only elected for six years.

You may be right. It just confounds me that these people, with the letters from their constituents that they receive – they still think it’s more important to preen themselves, than to do work for the people. They’ve learned nothing from President Obama. Nothing.
