GOV. SCOTT, YOU’RE MISSING A GREAT OPPORTUNITY
    By Sun Sentinel Editorial Board

    Dear Gov. Scott,

There is a perfect opportunity for you today, governor, to do something positive and productive for our state, and perhaps buff up your image, too.

But before it even happens, well, to put it bluntly, you’ve blown it off.

Honestly, we weren’t surprised when your communications staff told us you wouldn’t be visiting the Everglades this afternoon to meet President Obama, who is in South Florida this Earth Day to discuss climate change. …

It’s not unprecedented for a Republican governor to show respect when a Democratic president visits his or her state. … You wouldn’t have had to give him a hug, like then-Republican Gov. Charlie Crist did … when Obama brought stimulus money to Florida in 2009.

Must read the rest here: http://www.sun-sentinel.com/opinion/editorials/fl-editorial-everglades-gs0422-20150421-story.html

I just watched the POTUS Hardball round-table and played this game of “drink” every time Tweety mentions “Pennsylvania”. I’m already drunk before 9a.m.

    • April 22, 2015 at 10:08 am

😆 I think it’s the first PBO interview I haven’t watched Forus, my stomach just isn’t strong enough for Tweety.

      • April 22, 2015 at 10:14 am

Was so afraid he’d spit on our President. . .
My TV doesn’t go to msnbc anymore or cnn. Never went to fox.

      • April 22, 2015 at 10:19 am

Actually, the clip of Elizabeth Warren upset me waaaaay more than Tweety.

The President was magnificent and worth every minute of viewing!

Lol, actually Tweety isn’t obnoxious in this (doesn’t interrupt or spit while speaking). Other than almost always prefacing every question with his blue collar PA roots he did some really thoughtful questions as well as gave POTUS an opportunity to address critics of the trade deal which sounds amazingly detailed, much like EVERY policy/law that POTUS is involved in.

I’m still wondering what the hell those shitty Democrats were talking about in 2010, 2012 and 2014 when they kept mentioning Obamacare as needing to be “fixed rather than repealed”. WHAT exactly needs to be fixed? Looks to me like nothing other than the stupid typo before the Supreme Court. Every aspect of the law is working much better than expected. I don’t doubt POTUS knew it would work this well but didn’t want to over-sell it.

        • April 22, 2015 at 10:37 am

“doesn’t interrupt or spit while speaking”

LOL, we have such low expectations, Forus!!

Agree with you on the ACA remarks. What the shitty Democrats were doing is making the Democrats fail so that they could swoop in with Lady Walmart and “get their party back.”

I continue to worry that if Hillary comes into office she will somehow mess with the ACA trying to put her own signature on it and throw the fine tuned comprehensive elements into chaos. Then it will not offset the costs as it is intended to do. Of course if the GOP comes in we would be lucky to keep any part of ACA and most likely Social Security and Medicare would be privatized.

Good morning, TODville, and happy Earth Day to all.

Please always keep in mind what you can to take good care of our planet. Every little bit helps. From the air we breathe, the energy we consume, the safety of our oceans, the health of our natural habitats and all the garbage we dispose, let’s be more and more conscious of our actions and give back everywhere we can.

Good Morning TOD Family and GM HZ we miss you, hope all is well.

People are so focused on the drought in CA while other areas of this country and around the world are also experiencing a drought. I was watching PIVOT tee vee (cable station) about several lakes in China have dried up. China is building aqua ducts to channel water from other lakes to farming communities.

Of all of the many “in-Chief” titles that our PBO has, Scientist-in-Chief as he was dubbed by the scientist themselves, is one of my favorites. It encapsulates his intellectual curiosity, knowledge, respect for facts and data as well as his advancement of and excitement for STEM. To think that we have a president who holds Science Fairs, and astronomy watch nights and honors and showcases STEM and understands how it is connected to all aspects of our lives fills me with such pride and awe. Our president is all about moving the country forward and he rightfully utilizes the intellect and skills of the people who actually how to help us to do so. One of the worst things about the horror of the Bush years was how anti-intellectual it was and how this was evidenced in budget and policy decisions. It was a virtue to be stupid, dismissive and insular. So thankful that PBO has delivered us from this. One of my recent favorite science anecdotes is when the advance team for PBO’s visit to some University’s lab, told school’s president that “This president is intellectually curious and that they should choose a guide who could answer his questions.” Their response was to have the dean of that particular department who was also an expert in the field show PBO around and from the pictures of the event that I recall, she was in awe of him.

OMG these anecdotes….no need to read the actual story 😆 😆

He would “unravel” when competitors deployed humor against him, according to former Yale debater Austan Goolsbee (an economist who later served on President Obama’s cabinet). Cruz also fared poorly when he made jokes himself. From the Times report:

Mr. Cruz’s own attempts at humor sometimes missed the mark. In one debate, he proposed a method to detect infidelity, in which God should “give women a hymen that grows back every time she has intercourse with a different guy, because that will be a ‘visible sign’ of the breach of trust,” according to a recollection by David Kennedy published in a Harvard debate team reunion booklet in 2001. Mr. Kennedy’s debate partner mocked Mr. Cruz’s knowledge of the subject matter by contorting herself to see how the anatomy in question could be “visible,” according to the booklet. In another debate against Amherst College, the opposing team argued that Ricky Ricardo of “I Love Lucy” fame should have let Lucille Ball’s character work. Cruz responded “Well, guess what, I’m Cuban! And no self-respecting Cuban man of the era would let his wife work,” according to the Times.
