Looks as if the hurdle blocking the nomination of Loretta Lynch has somehow been overcome. Democrats reached a compromise on the sex trafficking bill that seems suspiciously like a cave and now the way is supposedly paved for the Lynch vote. I’ll believe it when I see it.

Did you catch that? If you don’t like NAFTA, we need to fix it with TPP. That kind of turns the whole progressive argument on its head, doesn’t it?

I am very happy to see that TOD agrees on the TPP. It is beyond exasperating to see the reflexive anti-anything PBO does routine. And I am already So Over Elizabeth Warren.

So, a white man who murders gets to go out of the country so as not to disrupt his vacation? We are doomed as a country.

I know that Ta-Nehisi Coates is not universally admired here. But if you go to his twitter list and listen to the address he gave at Howard University (his Alma mater) on March 15, I promise you, it will be a well-spent 52 minutes.

These reporters are so, so confused, and so …pedestrian! Kissing is now synonymous with being bipartisan? 🙄 Congress could be so much more productive if reporters would focus their attention on the real issues and on meaningful commentary. I bet it would sharpen the edges of the politicians if they realized what they did was being scrutinized seriously. Sigh.

One day, a Navajo elder and his son came across the space crew walking among the rocks. The elder, who spoke only Navajo, asked a question.

His son translated for the NASA people: “What are these guys in the big suits doing?”
One of the astronauts said that they were practicing for a trip to the moon.
When his son relayed this comment the Navajo elder got all excited and asked if it would be possible to give the astronauts a message to deliver to the moon.

Recognizing a promotional opportunity when he saw one, a NASA official accompanying the astronauts said, “Why certainly!” He then told an underling to get a tape recorder.
The Navajo elder’s comments into the microphone were brief.
The NASA official asked the son if he would translate what his father had said. The son listened to the recording and laughed uproariously. But he refused to translate. So the NASA people took the tape to a nearby Navajo village and played it for other members of the tribe.
They too laughed long and loudly, but refused to translate the elder’s message to the moon. So, an official government translator was summoned.

After he finally stopped laughing, the translator relayed the message:

    GE TODville,

After reading this article, the lightbulb went off for me.

I’ve ranted about the underserved coverage and attention #MSM is paying to #Campaign2016 before.

It now makes sense, since #MSM now has the opportunity to take whatever position ANY Dem Presidential candidate or candidate wannabe takes against the President and use that candidate/presumed candidate’s to undermine EVERYTHING our beloved President does or initiates.

The abhorrent MSM actually believes that President Obama is a “lame duck,” and now do not need to rely on RWNJ positions/statements to craft their treasonous points of view.

AP’s Julie Pace started out yesterday’s WHPB by quoting HRC’s “position” on TPP, and of course most of the remaining jackals followed suit.

Title of the article is: “Hillary Clinton tees up an argument for opposing the TPP.”

Here is an example of why whatever the MSM “reports” now is so ridiculously premature and meaningless:

I thought Bill Burton tweeted this because:

        1) Everything, including “gaffes,” that happened in 2007 were meaningless in 2008. Extrapolating to 2015/2016, that means that the MSM is just getting highly paid to undermine PBO while parroting anything a Dem candidate/presumed candidate says that can be twisted to be “against” the President and his Administration.

        2) HRC’s “inevitability” wasn’t so inevitable, when a politician with a guiding North Star challenged her. I shudder to think what an HRC Presidency would be like (not as much as a GOP Presidency, but I just don’t trust her and her Hillaryland drama, cronyism and spitefulness).

        • 70 vcprezofan2
          April 21, 2015 at 9:31 pm

Since I don’t know Burton I have no clues about why he tweeted it. However, it’s quite vague enough to me to merit a question about its relevance in 2015. It really doesn’t ‘say’ much that adds to the dialogue at this point in time.

            April 21, 2015 at 10:07 pm

Not sure of Burton’s title, but he was a key player/communicator for Obama 2008, and one of the few persons of color in that capacity.

              April 21, 2015 at 10:23 pm

His profile says former deputy WH press secretary for President Obama, but it still doesn’t make the tweet in question any more relevant to me. Not that either my comment or his tweet will change the price of butter. Let you and I leave Burton and his tweet hanging. 😀

What a stunning display of GREATNESS!! I doubt we will ever see another President any thing even close to PBO’s brilliant mind and easy fluency in expressing himself.
Not that anything will stop the ODS. Chris from HardHead will now give the haters their chance to whine.

          April 21, 2015 at 8:48 pm

I know it’s a pointless lament, Hopefruit, but if only the media would report fairly and point out when politicians of either side are genuinely being disingenuous or when they are unprepared on a topic, it would make such a difference to the knowledge of the electorate!

Yes it would. But the media owner’s interests are not served by honest reporting, unfortunately.

Ah, Hopef, sometimes it feels like way too much, and I’m only an onlooker. Reminds me of PBO’s often made comment that you cannot use the same MO over and over and expect a different result.

In the article, she talks about how great his comedic timing is and how she’s scared to follow him at the WHPC dinner. HA!!

And then it was HOURS later that they finally took him to the hospital? To have a broken spine and live for a week in unimaginable pain, so much you die from it I cannot imagine it. This is the most gruesome murder by cops. Torture him for hours and then kill him, that’s what they did.

Again, i urge TOD to watch the Ta-nehisi Coates address to Howard University.
Maybe someone with the skills i so sorely lack can bring it here.
In the light of Freddy Gray’s murder and Hayes getting his hall pass it has special resonance today.

PBO is hugely more generous than I towards some. I have to ask does this now mean the goopers will stop going after our Medicare and CHIP programs, and quit trying to sell them off to the highest bidder. (also glad PBO is courteous and refrained from saying Boner, which I surely would have done. The Man is true to his Soul!) ❤

Give Obama fast-track authority in Trans-Pacific Partnership negotiations
Originally published April 20, 2015 at 5:47 pm Updated April 20, 2015 at 6:07 pm

Congress should act quickly to enact the Trans Pacific Partnership and put Washington, and the rest of the nation, in a position to benefit from international trade.

    By Seattle Times editorial board
    The Seattle Times

TWO out of five Washington workers have a job related to international trade. As more countries enter the global marketplace, Washington has much to gain — or lose — if the United States doesn’t maintain a strong position in trade.

That’s just one of many reasons why Congress should grant President Obama “fast-track” authority to negotiate trade agreements known as trade-promotion authority. Congress should swiftly approve a bill introduced last week to do just that.

The sooner Congress approves fast-track authority, the sooner Obama can finalize the terms of the Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP), an agreement the United States and 11 other Pacific Rim countries have negotiated over the last five years.

So now the guy that basically saved America has to damn near plead with his own party to stand with him on TPP.

News reports can twist things. Case in point: resignation of DEA head hastened by reports of agents’ misbehavior in Colombia is now being twisted to make non-politicaljunkies think it’s because she criticized PBO’s stand on drug sentencing
