        Oh, thank you, pf…you know when you’re used to seeing people around the neighborhood and then you don’t? 🙂 Now, I’m wondering where/how our beautiful HZ is….it’s been waaaaaay too long since we heard from her. I truly hope that her health is ok and that she’s just off on some stupendous vacation somewhere with her dear brother or other family member. If you’re lurking…know that you are missed:) {{{HZ}}}

Morning all. I’ve finally got some medical help with my intestinal issues, and although I’m not magically better, I’m taking medication and tests and hopefully will get some answers in the next two weeks. Just working toward answers, rather than building mysteries in my mind, is helping me to feel better. I feel lucky to live in an area where there are good medical choices and to have the kind of insurance that allows me access to those choices. Thank God our president made it his priority to give more people access to good health care. I just don’t understand any party that actively promotes sickness as a way of life. If it turns out that I have an ulcer–one of the possibilities–I’m blaming it on the GOP.

    • April 21, 2015 at 9:11 am

Thrilled you got it all checked out Jackie, your mind will be at ease once it’s sorted and they get you fixed!

If it is an ulcer, I’d love for you to sue the GOP, that would be a delicious test case!

I can see tens of millions across the country joining me in a massive “Republicans–They Make You Sick” campaign. Just think of the stomach acid generated by the mere sight of Ted Cruz or Scott Walker. We might even get support from the pharmaceutical companies who manufacture antacids.

    • April 21, 2015 at 9:27 am

Glad you got some help, Jackie.

    • April 21, 2015 at 10:19 am

Glad to hear you’re feeling better, jackie. Here’s to positive outcome overall.

I finally got my hospital bill from my emergency room visit last September. Over $15,000 bill and my share is $65!!!! OMG, I nearly passed out from relief. So I second your gratefulness for President Obama’s focus on affordable health care. He’s changed our country for the better in so very many ways.

      Take good care!!

    • April 21, 2015 at 10:33 am

JG, there are some natural remedies you and Roberta (and others) might also want to consider for digestive and intestinal disorders: Slippery Elm Bark. (The powder, not the tablets). When PBO had that reflux issue a while back, I did some research in American medical websites, found an excellent discussion in the University of Maryland medical school site, and sent the link to the doctor at the WH. I never heard back, but that doesn’t matter. I felt PBO and FLOTUS might consider alternative to things like Pepcid etc. My own experience and information stems from my years living in Australia, where I preferred the care of herbalist and alternative medicines (ie, acupuncture) and I still do but it’s not covered by Medicaid. I use slippery elm bark as I was taught two or three times a year to keep things tuned up! I consistently similar or worse reactions to antibiotics, but haven’t take them now since 1993, and haven’t had a cold or the flu, or any infections at all, since.

  15. April 21, 2015 at 10:14 am

GM TOD! …..looks like the wait is over

I don’t know enough about the human trafficking bill (but I’m under the assumption the D’s caved on the abortion language) and at the very least they allowed Mrs. Lynch to be used as a pawn….guaranteeing that this will become the norm:

    • April 21, 2015 at 10:24 am

The Hyde restriction apply to all funds? WAIT A MINUTE.

      • April 21, 2015 at 10:28 am

This is what was put out by GOP…..I’m hearing that Hyde will not apply towards the funds that will be collected from the perps (which is what D’s originally opposed as an expansion of Hyde…after the idiots didn’t read the bill and see the GOP snuck it in) here is initial statement from Reid:

        • April 21, 2015 at 10:29 am

          OK, thanks, LP. Better!

        • April 21, 2015 at 10:32 am

BTW, did you see Manchin’s big swipe against Reid? About how Reid’s leadership didn’t work? He also had this to say about working with Republicans. UGH.

          • April 21, 2015 at 10:35 am

WHOA, not sure what happened with that tweet there. Yikes.

            Here’s the key graph:

“Manchin, a moderate, said that with Republicans in control of the upper chamber, he now has the opportunity to work with the majority to get legislation passed.”

            GIVE ME A BREAK.

          • April 21, 2015 at 10:39 am

He is a total squish. I’m was sure he would switch parties after the mid-terms. I stopped listening to Manchin after being W.V. Gov (he was a strong supporter of the ACA) then after becoming Senator he started trashing it along with anything the President opposed. Everything he does is so calculated (like his supposed standing up to the NRA w/ Pat Toomey) Every time I see him I get flashbacks of former Sen. Nelson of Nebraska.

Morning, LPlains. Hope your Tuesday is off to a great start, and you are working hard! 😀 😀

I know nothing about the human trafficking bill either, but I’m leery about the assumption re D’s caved. Question – maybe the D’s compromised in some way instead of caving? Consider, they are in the minority…and democracy, if working well, often calls for compromise.

      • April 21, 2015 at 10:34 am

It started with a headache which prevented me from going back to sleep 😦 I agree it probably wasn’t a total cave….my grievance was that the morons didn’t read the bill after the mark up and realize that GOP snuck in the abortion language (this after the original agreement didn’t have the Hyde language) so by cave I guess they I mean that they shot themselves in the foot and could have avoided this whole situation.

          April 21, 2015 at 11:01 am

GOP has removed the Hyde expansion language. So yes you’re right that Dems should have caught this a long time ago, but it doesn’t look like a “cave”. Of course they are free to add more amendments, God help us.

    • April 21, 2015 at 10:29 am

      BUT, there’s this:

      • April 21, 2015 at 11:19 am

Sure, it’s early. But at this point, few expected Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell of Kentucky to be as accommodating as he has been. CQ Vote Watch, a new tool that offers daily reports on voting patterns, shows that Obama’s victory percentage on Senate votes where he’s taken a position is at 82 percent.

Legislating remains tough, but the deals on Medicare payments to doctors, Homeland Security funding, and bipartisan cooperation on cybersecurity and the No Child Left Behind reauthorization indicate that predictions of complete breakdown were premature.

        Me, too, me, too!!

Until President Obama came along, I never ever paid such close attention to his everyday work, to these annual events and to the work of the First Lady. They have inspired me beyond all words.

I’m looking forward to staying very involved with President Obama’s work. There will be a grassroots development process, and I’M IN. This is what we who have been with him heart, soul and mind have to look forward to after he leaves office and I feel encouraged that there is such a very good place to focus our energies. So sign up and be a part of the movement!!!!
