A watched Rachel last night. Was glad Hillary is talking about changing Citizens United even if it requires state ratification. More qualms emerged though since my main complaint is her ease of lying, not unlike most politicians with their say what they want to hear, anything to get elected mode. I worry when a person routinely lies about small things that do not even matter in the long run. Like her saying at a speech yesterday that three of her grandparents were immigrants and a check found out it was only one. We are so spoiled by PBO’s integrity and honesty, two important qualities that elicit trust.
I know what you mean, Obama Grandmama. When they stretch a situation to where it requires them to tell a lie such as this, then you really question everything they say and believe almost none of what they say! Good for you for fact-checking!

I spoke to a couple of people here in MD who know the Governor well and asked them why Martin is waiting until the end of May or early June to announce and the common answer I got was money. I think he knows he has a message that will resonate throughout the country with Progressives but it takes so much money to run these elections and he says he wants to be sure that his family and friends really think he can do this successfully. I’m told he is not doing this to be “her” running mate but that he really wants to win the nomination. Who knows he may just catch on with the nation and really give her a run at this thing. One thing that has disappointed me is that most of the OFA leaders in MD seem to be in Hillary’s camp which surprised me since Martin was such a popular Governor here. I guess that old saying, “out of sight, out of mind” applies here. Granted, most of the people who ran the Obama Campaigns and Anthony Brown Campaigns here in MD were women and they are apparently convinced that she is their best female shot at the Presidency. Still disappointing to see since their own Governor might end up being her strongest competition.

I feel that Hiliary has convinced everyone that it is INDEED her time and her time only. Remember how upset she & Bill were because Barack wouldn’t step aside and let her have the nomination. Their belief was that he could run in 2016. So now She will do everything she can to make sure she’s the Democrate candidate. But I’m not so easily swayed.

President Obama raised $1.1B in 2012. And although she’s running on getting big money out of politics, Hillary’s camp says their goal is to raise $2.5B. Now where’s all that money going to come from? I think this is part of why no one wants to run against her. That and the fact that the DNC is throwing all their eggs in her basket and most see no reason for a primary, including Harry Reid.
I continue to hold out hope there will be challengers. But seeing Deval Patrick join Bain and Martin O’Malley hedging a bit is really depressing. I even saw a piece that quoted him:

So I’m not sure what’s going on here but it sure feels like a steamroller to me.
My gut and I have nothing other than a gut feeling is that VP Biden is not going to run. I know that this will disappoint a lot of people here at TOD but I just don’t see it happening. They all seem to be stepping aside to let her have her crown. I think Martin will run but the problem with delaying is that she is taking up all the political oxygen. 2016 is very different from 2007 when we knew we had a formidable candidate who could move the Nation to beat her. This was also before Citizens United when Corporations were still corporations and not people. In today’s elections one gazzilionare can keep a candidate who has a moderate chance of winning in the race for quite a while until they gain traction. Martin is out there railing against wall street so there ain’t nobody knocking on his door to throw millions his way to keep him afloat. Martin has a great progressive message, he’s authentic with integrity and those used to be the tangible qualities that would make you a strong candidate in the past….now it’s all about the money!

What if something happens to her or she stumbles? What then? Why are they so beholden? Why don’t they believe in building a HUGE bench so we have a structure in place for years to come? We’ve seen how this is playing out on a state and local level, especially with the intrusion of the Kochs. Regarding Obamacare, I also read that HRC is willing to compromise on a medical device bill. For crying out loud, that is a huge part of why it works financially! I’m thoroughly disgusted by all this stupidity and the DNC is on my last nerve. Honestly, I feel sick to my stomach about this. President Obama lives and breathes for the middle class and it’s genuine. He doesn’t have an inauthentic bone in his body.
