Finding another leader with President Obama’s character traits, intelligence, energy, commitment, and dedication to making our lives better may be entirely impossible to match. I do not see Hillary matching him in any way. However, she would be somewhat better than a Republican. I say somewhat because I see her compromising with them to do what they want as well as selling out to the corporatists. I do not see her standing up to them or having guiding principals that she will stand up for. A predictor of future behavior is past behavior, that is what scares me.

I think just for laughs, before I sign off for the night, I’ll pop in to my spam folder and see if it’s groaning. In the 94 Northridge earthquake, I lost my chimney (pulled away from the side of the house I was living in at the time) and all glassware, china, vases, pretty much anything breakable as it exploded out of all the cabinets in my place. I learned also never to put glass jars of spaghetti sauce and pickles on the top pantry shelves. This was just a little tremble….. thankfully πŸ™‚

Brief note on the HRC announcement … which I’m guessing was made “via social media” today … sorry but I had to miss that one.

I think her rollout was typical of how she’d be as President … to her, it’s a check box for her career/life and maybe even “showing” Bill … bottom line: she’ll be calling it in. Maybe it would have been different in ’08, if Barack Obama hadn’t stepped in. She got all gussied up for that one. But now? I think even she is bored with the whole idea of running.

But so it goes. And, at the very least, I’ve cleaned up my “following” list on twitter tonight, a bit. Goodnight, TODville! Here’s to a good Obama week.

    April 13, 2015 at 1:56 am

I managed to stay away from my computer for most of the day, which is good. It is going to be long time until 2016. A couple of thoughts.

First, I thought HRC’s rollout was much better this time around. She made it about the electorate rather than herself. In comparison to 2007, it was a huge improvement.

Second, this is HER rollout and I would not expect her to talk about PBO in that context. She is the candidate, and she deserves her time. She is going to be getting enough shit from the Rs, she doesn’t need it from us when it isn’t justified. And frankly I would be very surprised if she distanced herself too much from PBO, because we are out there and she and her campaign team know it.

Third, they need to work hard on getting their supporters under control, but we all know from experience you only have so much control over them. Hell, PBO can’t get Chuck Schumer under control! We can’t blame her for every idiotic thing they say or do, and we shouldn’t be surprised at pushback. Look how upset we get about digs at PBO, and there is no reason to think her supporters don’t feel the same.

Fourth, I sincerely hope some other candidates enter the race. She needs the challenge and the practice, and hopefully they will mover her to the left.

Fifth, I sincerely hope that with the number of O team members they have on staff they will follow the same procedures for getting out voters, registering new voters, etc that we all did for PBO.

Finally, I will not be pounding the pavement or phones for Hillary the way I did for PBO, but I will support her or whoever wins the nomination. There simply is too much at stake to run the risk of an R occupying the WH. We CANNOT let that happen, for PBO’s legacy if for no other reason. That also means we can’t contribute to huge divides among the Ds or it will jeopardize D turnout. And I need think we need to use some of PBO’s empathy here. It is OK that her supporters feel about her the way we do about PBO, and we have to give them latitude for feeling that way. Hell, we need those supporters to get out to do the things so many of us did last time around. In the meantime, I am going to enjoy the rest of the days that I wake up with PBO as our president. He has much that he wants to accomplish yet, and I intend to enjoy every minute of it rather than worrying about Hillary:-)

      April 13, 2015 at 2:31 am

I’ll vote for whomever is our nominee. In the meantime, I’m Ridin’ with Biden! That’s where I’d like to see a groundswell of support. He’s earned it, longer than the last 6+ years. I’ve been watching his career for decades, and he’s a true statesman and would be another gift to our country and the world.

And I’ll be enjoying “the rest of the days that I wake up with PBO as our president,” right beside you! Goodnight.

Firefox, this is a very mature, sensible, empathetic and common sense statement. You’re right–we mustn’t confuse Hillary’s supporters with herself. They will say things that will aggravate us, but that doesn’t necessarily represent her views. And yes, those supporters are going to have to get out and do the hard work that we all did last time for PBO. If they do that, then I will respect their commitment and I will certainly vote for her. We do not need a divided Democratic electorate–too much is at stake.

    • April 13, 2015 at 9:09 am

      GM Foxfire…

      thank you for your thoughts…

The President has done so much and brought us so far…yet the DEMs go out of their way to Dis him and erase his accomplishments…Hillary’s roll out continued that….ending her video by saying that America Needs a Champion…as if the President has not been a champion…

her PuMAS took note of that and proceeded to do the same…… Planned Parenthood stated that now we will have a champion for women and women’s health…grrrrrrr

i understand about not contributing to the divide or depressing the vote…and i will do my best to always keep the long view in mind

i will do as you do…enjoy the time we have left with our President…and i have un-followed a few folks…just to keep my own sanity.

So no are you ready for the coronation emails in my inbox. Not surprising since I unsubscribed from EVERYBODY’s list on 11/05/14 and told them politely to get stuffed and don’t darken my inbox ever again. But what did show up in my inbox today was an email entitled “Ready for Boldness?”; Join Harry Reid, Elizabeth Warren and 5,000 democratic leaders telling the 2016 Democratic presidential nominees to campaign on big bold economic populist ideas!!!!! Sign here!!! I open up the email and there’s a pix of Warren, Reid, along with Alan Grayson, and Van Jones. Some Progressive PAC going BOLDLY I guess. Huh… back to sipping my tea. πŸ™‚

Anytime I see Van Jones and Alan Grayson, I think of loud mouths who have accomplished very little – but they do rile up the left wing into a frenzy with all their popular talk. President Obama is able to accomplish a lot with a calm, soft voice and little fanfare – why can’t these Bold Progressives focus on getting stuff done, instead of just spouting provocative words? They’ve learned nothing.

On our 20th anniversary (21 + years ago) my wife and I went to a supper club with live (swing, oldie, 50s) music and dancing to celebrate. I told the band leader that it was our 20th anniversary and so he asked what “our” song was so he could play it. We both agreed that “our” song was “Octopus’ Garden”. The poor guy flashed a sad smile and said, “Hmmmmm, I don’t know that one.”

      • April 13, 2015 at 7:24 am

Aside from being an enormous betrayal, it makes no sense. What on earth, could they hope to gain by alienating Obama voters?

          April 13, 2015 at 7:52 am

It appears that Hillary.. or Hillary’s supporters feel they need to run against the current President.. we all know how that turned out the last time they tried running against him. Maybe they ought to recognize what success is and run with the winner- the guy who saved this country and made it far better… and remember that the GOP is the enemy of this country. I have never not voted, ever.. and I have never voted for a repub.. Gawd help Hillary and Co. if they screw this up.

    Helms–Burton Act of 1996.

Another Bill Clinton mess that our PBO has to deal with….it essentially gave away the power of the President to lift sanctions on Cuba over to Congress.

Thanks Bill, your mess up list keeps getting longer and longer.

So Carly Fiorina thinks she may run for President. She says Hillary has no accomplishments.

    Carly Fiorina,

    1. Fired as Ceo of Hewlett-Packard for incompetence.
    2. Made a weird Demon Sheep video against Babara Boxer.

I had that happen to me once, some nut tried to purchase cigars with my number. Now I have my card set up that if any out of the ordinary charge is made I’m immediately notified. You might want to look into credit freeze as an added layer or security.

  24. April 13, 2015 at 8:30 am

I think Hillary better reel in her supporters. She don’t want to make the people who supported this President and still do support him upset.
