There’s no Katie in the TOD family’, then my eyes saw the weight and height which I initially thought were typos, and it clicked.}

        It’s stunning Betsy, I suspected today would bring out some ugly, but not this much. The rage of the Hillary diehards at us ‘Obots’ being less than enthusiastic is almost comical, and they don’t even get that most of the problem is supporters like them, rather than her.

    Why has Hillary Clinton’s camp begun its bid for the 2016 presidency campaigning against President Obama’s accomplishment and legacy, instead of highlighting what Hillary has over the Republicans? It is beginning to sound like it’s a Clinton-Obama race; but I thought PBO could not run again.

    Oh, and someone should tell the Clinton advisors that those who do not learn from history are bound to repeat it.

    The Opponents of TPP Haven’t Convinced Me

    I’ll say right up front that I am – as yet – undecided about whether or not to support the Trans Pacific Partnership (TPP) agreement. For a lot of liberals, there’s a slam dunk case against it. But the arguments haven’t convinced me yet.

    First of all, I think President Obama is right. We live in a globalized world and trade with other countries is a fact of life. Our only option is to create the best conditions for ourselves and the rest of the world. And so its not a matter of simply rejecting trade deals, its the content that matters.

    Simply screaming NAFTA! doesn’t cut it for me. All trade deals are not the same. As an example, both the United Auto Workers and the United Food and Commercial Workers supported the free trade agreement President Obama negotiated with South Korea a few years ago. So its clear that there are good trade agreements and bad ones.

    Just as we’ve had to note lately that no agreement with Iran over their nuclear weapons program is going to be perfect, we have to accept that no trade deal is ever going to be perfect. By nature, negotiations like this mean making compromises. Ultimately then, the question will be whether or not TPP is good enough.

        2. Some people never learn from history. It’s like 08 and the PUMAs all over again. Today, some have been losing their minds because everyone won’t jump up and down screaming: “HILLARY!!!!!!!!!!!” all because people want a primary where there are a slate of candidates who will tell voters their policies and then earn votes. It’s an election, not a coronation. She is not automatically entitled to the presidency. She wins the primary and gets the nomination, awesome. Then she hopefully goes on to crush the GOP.

        It’s going to be long election days.

        On this, you and ABL have it right.

          What brought on my sad smile is her assumption from this vantage point that HRC has announced so there’ll be no other announcement. It’s sad too that by their very behaviour they may discourage potential participants. Talk about divisive behaviour, it’s like it was just waiting to burst forth.

              I would never have thought that they’ve been sitting on venom all this time – except for maybe de Rothschild and her ilk, but the way they burst out of the starting gate today says a lot to me. Although, to be fair, there are some in our corner who also seem like they were waiting to unleash too. Smh – there’s nothing good in this, and quite frankly, IMO, if HRC were a more principled candidate she would have corralled her closer, more rabid supporters beforehand and set the tone she wanted with them, so they could in turn pass that down. I don’t see anything different in this start than in the way she ended the last round.

              Morning, NoSpin. Crossing my fingers that you are right. This assumption/presumption that #wethepeople need a saviour – female or otherwise – doesn’t sit well with me, especially after PBO has worked tirelessly to get many to understand and accept that ‘we are the change we need’.

    We all knew that this day was going to come and we knew how frustrated we would feel by Hillary supporters who would try to stamp all over the accomplishments of our President to pump up their queen. But I’m trying to remind myself that all of this 2016 preoccupation is a distraction from what we have to to now in 2015. There are important races going on this year–in fact, the election of three Supreme Court justices in the state of PA is probably the most important one in the state’s history since the last time three seats became vacant was in the eighteenth century. That election alone will determine the state’s redistricting for the next ten to twenty years. So there are people to register, primaries to win, voters to get to the polls. This is also the critical time when we need to be recruiting and working with potential candidates for US House and Senate in 2016. We need massive Democratic turnout in the next two years if we have any hope of a decent future. So I’m going to let the Hillary folks do their thing–if they want to engage in all the hard and grubby, precinct by precinct work to get her elected, they are welcome to it. We have a president to support for the next 20 months and we have other vital elections to win.

      We also need a very robust, adult DEM Primary, so that whomever emerges is as prepared as possible to motivate Voters with their message and demonstrated commitment to it. That is the only way we save America from the plutocrats and their GOP servants.

        Bob, I completely agree that we need a robust, adult Dem primary and I think there’s still a good chance we’ll see others step in as the Hillary fever wanes in a couple of months. I just know how important other races are and how focused our troops have to be if we ‘re going to have a chance of winning. It’s a big temptation among my fellow Dems to wait for the big one and slacken up in other years and we just can’t afford that luxury.

    after the 2008 campaign, i said there’s no way lady walmart could ever win a national election. not even close. one day into this one now, and look what’s already happening?!? i can’t believe this clinton family is preying upon on us yet again. i really thought when president obama kicked their butz in 2008 we were finally rid of them, and yet they’re still here. this is a nightmare. i know this is unlikely and not shared by everyone here, but i still believe senator elizabeth warren is the only one with the smarts and ability to fire up crowds that could overcome this mess. still keeping my fingers crossed.

        that’s why i couldn’t believe she was gearing up to do this again. she and her husband have been such divisive figures for so long that her running is almost the only way a republican could win the white house again. i really think both clintons are certifiable narcissists and keep doing this to feed their own egos, more than trying to help the world. how can they not see this themselves?!? if they really cared about helping the world, they would’ve decided not to run. i really hope a democrat can stop them again in the primaries. it’s our only hope.

      Poor Harriet Christian may she rest in peace. Apparently she died in 2013. She lived long enough to see PBO win in 2008 and again in 2012 only to succumb to cancer October 2013. She did not think he would win and was wrong. I am sorry she did not live to see the first female president but she was all wrong about PBO. He is the most adequate president that the USA has had in years.
