Mrs Greenspan is incompetent. She just assumed that Joaquin Castro must be Cuban because his last name is Castro ?

He reminded her that he is Mexican, not Cuban…..

So there was no arrest warrant on Mr. Scott.

This is a sad ending all the way around. This man had his life taken from him, the children loses a father-figure and now any possibility of getting the financial support they deserve from their father.

msnbc is reporting he owes 18,000 and there was a warrant for his arrest.

        April 10, 2015 at 12:26 pm

Regardless to how much he owed, its no justification for shooting the man 8 times IN THE BACK.
You know where he lives, probably where he hangs out at, if you aren’t able to arrest him now, there’s always tomorrow.
Or 4:00 in the morning, the way they serve Warrants out here.

once again the MSM demonizes the victim in a attempt to change the meme…

      • April 10, 2015 at 1:38 pm

Well, as expected, the trial of Walter Scott, who was the VICTIM of a murder, has begun.

      April 10, 2015 at 12:31 pm

Even if there was an arrest warrant Walter Scott wasn’t stopped for that reason because the car wasn’t even registered to him. So the killer cop didn’t know who he was stopping. Only that it was a black guy with an expensive car that he wanted to harass just because he could.

Well, Donna, it’s beyond belief that those running in 2016 don’t get that. Do they have any idea how many hours of labor all of us put in to elect Barack Obama, how many people we talked to, doors we knocked on, hard-earned dollars we contributed. Do they think that voters magically appeared on election day because they just felt like voting? It simply staggers me to hear the assumptions being made about the Obama Coalition just jumping into the HRC column. There is too much at stake here for that kind of naivete to continue.

Donna, I really don’t think that the Dems that might run really understand what President Obama has meant to us, and that any deviation from his vision or his policies will not be tolerated.

      • 39 donna dem 4 obama
        April 10, 2015 at 1:13 pm

I don’t mind people having their own vision. We don’t want robots running for the WH. We want innovative thinking leaders as our President. They can have their own agenda without tearing down PBO. That’s the lesson I feel they will need to learn. Buying into the notion (that by the way was a big fat FAIL in 2014) that you have to distance yourself from PBO is what I will not tolerate. No two people are exactly the same or will govern exactly the same. Those differences can be made without going negative toward PBO. As much as I adore PBO I don’t believe as he has even stated on many occasions that he has done everything perfectly over his term in office. I admit that I have been frustrated by some things and that’s okay. I never expected perfection. He is the best President of my lifetime and I can say that unequivocally.

What I want from a 2016 candidate is someone who is proud of the accomplishments of the last 8 years and is willing with their own vision to build on it. Do that and you get ALL of me. Don’t do that and you simply get my vote in November 2016 because I bleed blue and any Democrat is better than a Republican.

        • April 10, 2015 at 2:39 pm

When Dems run from the President and his accomplishments it is because they are giving into racism and courting the white racist vote…why shouldn’t Dems be proud of ObamaCare…getting out of two wars…the Iran Deal…advances on Climate Change…LGBT gains…to name a few…they should be shouting it from he roof tops…why aren’t they….This is the kind of message that will get DEMs to organize and work to get out the vote…that will make folks believe that we will continue to move Forward…

i like what you said in that tweet Donna…it will take more than just a vote to win the WH….it will take a belief that we can build on the future by standing on the accomplishments of the President

    Good Southwest Morning TOD Family!

Sending love and best wishes to everyone. Have been furiously lurking lately. So much going on and so much to keep up with. Love seeing the President in Jamaica (the PM’s public displays of affection notwithstanding) and now in Panama.

Went to a book reading and signing for Ta-Neihsi Coates on Wednesday. He read an excerpt from his new book (not out as yet) that was written in response to trying to find a way to talk to his son about the dangers of being a Black man in this society. The excerpt centered around an interview he conducted with the mother of his friend and Howard University classmate, who was murdered by police two blocks from his home in Prince George’s County. Needless to say, it was absolutely heartbreaking.

Mr. Coates is a wonderful writer. His comments and observations about the legacy of this country in regard to Black people are well thought out and I felt, dead on. He also, of course, spoke at some length about Walter Scott.

That same day, I had the distinct displeasure of hearing Tavis Smiley on NPR speaking about his relationship with Maya Angelou. Of course, he went off an a “me, me, I, I,” tangent. I laughed out loud when Amy Goodman put the snatch to him by saying, “Now getting back to Ms. Angelou…” Loved it!

Love this description of the President straddling/bridging the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans, symbolic for our nation’s FIRST multinational leader:

    From the pool report:
“‎He was walking south, Atlantic to his left, Pacific to his right.
POTUS had shades on, jacket thrown over his right shoulder. Offered only a “hi guys” with a smile.”

  14. April 10, 2015 at 1:00 pm

I didn’t know there was a passenger in the car with Walter Scott. I hope he or she could explain why he ran from that cop. I still believe the cop was wrong in killing him. And the fact that he pick up that stun gun and drop it by Scott’s body, he knew he was wrong too. He knew it didn’t look right to shoot a man in the back.

      April 10, 2015 at 1:10 pm

The passenger is a male co-worker. I want to know why they detained and searched him…..

Also, I have been looking at models of tasers and Slager’s is shaped like the model that has a camera included at the bottom of the hand grip…..

CNN tried to compare it to just the cartridge which makes no sense at all.

I can’t read any of this about HRC. I know it is frightening stuff, but it makes my stomach sick at the thought of a President Ron Paul, Ted Cruz, Rick Perry or any of the repugs if she fails. I can only pray that HRC is successful in her endeavors. If not we are all screwed, since there are no other viable candidates running against her. It appears that Democrats have put all of their eggs into one basket and I believe that is a huge mistake.

PS Hillary does not frighten me. I just want the woman to go away.

        • April 10, 2015 at 10:17 pm

So do I….and take her husband with her.

I saw Monica Lewinsky’s interview with Barbara Walters that was done years ago.at the same time I also saw Monica do a talk on TED.
But my point is why in the world would these two think they are entitled to come back to the WH?
I hope for her sake that she will not go through with this and leave her legacy as SoS somewhat in tact.
She is not even grateful for that.
As I have said before is this HRC revenge moment toward us or Bill?
Either way, we loose and she has nothing to offer.

I am not voting for her.
I am not loyal to a party that helps disrespect a President who since the day he took office has cleaned up shit from every angle that has been thrown his way.
          F***Hillary! I’m riding with Biden!

It’s interesting Bob because she has an extremely strong following on Facebook (always has) according to my TL but just the opposite on my Twitter TL. It’s interesting the way those two social medias are clashing. At least with my followers.

Bobfr – HRC has ZERO chance at the presidency. Doesn’t matter how much folks try to gin up the “inevitability” factor for the woman.

Deval Patrick said it best “People read inevitability as entitlement, and the American people want their candidates to sweat for the job. They want them to actually make a case for the job.”

So everyone can “miss me” with the I will hold my nose and vote Hillary….meme. No way in hell. The woman has done nothing to earn anyone’s vote.

      • April 10, 2015 at 5:29 pm

Agree, nospin. BTW, thank you for your thoughtful note about Sen L Chafee. I responded 🙂

I did not read this before I posted above. I even thought twice about the last sentence.
I am so glad that I followed my heart and left it in.
I am NOT going to vote just because she because she is a woman, white and felt duped.
PBO has and is working too hard for she and her privileged white southern ass and her egotistical husband who are really “Blue Dogs” a/k/a Repubs.
If her alliance with Allison Grimes did not spell out what she really is all about distancing themselves from PBO was not another wakeup call, a test, I do not know what else to say.
Where is Allison? Waiting to come out and run for VP, maybe?
I do not trust Bill, Hillary and can’t stomach Allison Grimes.
So please, I am NOT in the mood for HRC and her “I Am Woman, Watch Me Roar” meme.
          F***Hillary! There, I said it again…..and I mean it!
