come on, you have to admit it was a good one.

Good Evening LovelyPlains.
Congrats on your first place.
I stir away because many of my posts tend not to appear… It might be a message that I should only visit. Hope you have a great evening.
A shout out to NW for today’s recap. Very helpful since I didn’t have a chance to following any news today. Thank you.
You’re welcome.
The Greatest.
Our First Couple is so cool.
Phenominal round-up….which you spoil us with daily. Thanks, Nerdy!
Kas, Turkey: Priced off the Greek Isles? Try southern Turkey.
Kos is out. Kas is in. Economic cataclysm in Greece aside, prices remain high on the Greek islands, which increasingly have less to offer the all-inclusive-resort-averse tourist. Enter the Mediterranean coast of Turkey, and its gem, Kas. While the nearby town of Kalkan has fallen victim to hordes of hard-partying Brits (many a Kalkan restaurant now serves “Full English” brekkies), the old fishing village of Kas remains relatively untouched. Known largely as a divers’ paradise, the city has a hippyish sensibility, partly owing to a number of jazz-playing waterfront watering holes. Visitors interested in the past can use Kas as a base for visits to the nearby Lycian cities of Patara and Xanthos….
Zimbabwe: Once-avoided, now must-visit.
This country’s beauty and bounty have been overshadowed by political unrest and economic collapse over the last few decades, but today, the government is finally stable, the overinflated Zimbabwean dollar is gone, and the prices are low. An international terminal at Victoria Falls Airport set to open in July will make it far easier to get to, and new trips from outfitters like Red Savannah and Cox and Kings give travelers a way to explore the many riches: There’s the spectacular Victoria Falls, the Zambezi, Unesco World Heritage sites like the granite landform Matobo Hills and the colonial charm of cities like Harare. The biggest draw, however, might be the abundance of game, including hippos and lions, on full view on water safaris, like those offered by the new luxury cruiser Matusadona, or the old-fashioned way, by land, at upscale lodges like Bomani Tented Lodge in Hwange National Park…continued
You’re welcome, LP.
You are heading into the vacation industry, LPlains?

Phew! Thought you had collected the millions and was keeping it secret from us while titillating us with trips we can’t have.

No words are adequate to express the horror of Mr. Scott’s murder. Eight shots in the back. For no reason whatsoever that a sane person could comprehend. It is a bit of comfort, to me that we have the tape and the PO is charged with murder. Hate crime would be appropriate also. This guy needs to never see the light of day.

HOW TO MAKE A SECRET PHONE CALL
To show how hard phone privacy can be, one artist examined the CIA, consulted hackers, and went far off the map (with a stop at Rite Aid):
“There’s a lot you can find in the depths of the dark web, but in 2013, photographer and artist Curtis Wallen managed to buy the ingredients of a new identity. After purchasing a Chromebook with cash, Wallen used Tor, virtual marketplaces, and a bitcoin wallet to purchase a fake driver’s license, insurance card, social security number, and cable bill, among other identifying documents. Wallen saw his new identity, Aaron Brown, as more than just art: Brown was a political statement on the techno-surveillance age. “I started looking into details on cell phone surveillance while I was working on Aaron Brown,” Wallen said. “It opened my eyes to how insidious these little things really are.”
…With his latest project, “Proposition For An On Demand Clandestine Communication Network,” (PropCom) Wallen doubles down on this anti-surveillance modus operandi. Step-by-step, Wallen instructs people in the laborious—and damned near impossible—art of ducking cell phone surveillance. This time, Wallen looked elsewhere for inspiration: Namely, the CIA’s faulty cell phone tradecraft used in the 2005 extraordinary rendition of Hassan Mustafa Osama in Italy, and in their surveillance of Lebanese Hezbollah. In both cases, the CIA operatives’ closed cell phone networks were undone when Italian authorities and Hezbollah acquired phone metadata….continued
The cover of Wallen’s handbook, presented inside a custom CIA-style “burn bag.”
Fella reminds of that movie with Will Smith/Gene Hackman ‘Enemy of the State’ :mrgeen:
so, he went through all the trouble to keep it ‘all secret from the gobinment’ and then posted about it on world wide web? #smart

I learned from the master 🙂
Rahm Emanuel is still Mayor of Chicago, Rachel just said that AP has call the race.
Now the election is over I guess we will learn were the Obama Library will be located. It was suppose to be announced the end of March.
Last week, I wrote a comment about murder of my close friend (Ms. Joan Kagezi), classmate and colleague, who I have known since we were both 5 years. We attended the same schools from 1st grade until completion of undergraduate. One of my sisters and I remained very close friends with Joan until her tragic death.
She was the most Senior Principal Prosecutor of Uganda responsible for International terrorism cases, genocide, domestic violence, and human trafficking.
A widow and single mother of 4 children, Joan was gunned down in broad day light as she and 2 of her children had stopped her official car to buy fruit from a kiosk on her way home. She regular stopped at this road side vendor to buy fruit so someone had trailed her routine. One her children held her as she was dying in the car (she was shot twice through the driver’s window).
This is a crime that has shocked & paralyzed the nation because of its brutality against a civil servant, disregard for the children in the car, and the arrogance of the killers who were not concerned about the many on-lookers at the scene. The shooters wore no disguise on the scene in the capital city.
The nation is also distraught about the fact that a dedicated, incorruptible public servant was not given protection although she had been entrusted with prosecuting all the high-profile cases including people within and out of government as well as international terrorist.
Joan was set to present a case against Al Shabab suspects, who were due in court the next day. These suspect are being held on charges that they planted bombs in a rugby club were ordinary (mainly young) people were gathered watching soccer’s world cup a few years ago. 79 young people died on the spot and many more were injured.
Joan was laid to rest this Thursday. Many countries (including the US), legal organizations, and people in the legal profession across the globe, sent their message of condolences and many international representatives attended her funeral.
Today, there is some announcement from the police that they have made some arrests of people they suspect of some involvement in Joan’s murder.
Given the nature of an under-developed justice system, I do not know if these suspects were indeed involved. We will see how this develops.
But what struck me is the head nation’s police making the announcement of the arrest a few hours ago and present at the alleged hiding place – among the ordinary people.
Reports indicate that one of those arrested was an ex-GITMO detainee – his name shows he is of Ugandan heritage. This is the first time I am hearing about Ugandans being detained in GITMO!
Other reports indicate that US personnel were involved in arresting these suspects and they were working with local police. The US Embassy in Uganda has sent out a written statement that indeed, some of their personnel were involved in the operation leading to this arrest – attached video shows personnel from western countries who are indeed present at the time of arrest.
So if these suspects were really involved in Joan’s murder, here is a heads up when you hear about ex-GITMO detainees committing crimes. He seemed to have been released in 2006 (conflicting reports on the time);
BBC and African media covered the murder of Joan in many segments. US news outlets that reported on this were mainly the newspapers and NPR. I would not be surprised to see more coverage especially now when there is now a mention that an ex-GITMO detain is one of the suspects and there is an angle to include PBO.
Also related to this is that over the last few days, Uganda has been heightened security alert as Al Shabab threatened to carry out the same school massacres in Uganda and they did in our eastern neighbor Kenya a few days ago
This is one of the local reports with the video.

This must be such a hard time for you, GCLinda, as well as for the members of Joan’s family! Wherever one looks it seems like violence is raging.
yes it is – thanks for your concern;
it is a particularly hard time for her children – the 11 year old son was also in the car as they shot his mum;
of course the parents are not young any more and they are forced to live through this tragedy – have said publicly what do they want from us by murdering our daughter
I cannot imagine the impact on the two children who were with her! That is a memory that nothing will be able to erase. One feels so helpless in these situations – I will hold the family and close friends in my thoughts in the coming days.
GCLinda, my prayers go out to you, your sister and the children who had to witness this senseless crime.
Your friend, Joan’s life will not be in vain. I believe that justice will be done and her children will share her memories of how much she loved them and fought for others.
I pray for peace in your hearts.
goopers and nut-n-yahoo in the ever shrinking pool of irrelevance. they built that pool.
Many of us wished that the iran deal will be announced while the treasonous goopers ‘hosted’ the war criminal.
But this is better since the nut has painted himself into a corner.
Fantastic post NW.
Congrats LP on your Au ⭐
Thanks, Nena.
If you listen to some people all cops are angels and the black folks deserve what they got.
Nerdy, you did it again. I spent hours today working in the Democratic office, keeping it open for walk-ins, doing needed tasks to get in touch with newly registered Dems and so fell hopelessly behind on the news. But here it all is in all its tragedy, shock, craziness, and glory. You give us everything we need to begin a new day tomorrow, armed with facts and enriched with understanding. Thank you seems pretty weak, but it’s very deeply meant.
Welcome home, JackieG!
Thanks, Jackie and thank you for all your hard work.

Let’s hope for a significant outcome when all is said and done. Ferguson has to change.
baby steps.
I hope that’s the case, after the “news” media were all talking low turnout blah blah blah all day … maybe it was, maybe it wasn’t, but looks as though many who did vote voted to move their city forward.
“No taxation without representation.” Certainly applies to what was going on in Ferguson for too long, and hopefully the residents will get some relief.

I didn’t mean to identify myself as THAT shallow, but I needed a laugh when I saw that tweet so much after all the reading, that I laughed embarrassingly loud and out loud! Ha. People came running.
Wasn’t he the one always sniping at PBO’s heels? Now he is on the bandwagon ala unohoo?
Truth is, there are only a handful of these congress critters that I can keep straight. Now that you mention it I have a vague memory that there was something he was criticizing , but I haven’t a clue what!
Nice!
Yes. Always good to see instances when they unite behind PBO as they should.
Always. We’ve seen that be “too rare,” before, at times.
