Good afternoon, GGail! I guess they’re hinting we should start working off some of the Easter chocolate some of us may have been consuming in a rather profligate manner.

As everybody has said in the past, FLOTUS seems to be getting younger and cuter. How is this even possible? Maybe knowing that there are fewer than 2 years in the fishbowl left.

What a wonderful picture, it is obvious that POTUS and FLOTUS have run out of f’s to give.

Go, GGail! TKO on First here. Hey, maryl1. Thank you Chips for this hilarious and gorgeous photo of the Heavyweight Champions of the World of Integrity, Courage, Determination, Compassion, and Character. This is how they handle the slings and arrows of outrageous baloney and outraged blustering phonies. They have already won this fight many times over, and are just showing that they’ve got what it takes and they get the joke and they are here to do right by themselves and everyone of good faith and spirit. Daymaker, this photo. I love TOD.

πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ See, Otter, it’s questions like these that prevented me from admitting that I have one …okay two…. of these in a drawer…somewhere.

                  • April 6, 2015 at 8:26 pm

I got at least four of these that I forgot where I put them.
                    Now, I consider them hidden.
Lord, you brought back memories from my grandmother.
I attended a funeral last year in Georgia and the Funeral Home gave these out to the family.(in white)
I thought that it was a nice touch. We all know what tissues will do when the combination of sweat and tears.
As a young girls my sisters and I got into a lot of trouble laughing at family members who had residue of tissue rolls on their faces.
Especially them men with their bristle beards. We just found that hilarious! Looking back then, we teenage girls found most things hilarious….
Today they would not even know what that beautiful flowery piece of material would be used for….so sad.

I like that touch by the Georgia Funeral Home – though, as you suggest, the younger folks in that family probably wouldn’t know what it was for.

    On a different note:

I just listened to Dr. Moniz briefing the press on the Iran Deal. Man, that made my day – a real physicist explaining nuclear energy, nuclear medical isotope and nuclear weapons technology, the differences and the “parameters”, i.e. the limiting numbers.

What got reported up to now about the negotiations sounded to me as the “fog of war”, but this at least made sense.

    • 89 vcprezofan2
      April 6, 2015 at 5:34 pm

Did the press ask any sensible, relevant questions, or was this a presser where Dr. Moniz was able to speak uninterrupted?

      • April 6, 2015 at 5:57 pm

“Those who made a fool of themselves were dutifully smacked down by the superior smile^H^H^H^H^H knowledge of Dr. Moniz”.

I am pretty sure that there will be no action on either of these bills until after June 30th.
Positive that No new sanctions will be voted on until then. That is Kirk-Menendez.

Cardin and Kaine said today, I think, that they will wait until after June 30 and then ask for 60 days for the Senate to vote on the Corker BS.

It was reported yesterday, can’t remember where, that PBO has a ” waiver ” included in the Congressional Sanctions Law that is now in place….

He can activate it to lift those sanctions if Congress refuses to repeal them.

He can lift the executive branch placed sanctions at any time .

    Some de-bunking:
RW talking point that Iran hardliners oppose the deal the way the GOP does is false.

Today President Rouhani went to speak to The Mullahs and we do not yet know how that went. My guess is it went pretty well.

What we Do Know, is that Supreme Leader Khameni was aboard every step of the way.
We Do Know that higher-ups in the Iranian Republican Guard have called the Deal a victory for Iran.

GOP and the blood-soaked bully are out there all on their own. And the floe they are on is melting as we speak.

    • April 6, 2015 at 6:05 pm

Also interesting – the interview whit NYT’s Tom Friedman (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Thomas_Friedman): http://www.nytimes.com/2015/04/06/opinion/thomas-friedman-the-obama-doctrine-and-iran-interview.html?_r=0 on the “Iran Deal”.

From a write up in my world

“As is so often the case with major diplomatic breakthroughs, this result was made possible thanks to the alignment of two moderate presidents, in this case Barack Obama and Hassan Rouhani, who have proved willing to put political capital on the line to strike a blow for global peace and prosperity.

Credit must also go to the two chief negotiators, John Kerry for the US and Javad Zarif for Iran, as well as the supporting cast from the P5+1 (United States, Britain, France, China, Russia and Germany), for having the wherewithal to work through the finer details in the face of trenchant opposition.”

Add Domino’s to the list of companies coming under pressure to raise pay.

“We’ve gotta pay more to get people right now,” Domino’s CEO Patrick Doyle said in an appearance on CNBC on Monday morning. “The great news is the economy is moving, it is getting better, it’s getting harder to hire people.”

Doyle did not announce a broad raise for his company’s lowest-paid workers, but other big employers have recently, including McDonald’s and Walmart.

Preview of PBO’s interview with NPR:

“The notion that we would condition Iran not getting nuclear weapons in a verifiable deal on Iran recognizing Israel is really akin to saying that we won’t sign a deal unless the nature of the Iranian regime completely transforms,” Obama said. “And that is, I think, a fundamental misjudgment. I want to return to this point: We want Iran not to have nuclear weapons precisely because we can’t bank on the nature of the regime changing. That’s exactly why we don’t want to have nuclear weapons. If suddenly Iran transformed itself to Germany or Sweden or France then there would be a different set of conversations about their nuclear infrastructure.”

In my opinion, he and his staff are doing a STELLAR job of “selling” the Iran Deal.

    • April 6, 2015 at 6:33 pm

I really hate how the media keeps framing this as President Obama is trying to “sell” “scrambling” on the deal…making it like he some nefarious used car salesman that just got you to buy a car with sawdust in the gas tank.

That’s one of their other BS talking points: President Obama has to “sell” this deal like it is a two day old fish.
Deal is pretty much done and the American people are good with it.
The disrespectful media and RW dopes will do what it is they always do.

A Louisiana lawmaker has introduced an anti-gay religious freedom bill that is broader than the controversial one Indiana Gov. Mike Pence (R) pushed in Indiana and then was forced to clarify after national criticism.

The Louisiana bill, introduced by state Rep. Mike Johnson, lets businesses refuse to serve same sex couples, just like the one in Indiana.

But the Louisiana proposal also goes a step further and allows a private company to not offer benefits to same-sex married couples if there are religious objections, according to the New Orleans Times Picayune. Notably, the legislation also blocks the Louisiana government from taking away state contracts and tax benefits from business owners because of the owners’ views on same-sex marriage.
