Congrats Dudette😊
Thanks v!
Congrats, Dudette!
Thank you LP! 🙂
Pence must have a massive headache!
Great message from UConn. I bet the U President is kicking herself over the tweet typo! Gotta sing it to spell it!!!
Pardon my ignorance, LPlains, but does this mean the team will be coach-less, won’t be in attendance either, thereby forfeiting its place, or that the UConn team wasn’t playing in any case?
UConn, won the national title last year….(and the Final Four is typically where all coaching staffs gather over the 4-day weekend for conferences/banquettes) so have the defending champions not in attendance is especially poignant.
S/N
The UCONN Woman’s team is in the Final Four going for their 3rd straight National title….but that is in Tampa.
I thank you for explaining – makes far more sense to me now. (I actually did a quick google search before asking and couldn’t tell from the first responses whether UConn was playing or not.)
Nerdy you are a champ!
🙂
Nerdy, can never find the (new) words to thank you for these compilations, they’re utterly fantastic and so brilliantly comprehensive – I know I’ll never miss one of the day’s big stories even if I’ve been out and about. Endless thanks.
So, so, so sorry to read about GB’s setback – as you said, Nerdy, everyone here is rooting for her and sending her all the love in the world. GB, keep on battling, our beloved warrior.
All of THIS!
Love and hugs gobrooklyn! ❤
1. I echo your sentiments and wishes about GB. GB, we are holding you up and sending all the good in the world to you. You are brave beyond words.
2. The highest of compliments. Thanks so much, Chipster.
The Kelis dog photo has me crunched over, Nerdy! 😆
🙂
Now see, I would have said “boy, stop playing” and smacked him up side his head.
3) Microgravity makes you feel like a superhero
Hadfield’s favorite thing to do in the reduced gravity environment of the ISS, he said, is to “simply fly -— to push off and glide magically to the other end of the station. It makes me smile to myself, every time.” “We even pose for Superman-like pictures, normally with a big goofy grin on our faces,” he wrote in a second AMA after returning. “But the inside of ISS is small enough that superhero leaps often end in a tumbling crash into the other wall.”….
4) Shrimp cocktail is especially delicious in space
Asked about his favorite food from the Apollo days, Buzz Aldrin remembered the dehydrated shrimp cocktail. “[The food] was mostly freeze-dried so we had to add water to the container and let it set,” Aldrin wrote. “We had very small shrimp that had a little bit of cocktail sauce, and when exposed to water, were very very tasty.” Decades later, Hoffman also named shrimp as his favorite. “The reason is that your sense of smell and taste are reduced in weightlessness, probably because of the fluid shift to the upper body, which fills up your head and makes you feel a bit like you have sinus congestion,” he wrote. “The shrimp in the cocktail were not great, but the sauce had a lot of spicy horseradish, and it really opened your head up. I had a shrimp cocktail before every dinner!”
11) Spacewalking is utterly amazing
“It really does take your breath away. You open that hatch and you look at the Earth — it’s one of those times in your life that you will remember forever,” Mike Hopkins wrote. “It was the most magnificent experience of my life,” Hadfield wrote. “Alone in a 1-person spaceship (my suit), just holding on with my 1 hand, with the bottomless black universe on my left and the world pouring by in technicolor on my right. I highly recommend it.”….continued
Seriously, if you people don’t start addressing me as CiC soon, you are *so* going in spam
😎
We-el, CC is close, isn’t it? Putting *i* (= me) in between wouldn’t seem right. 😉
Do it. Now. – b

😀 You should forward some of the better ones of these, like this one, to PBO.
Yes, Sir, Ma’am!! Uh, wait a minute, where am I? ?
Come, let me tell! Just ONE of them!
[in my best Roger Rabbit voice]
Pppppleeeeeez?!!! 👹😼😇
Chips-in-Charge? Whatever you wish. 🙂

vc holding hands with pf58 and others who so want this to be concluded in triumph for all sides
holding VC hands too….
I’m with you, Pf. Can’t wait until the announcement tomorrow!!
Big mistake—I turned on Ari Melber to hear him featuring Tom Cottons opinion on Iran deal. Then McCain calling for Israel to bomb Iran. A deal looks likely at this point.
GOP and MSNBC will lose their minds if the deal works out.
I hope we get to see this.
Vicki, I made the mistake of watching the same thing, I turned to “Married at first Sight”, and I’m glad I did.
Wow..McCain is calling on Israel to bomb Iran…simply amazing….simply amazing….ODS has made any treasonous comment acceptable/and we have a press that does not call them out for it…
There is reporting that Zarif and the EU rep will be announcing agreement to the press.
Does anyone understand this?
Wouldn’t all the P5+1 need to be present also?
I would think there would be complete coordination to include SOS Kerry.
I fervently wish that the wait of the Iranian people will be rewarded.
Thanks, NW, for the stellar tweet round-up.
Missed GB’s update, sorry to hear that she’s no longer in remission. Group hug and sincere healing thoughts to ((( GB ))).
President Obama is once again flying under the radar of the lazy, self-absorbed MSM on prison reform. Expect to see much more action before Jan 2017.
Here’ @thefix’s tweet, which zooms in on the east/south US:
Thanks Nerdy for the post this evening and am so sad about the setback for GoBrooklyn. 😦
In the last thread Bobfr had a bunch of good tweets on the breakthrough in the negotiations. Any #IranTalks good news is good news, right? More than anything, I’m so happy for our Iranian brothers and sisters who have lived for decades under sanctions that no doubt hurt them as much if not more than hurt the regime.
Remember, all it has to be is an “understanding”. That’s what the deadline was for. Then they can craft an agreement by June.
GoBrooklyn, I send you loving thoughts, Light and Prayer all around you. I have known how hard cancer can be ~ my mother, my sister, a number of dear close friends. Yes, you must do whatever you must do, but I hope some of the alternatives will offer relief, and support healing. God Bless you. You are loved. {{{{{ GoB ❤ }}}}}
Thank you, thank you Pamela.
Yes GB, you have a whole rack of people sending healing thoughts your way. May your medical procedures go well.
Where is SOS Kerry??
Laura Rozen apparently sleeping through the news!
lol, Chipsticks and Rozen sleep thru the big news!
‘Scuse me???
All I hope is that one day bin Laden will be caught.
Wait.
What?
I’ll never forget that day!!!! And YOU snooze through the whole thing!!
I’m always struck that many of us learned of it via a tweet from a guy who lived in the vicinity of the operation and heard loud helicopter noise and became concerned. He started speculating about who might be flying aircraft at that place and time and the next thing you know, a while later we’re being told PBO will be making an announcement very late at night. It was a complete shocker.
It was stunning Meta, here’s that tweet:
And then:
The guy is hilarious.
He really is!!
OMG, THANK YOU for this, Chips. I’ve been wanting to read those again. You are a GEM’s GEM.
It “sounded purposeful” 🙂
Oh, 😀 😀 😀 Chips!
Can’t talk now GGail, I’m waiting at the harbor for the Titanic to arrive.
But you’re not insane.
It’s such a beautiful and compassionate letter.
It really is Meta, all I could think of: There is always hope.
I think he’s saying: “You have the power to control your own destiny. Don’t squander it.”
This is tremendously exciting. I hope PBO and Michelle have a bottle of champagne on ice.
And some Barry White. 🙂
Oh, YEAH. LOLz.
From Julian Bond’s editorial….
I have seen discrimination. I have stood inside businesses that would not serve me because of my race, and I have been told that the rights of those business owners were more important than mine. I countered that logic then, as I do now. We have no crisis of religious discrimination; we have a crisis of fear. I stand against these bills and with those who are fighting to stop them. I refuse to allow discrimination to cloak itself in a shroud of faith. I refuse to give into fear.
I’ve always liked and respected Mr.Bond. That is a perfect response.
OMG!!!!
Have been sneaking peaks during all my meetings …. RT’ing when possible …. we really could be witnessing an unprecedented diplomatic accomplishment, meta!!
BTW, really cool view of SF as we landed this am 🙂
Bob, I’m so thrilled about these efforts. This is definitely history in the making, once again. PBO has been working on non-proliferation since his days in the Senate. He must feel a huge sense of accomplishment.
I hope you are staying in a good area and can enjoy yourself a bit. Let me know if I can answer any questions for you!
It is magnificent – hopefully. In a few hours, we’ll know for sure.
TY Meta for your hospitality. All day meetings in Berkeley. Work prep tonight in Palo Alto. All day meetings here in PA tomorrow. On a plan (totally exhausted) tomorrow night 😀
Oh, no! You need some rest. Well, good luck in your dealings.
TY, meta. Very exciting meetings, for sure 🙂
Bloodthirsty, warmongering MSM in a nutshell:
Peace deflates these propagandists.
It is war that pays them.
Arapaho, I just don’t understand the kind of mind that loves war, death, destruction and chaos over peace. Of course, they’re always convinced that the death suffering and destruction will be borne by someone else and not themselves.
“Sucess” the word we have been hoping for.
“Victory” also.
Tomorrow will be a big day for sane and generous people in the US and around the world. For RW everywhere-not so much.
I’m just wondering if there is an agreement/understanding or if the U.S. is still not there. I know one shouldn’t read too much into facial expressions but the photo of POTUS and Kerry, etc. looks like some detail is still being ironed out; i.e. it doesn’t look celebratory. The other odd thing is no US spokesperson has mentioned agreement. I’m wondering if Iran and Russia and EU are in agreement and they are trying to force agreement on US by announcing it prematurely. Thoughts?
I noticed that the celebrations were coming from others but not USA, forus. Yes, it is a bit worrying. Presumptive closing, as realtors might say.
US journalists are very quiet. In mourning?
Very odd…no US or international news is reporting the update about drafting it tomorrow. CNN and Reuters and AP tweets all refer to Kerry saying “tricky issues remain” and talks drag on. I think the “presumptive close” is a good guess as to what’s being done.
I don’t think the other partners would be so naive at this stage as to think the U.S. can be pressured into something they have not agreed to. I think the caution is about waiting for tomorrow’s draft. They want to be sure that what is put on paper matches the discussion and agreement and can be signed by all. JMO.
I agree meta.
I agree
If there is an announcement, it will be a joint one.
I have the same problem, forus. Your hypothesis may be right.
NW this is simply a magnificent roundup of information.
Thanks, Donna.

G’Night!
yup. you have been relieved of your shift.
Y, ty & gn!
Sweet dreams, gentle folks. I’m outta here, haste post haste – off to read for a bit.

Right-wingers are dumb.
GB…I just want you to know that I’m sending love and strength and hope your way….keep the faith. Been so busy all day, haven’t had the time to check and see what was going on in the world…but I knew that Nerdy had it covered:) Thank you, as always, Nerdy:) Legend, for sure.
So proud of everyone working hard regarding Iran…what an important time to be witness to. Our President achieved his Nobel prize working for peace and getting rid of nukes…this is what its all about. SO proud of the US team and everyone involved for staying with this.
Off to read… {{{{gb}}}
The leader of one of Libya’s rival governments – backed by Islamists and based in Tripoli – has been sacked by its parliament, officials say.
Omar al-Hassi was appointed in August to lead an alternative government after Islamist militia seized the capital.
MPs voted to oust him on Tuesday following allegations he misled parliament about government finances.
Libya has been in turmoil since the Nato-backed removal of former leader Muammar Gaddafi in 2011.

Best wishes, gobrooklyn.
Watched the documentary ‘Going Clear’ about Scientology. It was pretty disturbing in my opinion.

Joni Mitchell is one of my favorite singers of all time. I wore out many of her vinyl albums.
