      NO!!!!!!!!!!

        March 30, 2015 at 8:13 am

NO? Is that ‘no’ to AMK, Don, or to Monday, or to the fact that March is ending and it still isn’t Spring, or is it an existential cry to the universe that you’re not giving in.

        • March 30, 2015 at 8:18 am

😆 I just took it as a cry of injustice from Don in response to Amk’s FURST, but now that you say it Jackie, it could be any of those!

          Gooooood morning to ya!

          No to Monday, Jackie.

Gee, Don, I was hoping it was some great existential cry because I had a full on tantrum this morning about the fact that the antibiotic I took last week has caused more problems than it solved. My poor husband had to endure a big rant about how I was mad as hell and wasn’t going to take it anymore. Of course, I haven’t yet come up with an alternative.

France’s opposition conservative UMP Party has made big gains in local elections, at the expense of the ruling Socialists.

The UMP, led by ex-President Nicolas Sarkozy, boosted the number of councils it controls from 40 to 67 in the vote.

President Francois Hollande’s Socialists and other leftists won 34 councils – down from 61 previously.

Marine Le Pen’s far-right National Front (FN) won at least 60 seats but failed to get control of any council.

    ///

Half of the 40-million-strong French electorate abstained from voting – a figure that was, however, better than the 55.3% abstention rate in the last local elections in 2011.

Couldn’t believe when I saw a while ago that Sarkozy was still skulking around, looking to get back in power – why don’t these characters just crawl away and leave everyone in peace?

Just relieved the National Front didn’t do better, after upping the hate/fear after Charlie Hebdo I was afraid they’d romp home.

Chips, Sarkozy seems to have gone to the same school of bitter men that McCain did. Some people just can’t accept that their time on the stage is OVER and people are sick of them. I’ve never had one single good thought about GW Bush, but at least he has largely shut his mouth since he left office unless his mega creepy former VP.

    • March 30, 2015 at 8:45 am

Thanks, Chips:) I’ll be fine once I GET there, it’s just the getting up really early and having to get going part that gets to me, not being at work….I like lounging!

          March 30, 2015 at 9:02 am

Here’s the thing, Df. Even when you’re retired, you will find a reason why you have to get up early and get something done. I have more places I need to get to and things I need to get done since I retired some years ago than I did when I was working. It’s human nature to fill time this way.

Never mind the nuclear talks, the big news: that photo of PBO I posted last night showing him holding the rails as he got off AF1? And I said my mother’s campaign had finally succeeded?

Chips, I thought he seemed a little annoyed with himself after that little slip. He prides himself on his ability to be agile and I saw a brief look of consternation on this face. By the way, isn’t this the week the White House has a seder for Passover? Is that on the president’s agenda?

      • March 30, 2015 at 9:14 am

I know what he was thinking, Jackie: “Damn it, Mrs Chipsticks will be protesting outside the White House after this.”

It was a very sparse looking week ahead schedule, they just had the President attending meetings at the WH Tuesday to Friday – which probably means something HUGE will happen. Didn’t see any mention of the seder, but it might appear on the schedule yet.

Former Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert has been found guilty of fraud and breach of trust after a retrial.

He had been acquitted in 2012 of taking envelopes stuffed with money from a US-based supporter.

However, a retrial was ordered after the emergence of recordings in which he referred to receiving the money.

Olmert, who served as Israeli PM from 2006 to 2009, is currently appealing a conviction for bribery in 2014 for which he was sentenced to six years.

More than 1,000 men have reportedly been arrested in India’s Bihar state for impersonating candidates in physical fitness tests for the police.

The men had been hired to pass themselves off as the candidates, according to the state police.

The arrests were made over the last fortnight, as documents produced by the men were found to have been falsified.
