Chips, thanks for posting the President Obama/David Simon discussion. It’s been such a crazy day, I would have missed this entirely and lost so much interesting information from PBO. Hope he has a safe trip back.
After such a day of ugliness…Indiana’s law…and SEPTA Transportation Co being forced to accept racist advertising on their buses….the faces of the children…bring such warmth to my heart…Ms Chipsssss.
So the eff letters….. is pronounced Fookey in Brazil and in German, it means Fox?
What a name to have when one live in Canada, USA or any English speaking Nation.
Wow.
“The start of American air operations against Da’ish forces in Tikrit has generated a lot of concerns that this is another foolish move by which the United States is empowering Iran and its allied Shi’ite militias in Iraq.
In this one case, however, the exact opposite is true.
What is critical to understand about the Tikrit offensive is that it was meant to discredit the United States. Two weeks ago, an extremely high-ranking Iraqi officialโa senior cabinet ministerโtold me that the operation was presented by Abu Mahdi al-Mohandis, Iran’s most important cat’s paw in Iraq, to the Iraqi government six days before the start of the operation. At the time, he indicated that the various Shi’ite militias were going to launch the offensive against Tikrit with Iranian support, and he asked if the Iraqi government was interested in participating. He also made it clear that he and his compatriots did not want the United States to participate.
In other words, the Shi’ite militias and their Iranian backers devised this operation on their own; they intended to carry it out regardless of what the Iraqi government did and simply gave Baghdad the option of participatingโbut only at the price of excluding the Americans. It was an operation designed to demonstrate that the Shi’ite militias (and the forces at the disposal of the Shi’a-dominated government more broadly) were fully capable of liberating even core Sunni cities without the United States. It was intended to demonstrate that Iraq needs Iranian help, while American help was of secondary importance at best.”

thanks. I did better on the final math test than the last two I did (got an 85 on the test). Next quarter is going to be harder but I think I will be able to make it. Just hope that I can work some things out with tuition.
DF, I read the article about the 35 bridge collapse in Salado, TX. That was 1 mi from my Son’s house, the overpass is the overpass we used to drive over coming from Killeen, TX. I called my DIL to make sure they were OK. They still have two houses in Salado that they rent out. She said the news was not good, backups going South & North for miles & miles. Texas owes not have alternative highways in that area. Sad, there was a loss of life. Sending prayers to the families for their loss. Thanks for posting that. Roberta
MIKE PENCE IS FILLED WITH UGLINESS AND HE HATES PBO WITH A PASSION…ALWAYS HAS AND WANTS TO RUN FOR PRESIDENT!…INDIANA IS FILLED WITH THE UGLINESS OF RACIST PEOPLE SO THE UGLY MATCHES!
Hey I went on Wikipedia looked up Ben Carson and their was a picture of a dick (literally) with the words below stating “Carson speaking to a gathering” I couldn’t stop laughing… Now it’s gone though. Too funny.
*Other states allow voters to register online, permit pre-Election Day voting, and provide for no-excuse absentee ballots. Pennsylvania allows none of those but that efforts are afoot that could change that as soon as this summer.*

I truly enjoyed this this conversation/discussion/interview.
I am struggling with the legalization of marijuana while there are thousands of people who were arrested for “supposedly” smoking marijuana in publics. By working in the criminal justice system for years I was able to witness first-hand knowledge of the injustices that would come through day after day.
One particular case that stands out in my mind is the police officers would often go to this particular spot where guys from Jamaica would hang out. Like clockwork once a month they would “raid” the place and this one particular time charged nine men in possession of one bag of marijuana that the police officers threw on the floor.
I know this sounds like so what. No big deal.
But the reality behind that is there were teachers and other City workers who were gainfully employed. They missed a day of work for spending the night in jail. And most importantly there records were tarnished and they were suspended until numerous court appearances to go to trial and get the charges dismissed. This could drag on for months.
It was so disheartened to watch theses grown men being harassed, demeaned, stripped of their dignity over “one bag” of pot.
The felony count meant no chance t vote.
I am glad to know that our President and AG had earlier discussions on this critical issue.
Now that it is legal will these records be exonerated? Will their voting rights be reinstated?
Can you just imagine when that happens those will be allowed to vote?
This seems like the only just thing to do.
Legalize all you want but go back and get the ones who were victmized and families that were traumatized by your “War on Drugs”.
what? making someone cry costs money, you know. I mean look at all those ‘sentimental’ ’emotional’ movies. Someone actually forked out real money to go see them. And cry.

OH MY GOD, phenomenal interview with David Simon!!!! THIS is an uncommon thinker and curious questioner. LOVE LOVE LOVE MY POTUS.
i really enjoyed that interview as well….
do you know how this came about?
No! I’m very curious to hear, too.
I’ve decided I have to start watching The Wire agains, start to finish. It’s an amazing experience – rough, honest, enthralling.
such a thoughtful interview…hard to know who was interviewing who…it was more of discussion than an interview

Bottom line >> “What’s more, if Tikrit is now liberated, Iraqis will all say that the Iranians failed, but the Americans succeeded.”

I’d so vote for Biden over Hillary. His policies are more agreement with my own and he’s not a hawk like she is.
Pretty sure most of us would:) Congratulations, by the way Jeff…on your grades in your classes. Great job!

Indiana is facing a HUGE backlash over the anti-gay bill that their governor signed. Looks like it’s going to impact their economy in a major way.
Good. As it should. The same way that ugly, hateful SB1070 did in AZ. It hurts.
Can this be appealed to the SCOTUS?
I hope so…I would think that this discrimination is unconstitutional.
