Thank you for the tweets and clips.

It is refreshing to have hosts/interviewers who give POTUS and FLOTUS the respect they deserve.

No GOTCHA questions and no trying to debate the answers given. I appreciated the VICE interview for that.

And it was so enjoyable watching FLOTUS and Ellen having a good time together.

What time will the Israeli election results be available – their time, our time? Looking forward to a good result. “Hope” for “change”. 🙂

Polls close in Israel 4:00 EST. We could have a result as to number of votes and where they went by midnight EST.

During the day i will be looking to see how the turnout is.
Just like here. Heavy turnout favors the left-leaning parties.
In Israel, like in USA, the RW fueled by hate, greed, fear, racism always show up. Liberals not so much.

When the turnout is very strong our chances increase. Heavy turnout will help Herzog.

Not to mention that the new joint Arab list is bound to stir enthusiasm amongst the over a million Arabs who are registered to vote.
We know that the Arab list will NEVER join with Bibi to form a coalition, but today their leader expressed an interrest in working with Herzog if he is forming a government. It is also possible that the Arab list will come in third giving them a lot of clout. Third place parties do not have to affiliate unless they see an advantage in doing so. Their seats could put Herzog over-the-top.

      • 11 amk for obama
        March 16, 2015 at 9:47 pm

Is there any reason why the arab party has never been part of any government so far? Are they banned from joining the govt?

        • 12 Vicki
          March 16, 2015 at 9:53 pm

No. Not banned. If I have it right the reason is they did not join was that from their point of view they had nothing to gain by joining.
That is why it was Big news today when the leader opened the door to Herzog.

            March 16, 2015 at 9:57 pm

Thx. I read that they may be the 3rd largest party with around 19-20. That is huge no. I don’t see any percentage in not joining the govt when you have the opportunity to push for the change from inside. If they decide to support herzog, nut n yahoo is definitely gone. And Livni, has given up an agreement to rotate the post of prime minister with Herzog should they win power, per bbc.

            Ayman Odeh

The real surprise of the election could be the rise of the predominantly Arab Joint List to third place in terms of Knesset representation.

List leader Ayman Odeh is also head of Hadash, a radical socialist party, and brought together three other Arab nationalist and Islamist parties in a marriage of convenience to boost Arab turnout and block Mr Netanyahu’s return to office.

Born in 1974, the lawyer from Haifa raised his profile dramatically with an impressive performance in a prime-time TV debate in February.

The Joint List would not take posts in a government, out of consideration for Palestinians living under Israeli occupation, but would be likely to support a Zionist-Union government.

NW – you never cease to amaze me!

Was just on the OFA call with thousands of other volunteers from 44 states to hear David Simas brilliantly lay out why ALL progressives should support President Obama fixing NAFTA by negotiating a TPP that put labor and environmental standards at the heart of the agreement. We should not cede the field of trade agreements to China which is aggressively pursuing trade agreements all over Asia that do not have such protections for our workers and the environment. Who better to negotiate for us than Barack Obama and his team?

          March 17, 2015 at 9:16 am

          Ahhh, thanks for responding.

Sounds like the son’s death was a plot point in the series.

I guess you’d have to go back to the JFK administration for the last time a President lost a child while in the WH.

Though he was out of office when his youngest son, Quentin, was killed in WWI, I’m sure that Teddy Roosevelt’s loss was mourned by the entire nation.

“BERKELEY, Calif. — San Francisco 49ers linebacker Chris Borland, one of the NFL’s top rookies last season, told “Outside the Lines” on Monday that he is retiring because of concerns about the long-term effects of repetitive head trauma. Borland, 24, said he notified the 49ers on Friday. He said he made his decision after consulting with family members, concussion researchers, friends and current and former teammates, and studying what is known about the relationship between football and neurodegenerative disease. “I just honestly want to do what’s best for my health,” Borland told “Outside the Lines.” “From what I’ve researched and what I’ve experienced, I don’t think it’s worth the risk.” Borland becomes the most prominent NFL player to leave the game in his prime because of concerns about brain injuries. More than 70 former players have been diagnosed with progressive neurological disease following their deaths, and numerous studies have shown a connection between the repetitive head trauma associated with football, brain damage and issues such as depression and memory loss. “I feel largely the same, as sharp as I’ve ever been, for me it’s wanting to be proactive,” said Borland. “I’m concerned that if you wait till you have symptoms, it’s too late. … There are a lot of unknowns. I can’t claim that X will happen. I just want to live a long healthy life, and I don’t want to have any neurological diseases or die younger than I would otherwise.”….

….His success last season did not make his decision more difficult, Borland said: “I’ve thought about what I could accomplish in football, but for me personally, when you read about Mike Webster and Dave Duerson and Ray Easterling, you read all these stories and to be the type of player I want to be in football, I think I’d have to take on some risks that as a person I don’t want to take on.” Borland was referring to former NFL greats who were diagnosed with a devastating brain disease, Chronic Traumatic Encephalopathy, or CTE, after their deaths. Duerson and Easterling committed suicide….Borland is the fourth NFL player age 30 or younger to announce his retirement in the past week…..continued”

One day a rather inebriated pasted ice fisherman ireesh man drilled a hole in the ice and peered into the hole and a loud voice said, “There are no fish down there.”

He walked several yards away and drilled another hole and peered into the hole and again the voice said, “There’s no fish down there.”

He then walked about 50 yards away and drilled another hole and again the voice said, “There’s no fish down there.”

He looked up into the sky and asked, “God, is that you?”

“No, you idiot,” the voice said, “it’s the rink manager.”

China is investigating the chairman of one of its biggest state-owned automakers, the Communist Party’s corruption body said.

Xu Jianyi, chairman of China FAW Group, was being investigated for “serious” discipline violations – wording that generally implies a corruption probe.

The announcement was made on the party’s discipline inspection website.

Mr Xu is the latest in a series of high-profile figures targeted in the government’s crackdown on corruption.

FAW Group, the parent company of Faw Car, has joint ventures with auto giants Volkswagen, Toyota and General Motors in China – the world’s biggest auto market.

News of the investigation against Mr Xu sent shares of Shenzhen-listed Faw Car down by as much as nearly 6% on Monday.

The 61-year-old chairman is also a member of the Communist Party, in a post equivalent to a cabinet vice minister.
