President Barack Obama speaks at Georgia Tech in Atlanta, about his plan to clamp down on the private companies that service federal student debt. More than 40 million Americans are in debt thanks to their education, and most of their loans come from Uncle Sam. So President Barack Obama is aiming to clamp down on the private companies that service federal student debt with a presidential memorandum he signed Tuesday

The audience looks up at a live video feed of President Barack Obama exiting Air Force One upon his arrival at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport, while waiting for him to take the stage to speak at Georgia Tech
Just curuious whether we’ve heard yet from Sarah Palin on the Iran letter or the HC e-mail scandal? Inquiring minds…
Don’t know, but Rick Perry just told Cottonhead that he’d be willing to co-sign the traitors’ letter.
Cottonhead? I thought the name of Perry’s ranch was Ni…….never mind.
I meant that Senator Cotton, but I get where you’re coming from … Perry just can’t help himself, because of his roots and his fond memories of “fun at the ranch.”
I understand that Bobby Jindal signed it.
Misery does love company. I know Bobby was encouraging all the “hopefuls” to sign it, too. I say go ahead and then let ’em suffer as a group, if/when the repercussions start coming in.
Perry is still under indictment…..he better keep his head down!
Oh yeah, I forgot that good news. Funny how they never seem to think a little indictment will ever hurt them.
Congrats on # 1 !
Congrats muscatinegal!! 🙂
Just a gorgeous post, NW!!! So many smiling, brilliant young folk!!! Thank you!!
You’re welcome, Bob.
Hey NW. Thanks.
Muscatinegal, COS
Wow, thanks much! Totally not sure how that happened – me being here at work and all. 🙂 It is kind of a fun feeling though – I can see why everyone likes being FURST. 🙂
Congrats muscatinegal on First! It’s always so nice to see a new face up there 🙂
You’re welcome, COS.
GA!
Thanks NW for these beautiful shots!
BEAUTIFUL INDEED AND THE LOOK OF HOPE IN THE FACES OF THOSE STUDENTS…SUNSHINE…INDOORS! MAKES MY HEART HAPPY TO SEE THIS PRESIDENT LOVED SO………………………
So much wisdom in her looks!
“appeared to use.” – NBC thinks its being slick. She did not appear to use racial slurs. She used racial slurs. She’s happily saying n-word, n-word, over and over again. There is no getting around that.
She put out some statement … something about I am not a racist I have black friends we were singing a song from Trinidad. Saw snippets on the teevee box.
Racistsplaining.
I’m already tired of Ms. HRC and she hasn’t even announced yet. 😦
Tell me about it.
Its Hillary, Mrs. Clinton if ya nasty!
No Drama Obama and Mrs. Drama Clinton.
I CAN’T STAND LOOKING AT HER..NO WONDER THERE WERE SHADOWS IN PLACE OF HER IN THEEEEEE BILL PORTRAIT!.I HAD TO GO THERE!
Thank yoooooooooooooooou Legend!!!
Thank yoooooooooooooooooooooooooooou too, you bundle of loveliness. 🙂
Donna, I responded to your comment the other day. Just wanted to let you I, too, grew up in upper N.W. DC. But I went to Roosevelt in the ’60’s. It was a good school then.
I saw it and responded that some of my cousins and Aunts went to Roosevelt in the 60’s as well.
My sister went to Coolidge in the early 60s. We lived right near Walter Reed Hospital, about three blocks off 16th St. I rode the bus from Georgia down 16th to work…..during the college summers I transferred to Main Navy on Constitution Ave, where the Viet Nam Memorial is now, then after college to the Senate Office Bldg.
My sister’s high school education was superb. She had Ph.D.s for some classes and had friends from around the world. It was very cosmopolitan.
We were practically neighbors 🙂 I moved around the corner from Coolidge High School in the mid 70’s
My cousins went to Roosevelt; my Aunts went to Dunbar.
One cousin graduated in 69 or 70; the other in 75 or 76.
*DEAD*
Someone owes me a new keyboard! Diet Coke all over the place! ROFLMAO!!!

No one can pack a house like beloved President Obama!
Great photos of Georgia Tech event.
Beautiful, wonderful, fantastic images and tweets, Nerdy. The excitement at Georgia Tech feels just like the presidential campaigns. Our President is so loved.
🙂
The petition has been growing quickly.
From 55,666 from 2 hours ago to 77,680
http://linkis.com/whitehouse.gov/iJSi8
Wow, it was about 6,500 this morning.
I signed it and I felt good, it reminded me of donating to PBO’s campaign when he first ran for the Presidency in 2008.
82,000 and growing by the minute. It’s going like gangbusters on Facebook. I see it in my timeline constantly being shared.
I just signed it @ 84,400.
Now at 82,338!!
84,803
88,878 just now signed
signed, it’s now 94,500
YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS…THIS MUST BE DONE!
I signed the petition. It’s now up to 86,588.
I signed it – the only way a person do anything about these treasonous scumbag senators.
THIS HAS TO BE THE ACTION BY WE THE PEOPLE THAT TURNS THE PAGE ON THESE DISRESPECTFUL,IGNORRRRRANT RACIST BASTARDS. I AM TIRED OF THEM HATING THIS PRESIDENT!
Nerdy you outdid yourself of this thread. Congrats. It was awesome to watch our POTUS and the students just loved him. Wooot!!! I am really hoping that those same students understand their responsibility now for our Government and their well being is decided in the voting booth not just petitions. I think POTUS made that clear.
🙂
Now the RWNJ idiot governors want in on this insanity. GAH.
As Yardarm noted above, Perry should be trying to figure out a way to stay out of the slamma.
Ain’t that the truth. With these three, we have the trifecta of idiocy.
Christie must be in London again, or I’m sure he might have signed.
BWWAHAHAAAA. For real.
I just signed it and it is up to 91,850. My Senator Daines is on the list. I am calling tomorrow. Haven’t able to yet. I had to calm down and be civil when I call.
Say what you will about Apple and their products, this is a very good thing.
PBO should come out and tell the Republicans that is the deal fails, and they want War so badly, reinstate the draft…
Another stupendous job, NW. Thank you so much for doing this.
🙂
Bob – I couldn’t help myself – I laughed. And the actions of the GOP are so ludicrous that everything they do would be laughable, if it weren’t so potentially catastrophic. Thank God President Obama’s in charge.
The more I look at Sen. Tom Cotton the more I’m convinced that this wasn‘t his play. I just don’t see a first year Senator from Arkansas being this much invested in a nuclear deal with Iran one way or the other. This stunt is in the wheelhouse of a McCain or a Graham, but not some dope from Arkansas. This guy has that dear in the headlights look. This is someone else’s play, Cotton just happened to be the guy that agreed to be the face of this thing.
Feel the same way…or it could be anyone of Cotton’s benefactors….Koch for instance…someone who would tell him just what to do…and who the rest of the Senators may be beholden to
You are 1001% correct in your analysis.
McCain and Graham are Not on TV/Cable huffing and puffing as they usually are.
They did the deed with the buffoon from AR, only in the Senate for 62 days.
Wow, I had to look that up – because *my* reaction was “Marathon, 490 BC”.
Most Adorable, Lovable First Lady Ever!

Still catching up – this was posted on a previous thread
http://www.mediaite.com/online/two-ou-students-expelled-for-racist-frat-chants/
—————————————————
In a statement to the school, Boren said he was “extremely proud” of the way that the school and its alumni community had acted in response to the video. “I hope the entire nation will join us in having zero tolerance of such racism when it rears its ugly head in other situations across our country,” he added.
—————————————————
Very good that he brought up “other situations across our country” – and leaves people to compare his actions vs. the actions (not) taken in those other situations.
I am going to bet that because regular citizens are taking the GOP to the woodshed and the GOP in Congress are looking really really ignorant and incapable of doing anything right, the next course of action is for the GOP to send out their msm minions to try to force POTUS into to weighing in on whether or not the 47 who sent the letter are traitors.
They are going to bet that POTUS because he is gracious will say no they are not traitors.
As a result the republicans will spin hard to say — see POTUS said we aren’t traitors so stop calling us that.
It is so predictable, if I could monetize that I would request just S1.00 for each person that tries to push that meme to try to justify the Republicans f*ckup.
I still think that the GOP should be held accountable for putting our country at risk and they should receive immediate and strong disciplinary action.
Good afternoon, TODville.
Probably still light where most of are.
“Doesn’t look like Clinton’s name is trending at all.”
because…. meh!
Republicans don’t want diplomacy to work because that’s a skill set they don’t have and would be inept at utilizing it should their party be voted into the office of President. They have been unable or unwilling to adapt to the 21st century.
signed the petition….was at 88,215….off to go tutor soon.. also emailed it to friends….can we stay abreast of total sigs?
It’ll be interesting to see where PBO’s approval goes the next few days. From what I’ve seen around the web, the condemnation of this is nearly universal which is quite amazing in this day and age. And it makes it nearly impossible for Dems to sign onto any R sponsored bill on this topic, they would be slaughtered. But hey, you’ve got the presidential hopeful idiots like Perry and Jindal who can’t wait to jump on the bandwagon. Go for it!
NW, thank you for this. In the midst of the other things, it is wonderful to see these photos. The contrast between PBO’s demeanor and Hillary’s is stark. Hard to see her generating this kind of excitement.
President Obama coming to PHX on Friday…to stop at the VA
In other news:

A jury awarded Marvin Gaye’s children nearly $7.4 million Tuesday after determining singers Robin Thicke and Pharrell Williams copied their father’s music to create “Blurred Lines,” the biggest hit song of 2013.
Gaye’s daughter Nona Gaye wept as the verdict was read and was hugged by her attorney.
“Right now, I feel free,” she said outside court. “Free from … Pharrell Williams and Robin Thicke’s chains and what they tried to keep on us and the lies that were told.”
Good. I like Pharrell and appreciate his talent (R. Thicke not so much), but they straight up stole from Marvin. Then had the nerve to sue Marvin’s family. GTFOH.
Ha! Well done!

I love it! And I hope he has a nice cold beer beside him… Darts is thirsty work!
HAW!!
Manuel’s is basically DEM hallowed ground in Atlanta. So glad The President got to visit. Woooot!
Congrats to the Triple Au ⭐ ⭐ ⭐ winners.
JEBbie has spoken…..but Father and Brother are both Maintaining their Muteness?
Which is interesting since Jeb doesn’t know what the deal is. And even if they thought the deal was a bad one, what they did is still wrong. They can have a public discussion here, they should not do what they did.
It’s official. GOP is now blaming Obama for Cotton ‘s infamous letter. Via a tweet from Huffington.
ok so he just eliminated himself. He is a nutjob.
Are there any sane Republicans in leadership these days? If yes, they need to be very vocal on this one. Country before party.
Fantastic Post, NW.
🍸
🙂
Awesome 😉
Hope & Change……Yes!

Now the republicans are saying that it’s all Obama’s fault that they signed that letter.

I wonder how many lawyers PBO and Holder have working on the 47Taliban and the Logan Act. As we know, neither one of them does anything quickly, does not shoot from the hip. When they act, all their ducks will be in a row, and they will know exactly what should be.
I think I’m going to write an email to the White House stating my deep concern, and request that the DOJ bring these people up in violation of the Logan Act. I’m certainly not going to demand, but politely state my deep concern and request.
However, PBO, to me, is the top constitutional lawyer……but his time is taken up, so others will have to work hard and long.
I think I’m going to write an email to the White House stating my deep concern, and request that the DOJ bring these people up in violation of the Logan Act. I’m certainly not going to demand, but politely state my deep concern and request.”
great idea carolyn. Think I will do the same.
http://www.whitehouse.gov/contact
That’s right. PBO and AGH always do it quiet and methodical and then BOOM!
wowwwwww….now what happens
Probably nothing. From what I can tell, the general consensus among legal minds is that although this is borderline against the Logan Act, it probably does not fall under that. And it does not meet the standard of treason. Besides, if it was one or two senators, that would be one thing, but if they tried to go after 47, the sympathy would be on the 47’s side.
Better that nothing be done, take care of and finish the negotiations, etc.
I’m going to take and wait and see attitude because it is not just the letter. It is everything that was done in the service of drafting, garnering support and most importantly transmitting the letter to Iran. Nixon committed treason re: Vietnam war but it didn’t go anywhere at the time.
These congresscritters don’t get it. The President is the only one elected by the country as a whole, not in a state or a district. Therefore, he is the one who can speak for the entire country in international affairs. Constitutionally, international diplomacy is the purview of the Executive branch, headed by the President. What about that is so difficult to comprehend? I know, I know, huge egos, and hatred of the man in the White House……They are SO wrong!
Missed the entire day’s events. Thanks Nerdy. It is all here for me to read.
🙂
wow, that’s a huuuuge crowd.
New post.

THESE PICTURES ARE SO AMAZING AND THE PRESIDENT HAS HAD A LITTLE B’BALL AND DART TIME FUN AS WELL. THE REPUGNANTS ARE BUSY LAUGHING AT OUR PRESIDENT THINKING THEY HAVE GOTTEN AWAY W/ SOMETHING…WELL…THERE’S A MOUSETRAP IN THE COOKIE JAR!
He deals with traitorous insubordination from Congress, listens to foul racism from one campus, and gets on the stage of another one fired up and ready to go;His smile lights up the room, he sees each precious face as a the shaper of our future, inspires their souls. There is no one like him. He stands alone.
