This kick-ass moment. The audience is tired of the disrespect. This doesn’t only concern the Politico reporter, but to everyday supporters who call him “Obama.” It’s like nails on a chalkboard. He is the first two term elected African-American President. He is not “Obama” to you. He’s President Barack Obama or President Obama. If you want to shorten, then it should be POTUS or PBO. He’s more than earned that title

seeing these photos of our president today, and the beautiful pictures posted of the selma anniversary in the last thread, and i’m in awe of pbo’s energy, positive spirit, and comfort in his skin and in his work. this blog has given us all an invaluable view of this presidency, for which i’m deeply grateful.

I keep hearing that these near treasonous acts that the GOP do does not entirely warrant being brought up on treason or Logan Act charges but maybe they need to be threatened with it so it can be something the MSM can put out there as their newest shiny object that they would have to explain and it will talked about on a 24hr cycle.

      March 9, 2015 at 7:20 pm

Not being familiar with the Constitution (as the GOPs also seem not to be), I don’t really know if their continued insulting actions are treasonous or not, but they do seem distinctly traitorous. Why shocks me about them every single time is that there seems to be no reasonable legal or meaningful consequences for their behaviour. GOPs collect salary without working – while *telling* you they won’t be working; they sabotage the working of government internally by shutting down agencies or refusing to pay bills; they bring in foreigners to spout exposing views in the house of government; they try to blackmail one branch of government, and for all of this they have the support and encouragement of the media. With the negative examples that GOPs have been building these past years, and the freedom which they’ve been given to enact their vitriol, how is this curbed going forward? Going forward, we can no longer say ‘this has never been done before’ AND we have nothing that looks like restraints to put an immediate stop to it happening again. I’m not kidding, every time I see the GOPs do something else reprehensible, seemingly without a proper deterrent, I lose a bit more respect for American ‘exceptionalism’.

        March 9, 2015 at 7:32 pm

Hi VC I am not familiar with the Constitution either and apparently neither does the GOP but that does not stop them from non-stop hearings, lawsuits, threats of shutting down the government because PBO has “over-reached” his authority and PBO has to say, “every President before me, you know the white ones, have done this and therefore within my authority to do…” All I am saying that maybe the DEMs need to start saying these are treasonous acts or violations of the Logan Act and these members should be brought up for treason so the talking heads will have to explain what they did and how it is not quite treasonous. I don’t know It’s just tiring that these people won’t do their job and is trying to prevent PBO from doing his job. We all know that the GOP wants to go to war and Iran was the next on the list if Rmoney had won. PBO is taking away their “Iran War Blankee” so if these bastards intend to steal another presidential election Iran won’t be one of the wars they would start. That leaves them with No. Korea, Libya, Syria, etc.,

          March 9, 2015 at 8:08 pm

Jojo, I am definitely with you! There is no way these actions of Republican leadership are patriotic, and to my way of thinking it’s disgusting that they can get away with such unprofessional behaviour without even a ‘note in their employee file’. I would love if *grassroots supporters like us* (as well as the Dems in office) spread the word that Republican leaders are not serving the BEST INTEREST OF THE NATION as a whole.

Indeed, if I were to speak the truth, I wish we would all stop framing their disgusting actions as ‘hatred of Pres O’ and instead regularly start to label it as *HATRED of we the people* because that is what it really boils down to in my opinion. Yes GOPs have made it clear that they hate PBO (there is not much more they can do to make that clearer), but beyond that there is a very observable hatred of the average American!!! And to me that is now the more important message that needs to be clarified ‘out there’.

••► Beating the war drum to encourage ‘boots on the ground’ shows a disregard for both the wishes of the majority of Americans as well as for the lives of average Americans.
••► Bringing in a foreigner to the governing house to sell his bias at the expense of the leader chosen twice by a majority shows disrespect for American voters.
••► Going behind the Executive Branch and writing a letter to a foreign leader that criticizes an ongoing negotiation shows total disregard for the ‘face’ of the country in the eyes of the world.

When we keep pointing out their hatred of Pres Obama like it’s something ‘new’ we miss another opportunity to point out the very vital FACT that they hate *us*! They hate America (as they see it evolving around them as living entities do). Do you think they will stop hating the average American……us ….. when President Obama leaves the White House? I don’t think so. My feeling is that we should talk about the big picture of their actions in whatever way we can. Let’s educate our family, friends, work colleagues, contacts etc. so they know what the Republicans do and how each act of theirs impacts on the lives of all Americans. Show them how Republican actions are not simply an issue between them and PBO, because, the bottom line really is that whatever stupidity they do will have a more lasting impact on you and I than it will on Pres. O.

MP, in keeping with PBO’s emphasis on ‘we’, I’m thinking this has become part of our ‘march’ to help those around us see – what Republicans are doing ostensibly to roll back PBO has more to do with us than him.

While *they* are delaying/stalling/diverting, we ought to be educating/informing/underlining to our contacts everywhere that GOPs are literally warring against *us*. Not everybody who hears expressions like ‘GOP hatred of Pres Obama’ make the connection that it’s actually GOP hatred of the majority of the country. I’m arguing it’s past time we *repeatedly* highlight the connection for them. If they can be nauseatingly consistent n their hatred, so can we be in pointing out *we* are the hated, and we only can make effective change.

IRAN: GOP LETTER ON NUCLEAR NEGOTIATIONS A “PROPAGANDA PLOY”

Iranian Foreign Minister Javad Zarif thinks some Senate Republicans need a lesson in civics and international law. … In response, Zarif brushed the letter aside, saying it “has no legal value and is mostly a propaganda ploy.” ,,,

He warned that a change of administrations would not relieve the U.S. of its obligations under an international agreement reached under the previous administration. Any attempt to change the terms of that agreement, he added, would be a “blatant violation of international law.” …

President Obama said Monday he finds it “ironic” to see some members of Congress “wanting to make common cause with the hardliners in Iran” who oppose a deal. … http://www.cbsnews.com/news/iran-gop-letter-on-nuclear-negotiations-a-propaganda-ploy/

On Monday, Zarif issued a statement through Iran’s U.N. mission in New York, saying “the letter has no legal value and is mostly a propaganda ploy.” Zarif also takes the opportunity to play the pedant:

I should bring one important point to the attention of the authors and that is, the world is not the United States, and the conduct of inter-state relations is governed by international law, and not by US domestic law. The authors may not fully understand that in international law, governments represent the entirety of their respective states, are responsible for the conduct of foreign affairs, are required to fulfil the obligations they undertake with other states and may not invoke their internal law as justification for failure to perform their international obligations.

“There will never be another BLACK S-A-E…. I wish there had been one less. My former fraternity broke my heart today. A video was posted allegedly showing members of the Sigma Alpha Epsilon Fraternity’s Oklahoma Kappa chapter chanting a disturbing song evoking images of deep hatred and cruelty that we too often choose to ignore happened in our country. To say it was racist is not enough. It hit me in the very core of my soul when I saw the video. I know those bus rides well. I was a member of this chapter 14 years ago. The second BLACK MAN to be initiated in those halls.”

” Of killing my 4 year legacy instead of ever letting him wear their letters. And then my son saw my face. My sweet innocent sympathetic son saw the pain and anger in my eyes and I had a decision to make: A decision White America will never understand. Do I teach my innocent 4 year old son about pure hatred today, or do I save that innocence one more day? Do I let him keep going a few more days, weeks, months before I have to start preparing him for this? My mother prepared me…I thought she was wrong. I thought we’d be further by now, but look at the news. Forget this one story, just look at the news. My mother prepared me. God Bless Her. And I will prepare my son, but not today. Today this BLACK MAN gave him a smile and finished eating dinner with him. This BLACK MAN gave him his bath and got him ready for bed in his perfect little world. I will not take that yet. But when I do, I will take S-A-E away as well. I had my time. I have my friends. But I can have no association with this organization as a BLACK MAN.”

      An outsider’s thoughts

It is what all RW oppositions do LL – They create havoc because of their “divine right to rule” – sadly people then vote them into power because they are sick of all the political mayhem (funding departments, raising debt limit, arguing foreign policy, hating on people having health care) – and then the reality of RW government reappears and the cycle happens all over again.

Pres Kennedy/Johnson were attacked because of civil rights, Pres Carter because of foreign issues, Pres Clinton – first term health care, 2nd term personal issues (he legislated as the GOP wanted so they had to find something else).

Because PBO is black, he is attacked for “all of the above”. The man has nerves of steel and carries on regardless. The world is in awe.

The democrats (& world wide LW governments) do NOT undermine the government authority when they are in opposition. Democrats use the ballot box, Republicans jemmy the ballot box.

Obama White House Rips Senate Republicans For Their Treasonous Letter To Iran
    http://www.politicususa.com/2015/03/09/obama-white-house-rips-senate-republicans-treasonous-letter-iran.html

    Josh Earnest —

“I would describe this letter as a continuation of a partisan strategy to undermine the president’s ability to conduct foreign policy and advance our national security interests around the globe.

    Snip

The fact is that we have heard Republicans for quite some time, including the principal author of this letter, make clear that their goal is to undermine these negotiations. Again, that is not a position that I am ascribing to Sen. Cotton, that is a position that he has strongly advocated. He described it as a feature of his strategy, not a bug.

    Snip
I think the other thing that is notable here is that when you have a letter that is signed by forty-seven senators of the same party being sent to a leader of a foreign country, it raises some legitimate questions about the intent of the letter…It’s surprising to me there are some Republican senators who are seeking to establish a backchannel with hardliners in Iran to undermine an agreement with Iran and the international community.”

Well, LDS, I am happy to see that you, I, and many others are focused on what matters here (and not about some silly e-mail scandal). The GOP commits ethical improprieties, insults POTUS every day. That should wake all of us and make us take steps to decrease their sheer number in Congress, a difficult task I confess because of the gerrymandering.

This new breed of republicans should give us all a lot of pause. And, seeing Scott Walker with his retrograde ideas (union busting, abortion, charter school, healthcare) leading the pack on the right, we should be determine to engage those carefree, careless democratic and left leaning voters to worry about the future.

Nice to see Tom Cotton prove himself to be a fucking idiot. This parade of politically tone deaf and stupid stunts the GOP is engaging in is making the GOP look more and more treasonous (we already knew it, but the larger public may be catching on). The infantile need to take some action, no matter how self-defeating, to show that they have “power”, that they defy PBO, is making the GOP look like a bunch of racist nuts. They seem to be going through a collective mental breakdown, and seem not to give a fuck about the country they claim to love. These MFers are CRAZY. Racism combined with the impotence they feel in regards to PBO is literally driving them crazy. Living in the FoxNews bubble and secure in being pampered by the corrupt media, gives the GOP the confidence to engage in their mental breakdown for all to see. Would love to see polling questioning GOP’s “love of country” or “does GOP put party before country”. Not holding my breath though……
