Early Bird Rise and Shine

Chips, at the end of the last thread, Donna reminded us of what’s ahead for you today at the funeral for your colleague and all our thoughts and love are with you. Keeping GB in my heart as well and hoping she gets good news. It’s going to be a difficult day for many personally and for our nation as a whole, but we’ll get through it together.

BODY-CAMERA MAKER HAS FINANCIAL TIES TO POLICE CHIEFS

IOWA CITY, Iowa (AP) — Taser International, the stun-gun maker emerging as a leading supplier of body cameras for police, has cultivated financial ties to police chiefs whose departments have bought the recording devices, raising a host of conflict-of-interest questions.

A review of records and interviews by The Associated Press show Taser is covering airfare and hotel stays for police chiefs who speak at promotional conferences. It is also hiring recently retired chiefs as consultants, sometimes just months after their cities signed contracts with Taser.

4 Things more Dangerous to Israel than Iran’s civilian Nuclear Enrichment

Israeli Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu’s strident and continual harping on the alleged dangers of Iran to Israel’s security. Netanyahu has raised this issue repeatedly over the past 20 years, often predicting that Iran was as little as a year away from having a nuclear warhead. Decades later, it does not, and Israel is still there. Many observers believe that Netanyahu is performing as a magician does, trying to make the audience take its eye over the real sleight of hand by pointing in the direction of a distraction.
There are, in fact, more pressing dangers to Israel than Iran’s nuclear reactors…

No, he will not be mentioning or acknowledging any of these far, far more dangerous things….because HE DOES THEM AND ENABLES THEM!!!

    • 29 jackiegrumbacher
      March 3, 2015 at 8:57 am

Df, this is an excellent article and illustrates, once again, how oblivious Netanyahu is as a leader. If, as Donna suggests, he wins election again this month, Israel will be facing a very shaky and uncertain future.

There are very bad intentions on the part of these judges who have chosen to wage war on common sense and the American people. I am so sick of their warped attempts to undermine democracy and promote the far right agenda. Good Morning again.

MSNBC needs to change their motto from Lean Forward to Bend Backward!

They will be eliminating podcasts on their website soon and will only be showing little snippets of show segments.

Last night on Maddow her ” The Interview ” segment was spent drooling over some guy who started what I think is called The Red Map Project.

The project was to flip all the State Governments to Republican.. No reporter or pundit or anyone else in media has any integrity.

    • 60 arapaho415
      March 3, 2015 at 10:36 am

      Really?

They really want to dig their own grave.

Contrast this mindset to Buzzfeed’s — @BrianStelter introduced @BuzzfeedBen by saying that Buzzfeed’s article #TheDress was simultaneously viewed by the same number of people watching @CNN (the show he was anchoring) at that moment.

The Internet is such a wonderful tool, but it makes people want to view on their own schedules, hence the diminishing ratings on TV — hard to carve out a block of time at a specific hour to watch a show, unless it’s a priority for you.

I did not see Rachel endorsing it as she said she was against it. She was touting it as a significant accomplishment, not to say beneficial. The guy orchestrated donations to state campaigns to turn state legislations to GOP in time for the census redistricting that would last ten years giving the GOP an extreme advantage for a decade. If you looked at it like chess it was a brilliant move. She said the Dems did not see it coming. My thoughts are the more we are aware of the other sides moves the more we can prevent them. I thought the interview was strategically revealing and I was glad she did it.

    GM TODville,

Today we’re sending positive energy and strength to @GoBrooklyn (see overnight thread) that she will tap into today as needed.

Today is also a somber and reflective day for our beloved Chips, who is attending the funeral of her colleague who shockingly died before he reached the age of 40, with a wife and young children surviving him (see one of the weekend threads).

When RWNJs and MSM/GOP/NRA/Comcast/Kochs make you want to tear your hair out, remember this kind of mindset:

This lack of empathy generates the kind of mindset that makes white people oblivious to #WhitePrivilege.

I was doing some research at the local public library this weekend, and one of the three people at the table next to me said something to the effect of: “I’m not prejudiced, but Blacks are not treated any differently by society than Whites.”

So like the Indian rapist, people who lack empathy instead #BlameTheVictim.

On a lighter note, we will end this month in the Spring season. Here’s what I went to research (the bin the plants are in is the size of a 6-pack of plants – this is how tiny these plants are — love succulents because they thrive on neglect but reward you with glossy and plump leaves that are as attractive as cut flowers):

Beautiful, Arapaho, and how fortunate that you can see any plants at all. Everything around us is covered with snow and all my perennials and bushes are buried under mounds of it. It will take a very long spell of warm weather and hard rain for all of it to melt away. Seeing them again will be like welcoming old friends who’ve been away a long time.

      • 66 arapaho415
        March 3, 2015 at 10:02 am

The great thing about succulents (novice gardener here, in the experimenting stage, but really enjoying it) is that they don’t take up much room — there are 20 plants in this photo, in a 6″x 9″ tin) and inexpensive.

I purchased 2 pots of 4″ succulent varieties for $5 each (19 plants) and the single 2″ pot for $2.50 (couldn’t resist, the leaves look like stained glass) at a local nursery.

If you’ve got south or west-facing winters, they can winter inside — and you NEVER have to water them during the winter. 🙂

The Sempervivums (aka “Hens and Chicks”) are native to the Alps, so they can tolerate below freezing conditions (though not the sub-zero temps you’ve “enjoyed”).

Linda: Cats are more problematic — unless you’ve got a sunny room that you can close the door from the cats. 😉

The P5+1 is a group of six world powers which in 2006 joined the diplomatic efforts with Iran with regard to its nuclear program.

The term refers to the P5 or five permanent members of the UN Security Council, namely United States, Russia, China, United Kingdom, and France, plus Germany. P5+1 is often referred to as the E3+3 (or E3/EU+3) by European countries.

I am wondering if Bibi is also speaking at the Legislatures of the other 5 countries prior to the election.
