Iran rejects as “excessive and illogical” a demand by US President Obama that it freeze sensitive nuclear activity for at least 10 years.

oh well, it was worth a shot.

It also allows room to maneuver for both sides. It is an excessive demand, PBO knows it, but both sides can coem up with something that meets concerns and both save face. It is critical that Iran have something it can say they got the werst to back down on just as it is important for PBO and the others to have something they can point to Iran giving up on.

    • March 3, 2015 at 10:21 am

I just hope that idea didn’t make them pissy enough to ditch everything. I never heard this mentioned before now…hope Iran just says no thanks and moves toward agreement.

They also know that the window of opportunity shuts down with Obama. Whoever wins in 2016 won’t have the guts or the reasonableness to continue this dialog with them.

nah they’re good. PBO knows the DISTRACTION would try to use the deal in some way so they’re pretending for right now it’s a no go.

The P5+1 is a group of six world powers which in 2006 joined the diplomatic efforts with Iran with regard to its nuclear program.

The term refers to the P5 or five permanent members of the UN Security Council, namely United States, Russia, China, United Kingdom, and France, plus Germany. P5+1 is often referred to as the E3+3 (or E3/EU+3) by European countries.

I am wondering if Bibi is also speaking at the Legislatures of the other 5 countries prior to the election.

    If not, why not ?

Israeli TV Banned From Broadcasting Netanyahu Speech Live

Israeli television stations have been banned from broadcasting Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s speech to Congress live in order to keep the address from influencing the upcoming election.

Stations will be able to broadcast the speech with a five-minute delay after they remove any content that could be perceived as campaigning, according to The Telegraph.

“Editors-in-chief of broadcast channels will watch and make sure that nothing the prime minister says can be construed as election campaigning,” Salim Joubran, the head of Israel’s central election committee, said in an order two weeks ago. “Any campaigning will be omitted from the broadcast.”

          March 3, 2015 at 1:55 pm

I’m afraid it does Nospin. Dem Reps attending this stunt even after it was reported that Boehner went over the head of the WH & violated the Logan Act by inviting a foreign leader to discuss policy against the wishes of President Obama, is very damaging indeed.

What’s going to stop Boehner from doing this again? What’s going to stop another foreign leader from thinking “if Bibi could do this with help from this Congress, so can I”.

The Dems in Congress now give firepower to those racist wingnuts on the right whom seek to challenge Obama’s legitimacy as President.

So again, Fuck the Democratic Party.

          • 99 nospin
            March 3, 2015 at 6:03 pm

I am not concerned with Boehner because today, just like every other day, he highlighted the reasons why the GOP are unable to govern and have no business in any leadership position. Boehner proved that Republicans have no issue putting politics above country every single time.

Regarding what’s going to stop another foreign leader doing the same thing? First off, only the President can shape foreign policy so going to Congress is a waste of time and a bad move politically. In addition, if foreign leaders didn’t already know, they will know today, don’t EVER cross President Barack Hussein Obama. You can’t win. Ask Putie Poot

oh and one Democrat is more effective than all the current crop of GOP in Congress combined.

    • March 3, 2015 at 8:02 pm

    http://www.reuters.com/article/2015/03/03/us-russia-usa-snowden-idUSKBN0LZ1U020150303

    ——–

A Russian lawyer for Edward Snowden said on Tuesday the fugitive former U.S. spy agency contractor who leaked details of the government’s mass surveillance programs was working with American and German lawyers to return home.

“I won’t keep it secret that he… wants to return back home. And we are doing everything possible now to solve this issue…”

The United States wants Snowden to stand trial for leaking extensive secrets of electronic surveillance programs by the National Security Agency (NSA). Russia has repeatedly refused to extradite him.

Snowden has said in the past he would like to return home if he was assured he would be given a fair trial.
