Our overseas allies must cringe when bozo Republican wannabes go abroad. They always make embarrassing asses of themselves and irritate the local population. Other countries must wonder what rock pile we find these people under.

Morning, Chips. We’re having a baby blizzard, too, so March is telling us it’s going to deliver a lot more winter. On the other hand, it’s less than 20 days until Spring and nothing is going to dim my happiness when it finally arrives.

    • March 1, 2015 at 8:57 am

Morning Jackie – is it just me, or does this winter seem to have lasted, oh, 99 months?

I think that’s a pretty good estimate of the months since it’s been warm. Shivering has now become a natural state and I will just stand outside in awe and wonder should we ever have a really warm day with actual sunshine.

Good Morning TOD! I hope everyone had a restful sleep last night. I love the peace and serenity that Sunday mornings bring, full of hope of what can be, and a fuller understand of what has been.

Don, I never thought of Sunday that way. Rather than peace and serenity, I’m always thinking of what I should do during the week and what I failed to do in the week before. Your attitude is much more mature and healthful.

This quote from Abraham Lincoln is a good reminder of the lesson we’re learning every day. With the great power of the US presidency, Barack Obama has shown himself to be a main of great character with both a brilliant mind and a deep sense of compassion for his fellow human beings. The rise to power of Boehner and McConnel has revealed a deep ugliness of mind and heart and a sniveling cowardice, not to mention a lack of respect for democracy or concern for the well being of their country. Our president works every day for the public good. He is a true public servant in the highest sense of that term. Boehner and McConnell have put themselves up for sale to the highest bidders.

    Good morning TOD.

If you are tired of my Bibi speech updates please skip to next contributor now.

Still reading? Good, because here is how Sheldon Adelson and his RWGOP and owned media have escalated their assault on President Obama and democracy in our country.

Today’s full page NY Times ad on page 9 features Ahmadinejad and 2 Ayatollahs asking for death to America and the annihilation of Israel.
1/2 page of scaremongering words follow and at the bottom a highlighted box encouraging all to watch Bibi’s speech on C-SPAN March 3 at 11amEST.
    . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .

In separate news, Bill Kristol has started a campaign asking delegates to walk out when Susan Rice takes the stage at AIPAC.

Yes. You are reading this correctly.

The GOP position is that all legislators should politely attend while the Blood-soaked Bully insults Our President and destroys international diplomatic norms.
But they should boycott the National Security Advisor when she arrives

The plan seems to make fabricated ugly lies about Susan Rice the story we hear about. Not the coup they are orchestrating against the legitimate government of the United States.

It is getting scary for me. How do other members of TOD feel?

Actually while deeply offensive, it is also funny. Their illiterate base is not reading any newspapers, much less NYT so I’m not sure who this is directed to. All they will accomplish in the end is to harden the distrust of Bibbi.

      • March 1, 2015 at 10:30 am

        Good Point….

        who is this directed to…

all this angst is to sew mistrust in the President…but i think after 6 years of the President…we know him…voted for him twice….the noise is almost unintelligible…to have a major newspaper encourage the American People to go against their own government in favor of a foreign country is almost unheard of……..

what they have done is put Israel in a different light….to have a leader of a so-called ally be as nasty to the President as he is…and still maintain their favored status….is interesting…i think that because it has been status quo for members of Congress and certain citizens to use their own nastiness against The President has encouraged Netanyahu to do the same…and Netanyahu thinks that the Jewish folk in America will not abandon Israee no matter what he does….

I am hopeful that Israel loses it most favored status….

I couldn’t think how to reply yesterday Vicki – today it just gets worse. One can only hope that this will send more democrats into the side that does not attend the speech. I do agree with FoxfireTX – as the NYT loses its readers and its influence declines they are being very like MSNBC – removing all content that is sane & turning themselves into FoxLite

Good morning everyone! Sounds like more snow for a lot of you, while North TX recovers from its “snow”. It’s always very funny to see the reaction to any amount of snow here, but also dangerous as folks in these big trucks think they are immune from the effects of ice. I learned my first winter here to just stay out of everyone’s way:-) Great photo of our President! While it is going to be an ugly week, it is another week when we are fortunate to have PBO as our President.

  22. March 1, 2015 at 10:08 am

    Good morning TOD folks!

  23. 81 carolyn
    March 1, 2015 at 10:09 am

Good morning everyone. For us, March is coming in like the proverbial lion. We’ve had snow too…..a little more than Texas, and with ice. Most all churches are canceled today……safer for all that way. Supposed to get above freezing this afternoon, so we’ll have a big melt, which is good. We’re fortunate that the results of our storms don’t last for weeks, just a couple of days. We stay off the roads for the same reason Foxfire does: big pickups whose drivers are reckless!

Does anyone else have the idea that PBO is planning something for this week’s Bibi visit? He plays his cards close, and is always miles ahead of others, and I’m just waiting for his action. I have no idea what, but it will be the right one. I do know Bibi is not going to perform this atrocity with impunity. Something will be done. As Bob says: “Trust Barack.”

    • 82 Vicki
      March 1, 2015 at 10:32 am

carolyn, I thought there might be an Iran deal breakthrough, but that seems increasingly unlikely.
I also hoped Bibi would stay home but he is in the air right now.

PBO may very well have something planned to neutralize the harm . Israel has a 300 million dollar “aid” package they are asking the US for. let’s see how that goes.

    • 84 FoxfireTX
      March 1, 2015 at 10:48 am

I have no doubt PBO has something planned, and the uglier it gets the bigger the reaction will be although I don’t know if we will see it this week. But as we know, PBO is a long term strategic thinker and he is not going to take this lying down. Bibbi will pay a price far beyond anything he and idiot Boehner could ever have contemplated. I am truly shocked at how out of control this thing has become with the NYT ads. Unfortunately, in the end our Jewish friends will pay for Bibbi’s recklessness. If nothing else, Israel is not winning itself any new friends, and losing many of its old ones. On top of the atrocities last summer, this is a very bad time for them.

Agree with Don, I like Sunday mornings. I get to relax and bit, think lovely thoughts, sip a warm beverage, then… feel guilty about what I didn’t get done last week and agonize about all the things I need to do in the upcoming week (hat tip to JackieG).

Chips, condolences on the shocking loss of your colleague at such a young age. How utterly devastating for his wife and family — hope they will have ongoing support during this unexpected upheaval and stunning loss to the fabric of their lives. Heartbreaking.

On a sunnier note, love the photo of Danny frolicking this morning.
