Thanks, Bob.
Great tweet, meta. Adelson is encouraged and supported by other well-known enemies of decency and PBO, such as Michael Bloomberg.
Elie Weisel is a big Adelson fan also and although I respect his horrific wartime experiences and the sensational books he wrote, Mr. Weisel, in recent years has appeared to have lost his marbles. First with his dear friend Bernie Madoff, a bad judge of character which cost him plenty and now with the awful Sheldon Adelson.
Wonder if it relates to “Money buys friends”?
Agree with these tweets, liberal librarian.
Estonia’s governing Reform Party has claimed victory in an election overshadowed by security concerns sparked by Russia’s role in Ukraine.
Prime Minister Taavi Roivas, whose party has 30 seats, is set to form a coalition in the 101-member parliament.
The results are a blow to the Centre Party, which has ties to Russian President Vladimir Putin, who were expected to do well in the poll.
Estonia was once part of the former Soviet Union but is now a Nato member.
…
n the run up to the election, Mr Roivas had called for an “Estonian-minded government”. At 35, he is the youngest prime minister in Europe.
The country’s political debate has been dominated by economic issues and fears over defence due to Russia’s actions in Ukraine.

So scary to think that someone that learned all his life lessons from growing up in a bar then failing to lead the House could be our default President.
Good Evening TODVille!
ISIS is starting Amargedon!
I don’t know what this means—maybe not much—-but apparently now Bibi’s ask is for a delay in Iran deal. Previously he was for stopping deal entirely.
In any case, see you all in a day or two.
This Bibi speech nonsense seems more and more as an election stunt for Israeli audience. The request for $300 million is to show his home audience that he can still bring home the bacon. It is certainly not designed to endear himself to the American people. Boner, the orchestrator of this bullshit is already in a clown suit, and Bibi will join him. His hubris will force him to make a fool of himself, he will oversell his argument. I am interested to hear how Kerry will “defend” Israel in his UN speech. PBO and his team are smart and calculating. I have never doubted my President and I won’t start now. I do see this as a net positive because I think it will have the long term effect of loosening the relationship with Israel, which has been decidedly one sided for far too long. PBO has long want to pivot away from the middle east and to Asia, this “loosening” will accelerate that move.
whoever comes after nut n yahoo will have lotsa of cleaning up to do. as always the same with rightwingers.
Eric, this is a great insight into what’s going on. The timing of the “speech” was always about Bibi’s own election since everything in the world revolves around himself. And yes, I believe our president has many plans for Asian pivot and will use this blunder by Boehner and Bibi to support his vision.

Uruguay bids farewell to Jose Mujica, its pauper president.
There are idealistic, hard-working and honest politicians the world over – although cynics might argue they’re a small minority – but none of them surely comes anywhere close to the outgoing Uruguayan president when it comes to living by one’s principles.
It’s not just for show. Mujica’s beat-up old VW Beetle is probably one of the most famous cars in the world and his decision to forgo the luxury of the Presidential Palace is not unique – his successor, Tabare Vasquez, will also probably elect to live at home.
But when you visit “Pepe” at his tiny, one-storey home on the outskirts of Montevideo you realise that the man is as good as his word.
…
Uruguay is often referred to as the most liberal country in South America. As economic and political turmoil threaten to engulf the neighbouring giants of Brazil and Argentina, this country of just three million people certainly feels like a refuge.
Mujica leaves office with a relatively healthy economy and with social stability those bigger neighbours could only dream of.
Mujica’s underlying principles are still socialist but he’s a man who has mellowed with age. Some of the most controversial political initiatives from his five years as president – like the legalisation of abortion and cannabis – were done for pragmatic as much as ideological reasons.

Thanks Bob for sharing Ben Yishai’s letter to Netanyahu. It was excellent. Our so called mainstream media have done a poor job of informing the U.S. public about Israelis, like Mr. Yishai, who oppose Netanyahu’s ill-conceived speech, which is aimed at undermining and disrespecting the foreign policy of a sitting President of the United States. Right now I am so mad with the Democrats in Congress who are going to legitimize the disrespect of the President by a foreign leader who is being aided and abetted by right wing political opponents of President Obama.
This creature is truly, truly, truly deranged:
He can go fuck himself.
“I am the emissary of all Israelis, even those who disagree with me”
I mean, what the fuck? How can you be an emissary for people who think you’re a warmongering wanker?
Exactly. If he had gone through the proper protocols, then he might have had a smidgen of a leg to stand on and pretend he’s “the emissary of all Israelis.” Not going through the proper channels in an effort to disrespect President Obama – which backfired on him both here and in Israel – just shows him for the war mongering douchebag he is.
Chipsticks, I agree with both you and Nerdy, 100%!
Once here, and once on his return trip.
And I’ll keep myself busy thinking of other worthwhile people while he’s on our soil … so somebody let me know when he leaves.
spoken like a true megalomaniac that he is.
I really thought he had no more plot to lose, but he’s outdoing himself.
The Iranians, and the entire world, need to be very grateful for the Israeli military and security guys who’ve kept this nut in check. Israelis best realize that and elect a new PM.
He truly is a danger Bob, he’s terrifying.
