Chips, I also want to add my condolences. Yesterday was such a hard day all the way around. Your lose added on to all that was going on in DC and I lost an aunt yesterday, but she was 89 and had lived a long and memorable life. I also found out my cousin’s cancer had spread to her liver. My heart is aching today for all those going thru such hard times. So thankful for this community. And so thankful that Obama is still our President.

Their excessive use of the filibuster has created this mess.

AND they can’t even figure out their own whip.

      • February 28, 2015 at 11:20 am

        add to that…

that you have a bunch of government-hating legislator…who get pleasure from shutting don the government or causing dysfunction.
Smartypants mentioned today…when you have demonized the opposition and fostered hatred of a President you cannot then talk about compromise…and in a government system that is set up for compromise.no compromise will occur.

but this takes me back to something Donna Dem says….how do we get voters out to vote…the DEM Party seems poised to shoote itself in the foot….

Good Day TOD. I missed all the Boehner drama yesterday. It seems that this head cold that I have managed to avert all winter has caught up with me. My sinuses feel like bricks. I just want to breath through my nose again sometime soon. 😦

Hi Chips. I read the heartbreaking story on the loss of your friend. It is not for us to question why someone so good, loving and kind is taken so soon when there are so many miserable people left here, but it sounds as though he truly lived a life we all aspire to live and those who knew him and loved him are blessed to have known him. My sincere condolences to you and his famil

Chips, I am so sorry to hear of the loss of your friend. Death leaves a heartache no one can heal, love leaves a memory no one can steal.

The reason Gov. Dayton was able to radically transform Minnesota’s economy into one of the best in the nation is simple arithmetic. Raising taxes on those who can afford to pay more will turn a deficit into a surplus. Raising the minimum wage will increase the median income. And in a state where education is a budget priority and economic growth is one of the highest in the nation, it only makes sense that more businesses would stay.

    • February 28, 2015 at 1:04 pm

The same for California and all the other states that DEM governors whose economies were missed up by the Bushes tax cuts to the wealthy. When CA was run by a GOP governor he refused to raise taxes and kept borrowing and cut taxes for his rich friends. When Jerry Brown took over he convinced the people to vote for higher taxes on the wealthy. We are doing much better and jobs are opening up. If MN and all those states whose economies have turned around don’t elect GOP governors they can do better too. I feel for Illinois because they just could not overcome their history of voting for DEM or GOP governor and nothing improves due to both do what’s best for the rich folks. Illinois needs many heroes in the legislature and governor to do what’s best for everyone and not just the rich. I wonder if that’s why Oprah left Chicago for California? besides the weather. 🙂

To bring a federal case, federal prosecutors must prove that a person used excessive force, willfully —meaning on purpose — with the knowledge that it was wrong. William Yeomans, a former prosecutor in the Justice Department’s Civil Rights Division, said proving intent is the biggest challenge in bringing a successful prosecution in such cases.

I never willingly go to Kos. But in my TL just now was a link from there on the Sheriff that was against the ACA and recently found himself and his wife in need of dire medical care. The link is a piece on how the sheriff Gofundme page is doing and about several who donated, but also left comments telling this guy about himself. It is something.

No question Putin had him murdered. In fact, I’d not be surprised if Putin was one of the gunmen …. seriously.
