I don’t like to see him crying.

It was beautiful and worthy of this brilliant man who left and indelible mark!

Beautiful ceremony, touching words from all involved….powerful singing from the Queen…wonderful send-off for our great AG Holder. 🙂

LL – congrats on getting here first. To me, the President’s leaky eyes show his humanity and deep affection for his beleagured Attorney General. Both of them have taken such undeserved crap.

Yes, Judith. PBO feels on a very deep level, and his love and respect for AG Holder goes deep. These two men have put up with so much crap to serve our country. They are two of the finest ever. They are better than we deserve. I hope AG Holder has a wonderful, rewarding retirement. I really treasure the friendship of these two men……it is beautiful to see.

I will never forgive Republicans for the rancid disrespect they have shown POTUS when they expected us all to genuflect before GWB. But a close second is that I will never forgive them for the rabidness with which they treated AG Holder.

gm todders – I’m reading posts that are hours old & chatting away back there – what a news day today. Amazing to see the dems supporting PBO – shame about the few who still think they are part of the GOP.

I do find it hard to believe that anyone can be forced to work for no pay. I had a boss that hovered close to the wall financially & he knew that the day I wasn’t paid was the day I walked out. No discussion. Every person who works for homeland security cares more about their country than a large % of the US congress. I;m waiting for “the noun, verb & 9/11” to condemn Boehner for not loving his country.

So very very impressed that despite everything the GOP and the media throw at him, PBO just keeps on doing his job. The world sees it.

President Obama, interacting with his family and his administration always manage to invoke the deepest emotions in me – ALWAYS!!! He, and Michelle, always manage to make me smile just by their very presence, laugh just by being their humorous selves, and cry whey they are touched or troubled. [Others attacking them can incite my anger, but that’s not relevant today.]

We will NEVER, at least not in my lifetime, have another leader who is so in tune with himself, so sincere in his response, and so ….. so loving! I honour, love and respect him so very, very much for showing me repeatedly what it means to be a “real MAN”!

I have no idea how sane Americans can combat the lies and hate that come from the US media. I foolishly ran into some tweets saying PBO can solve the issue of DHS funding. Guess they think being blackmailed is quite acceptable if the GOP is doing the blackmail.

I agree with his sentiment on pay but this is not about “leaders getting together” – this is about the GOP failing every way possible. I HATE that the media is not calling the GOP on their sh!t

From this I assume the republican leaders will not discuss with the President – so much for the media talking bipartisan – people voted for this congress? They were lied to by the media and the GOP.

So am I in the minority waiting for the day that the Department of Homeland Security is abolished? We all know that this was the creation of Bush and Cheney to cover for their heinous crime of disregarding warnings from the FBI and the CIA. So they created this after frightening the their sheep as a way of saying “if only this agency had existed prior to 9/11 then 9/11 wouldn’t have happened”.

Of course I despise the GOP in every way possible but if this stupid Boehner debacle is a way to get rid of DHS then I say GOOD RIDDANCE. We don’t need it with the largest military in the world, the CIA, NSA, the FBI, National Guard and the Coast Guard. I hate how it came about and I would leap for joy if it was gone.

    • February 28, 2015 at 9:26 am

i know i am coming late to this…the Dept is a Federal Agency….the National Guard is under state control…one of the critiques of the 9/11 commission is that these agencies (FBI, NSA, CIA) were not seamless or coordinated…has that changed..

“Boris Nemtsov was gunned down in the centre of Moscow tonight, two days before an opposition rally in Moscow that he was co-organizing and 2 weeks after he told a Russian newspaper that, like his mother, he was afraid that Vladimir Putin would have him killed. His was one of the few public voices of sanity in Russia, unafraid to speak out and even make a film about the war Putin has launched against Ukraine.

Reports say he was shot four times in the back after a number of men got out of a car. Despite this being very close to the Kremlin, the killer or killers got away. As with all the other murders of opposition leaders, independent journalists and activists, there will doubtless be international calls for a ‘full investigation’, etc. and somebody may even be arrested and imprisoned.

This is what Boris Nemtsov, now silenced, had to say in an interview on Feb 10 to Sobesednik.ru.

“I have never concealed my political views. I believe that it was he [Putin] who started the war in Ukraine. My attitude to him could not be worse. Especially after Nord-Ost and Beslan”.”
