Nice, AMK. It’s always good to see Congressional Republicans being called out for exactly what they are–terrorists.

    • February 26, 2015 at 7:45 am

If it weren’t so serious, it would be laughable how Boehner is always waiting on someone else to “do their job”. Most of the manufactured *crises* that this country has experienced in recent years lie squarely at his feet because of his unwillingness or inability to do HIS job.

Hi, SW. Boehner is good at one thing–projecting blame on someone else for his failings. He must have been the kid on the playground who accused another kid whenever he himself did something wrong.

After watching the town hall last night, I’m just sorry that it didn’t have a bigger viewership…MSNBC at 8:00 PM does not exactly have a peak audience.

I also felt that even after PBO’s explanation regarding the extent of his authority when issuing EO’s, there were many who still felt that he should have gone beyond that authority, thus putting at risk those who *do* benefit from the actions. As the President indicated, you can’t solve everything at once.

I can’t understand why people can’t be appreciative of the progress that has been made and work to extend those achievements. Putting some of the blame back on the whiners for not voting was one of the highlights of the evening, as well as disabusing the “both sides are at fault” especially where it relates to immigration reform.

    • 19 jackiegrumbacher
      February 26, 2015 at 7:50 am

SW, that town hall was aimed at a target audience and the WH knew very well how limited the viewership would be. He was looking for information to be disseminated in the Latino population, which I’m certain it will be. There are people in this country, many of whom I personally know, who refuse to believe that our President does anything right. He either doesn’t do enough or goes too far. He isn’t trying to reach the universe of the closed minds. He’s trying to reach those who are still persuadable.

      • February 26, 2015 at 8:04 am

Yes, that’s true about the target audience.

But whether people are of the opinion that he doesn’t do enough or goes to far, I wish those opinions were based on facts — facts about the true extent of the President’s authority; facts about the limitations of EO’s versus legislation; facts about what is *really* going on rather than the propaganda disseminated by the media and the GOP (and, unfortunately, some democrats/liberals/progressives); facts regarding what is a disagreement about policy versus personal attacks.

I believe that he was able to reach some, but there are still too many that are closed-minded and stuck on the “facts” as they have been led to believe and perceive.

          February 26, 2015 at 8:11 am

Facts do not matter to the closed minded, SW. I’ve have tried to present facts to members of my family until I’m blue in the face, but they will not accept them–no matter how clear and irrefutable. They like living in their own fantasy and they’re not changing.

    • February 26, 2015 at 8:05 am

Thier failure to accept or understand the workings of the three (3) branches of the United States Government, demonstrates a high level of dangerous ignorance.

It’s almost as if they believe that President Obama is a king with infinite powers. He’s done the best that he can do. Now it’s up to us putting pressure on the do nothing Republicans.

I watched the young woman who asked the President about her mom who was not included in DACA. As PBO spoke she stood shaking her head not believing him. I don’t think they believed him. I wonder if this was received well.

Morning. Would be nice if the US Congress stopped playing games for one day and got something positive done. If I were a DHS employee, I would be furious by now. Congressional Goopers seem to think that federal employees are not human, have no families and can live on air. It’s only members of Congress who get rich in government jobs, not actual workers.

I don’t believe that Reupblicans care about federal employees. But shutting down the Department of Homeland Security threatens our safety. It’s such a reckless thing to do. Shows how dangerous this country has become under Republican Congressional domination.

🙂 Very good! Sadie is coming along..she’s so adorable. Everything is a new wonder in her eyes. She ‘s getting used to the rhythm of our home and she just loves being with her people. She wants to chew everything so keeping her in interesting chew toys is proving to be very expensive! Better a toy than my furniture though:) All in all, she’s a beautiful girl…still working on dog/cat meet ups:) She doesn’t really like going in her crate, though she is great once she gets in there!

Good Morning Chips and TOD. It’s hard to believe that it was FOUR years ago that we first met Henry. I so wish that he could have been able to attend our TOD meetup in 2013. That would have been such a treat.

p.s. Good Luck Chips on the Marriage proposal but I must say that in this year alone that would make #3. The old saying is #3 is a charm. Let’s hope you get lucky with this one. 🙂

Obamacare defense is tailored for key Supreme Court justices

But supporters of the healthcare law say they are more hopeful now of prevailing entirely in the high court, in part because of the “clear notice” argument. Washington lawyer Walter Dellinger, a solicitor general under President Clinton, said this federalism or states’ rights argument is likely to get the attention of several justices.

“If you are Congress, you don’t impose a penalty on the states and then hide it in an obscure provision involving the tax code that no one noticed at the time,” he said. This strongly suggests, he said, that Congress did not intend to punish states that decided to rely on a federal marketplace.

Other provisions of the law carry the same message, supporters say. A section titled “State flexibility” says that states shall establish an exchange so residents can compare prices for insurance and buy policies, and that if states elect not to do so, “the secretary [of Health and Human Services] shall establish and operate such exchange” within the state.

    GM TODville,

JackieG’s right about the closed minded, which account for nearly a quarter of Americans. A tax-free pile of gold as high as their rooftops could land in their backyards, yet they would somehow still #BlameObama for something (it buried my fruit tree!!!).

MSM deliberately hides a mere hint of successes during the Obama Adm.

So here’s some food for thought (sorry DF, AZ is on the top [aka bottom] of this list):

    1) Corporate taxes vs. educated Americans

    • 89 arapaho415
      February 26, 2015 at 8:49 am

      2) Our bloodthirsty MSM who fan the fan flames for a “clash of civilizations” between Christianity and Islam, in much the same deluded way that Charles Manson sought a race war in America.

About half of the WHPC are insistent that PBO seek a solution to “Islamic terrorism,” yet divert attention/hide from audience that any opposition to NRA even exists between our shores.

      • 90 jackiegrumbacher
        February 26, 2015 at 9:11 am

Arapaho, this is such a worrying and despicable media trend–ginning up fear of terrorism and hatred of Islam. I have seen too many people who buy this meme and are scared to death of being murdered in their beds by Muslim terrorists. There’s a lot of big money behind these scare tactics and the media are acting like mouthpieces for these money men.

    • 91 arapaho415
      February 26, 2015 at 8:52 am

      3) MSM to Americans: YOU ARE NOT ALONE 😉 in thinking Obama is the WORST President evah!!!

      • February 26, 2015 at 9:06 am

Just as 9/11 gave Rudy Giuliani his celebrity because he happened to be mayor during this time, the same can be said about W’s high approval in 2001…at a time when patriotism eclipsed politics and the country was united. Similar situation for HW in 1991 during Desert Shield.

Of course AZ is at the top of this list! Brewer slashed education by BILLIONS, and then Ducey, the new gov and treasurer under Brewer, now refuses to pay back the monies they took away from education that the AZ Supreme Ct told him he must do! Just trying to keep their head’s above water…I’m with japa. Fight fire with fire and dare them to shut down the athletic depts of these universities….see what happens then. These RWNJ’s are disgusting.

Did I mention mega tax breaks for corps? That goes without saying around here…he doesn’t want an income tax AT ALL!! “Free stuff” for everyone…until it breaks..and then we ask the Feds??? WTF!

      4) MSM: Lower taxes for the wealthy is GRRRReat for our economy (but meh for the middle-class).

Here’s reality vs. how what the MSM expects you to believe because of what and how they choose to present the “news”):

  20. February 26, 2015 at 8:51 am

And he’s 100% correct about this. The media was using just about every and anything they could to help the GOP for the midterm elections. And they found a convenient tool – a way to race bait and play to ignorant American racial fears without appearing to overtly do so.
