    Greetings, Mustafa,

If you will allow me to appeal to you, Ilya Novikov showed me your appeal to me on the Internet. I have also often asked my lawyers how things are with your son, whose defense they are also involved in.

It is a great honor for me that you have appealed to me. I know your history and the history of your people who in all times, imperial Russia oppressed no less than my people.

And it would seem: free Tatars and free Ukrainians had only just began to breathe freely on their land, when once again our freedom and our choice of a path in life has been suppressed by the selfish ego of the “Kremlin”!

But the bone is too tough for the teeth! It will choke!

And not just on me alone, but all my people!

Respected Mustafa, in your day, you accomplished a victory for your people, staging a hunger strike in prison for 303 days! If it had not been for your act, it is possible your people would never have returned to their land.. I have a worthy example — it is you! I have not been on a hunger strike as long, but I will withstand as much as needed so that my people have the right to be Ukrainians on Ukrainian Land, live righteously, honestly and by their conscience and to decide their fate on their own!

Ukraine will be victorious! I believe!

With enormous respect for you and the Tatar people

    GE TODville,

Happiest of BD’s to you, GGail. 🙂

Great tweet roundup as usual, NW. The llama meme taking off on twitter is such a hoot.

Here’s my pushback to @jiminhofe (found it very difficult to type the characters that spell out @sendansullivan — what a joke.

Toward the end he asks about healthcare. Interesting.

“CUNINICO, Peru — No one ever expected Cuninico, a small riverside fishing village tucked in the heart of the world’s largest rainforest, to run out of drinking water. But it happened last June. Since then this remote Amazon hamlet has relied on state-run oil company Petro Peru to deliver shipments of bottled water from the nearest city, nine hours down river. Cuninico’s problem isn’t a lack of water, rather a surplus of oil. After a state-owned pipeline burst last June, some 2,000 barrels of oil leached into a nearby tributary, poisoning the Marañon River, which for generations has been the main life-support system for the 150 people of this village….

Community members say doctors have instructed them to avoid drinking the river water or using it to cook. Fish have become toxic, crippling the local economy and jeopardizing food security. “We’re very worried,” community leader Galo Vasquez told Fusion during a recent visit to the village. “Petro Peru has said they’re almost done cleaning up the spill and that they will not supply us with water anymore. But the water here is still contaminated. You see white foam on top of it, as it comes down the stream and enters the river.” ….continued”

“Some 109-year-olds read books, or play bridge -– but not Alfred “Alfie” Date. The oldest man in Australia spends his time knitting tiny wool sweaters for tiny, injured penguins. The prolific knitter told Australia’s Channel Nine News that when Phillip Island’s Penguin Foundation requested the tiny sweaters following a massive oil spill that injured hundreds of Little Penguins, a species only found in southern Australia and New Zealand, he couldn’t refuse….

…”The girls who used to work for me, they’ll tell you I’m a sucker. I can’t say no,” Date told Nine News. “It’s a good way of getting along in life. You make friends all the time but you don’t make a fool of yourself either,” he added. Date has been knitting for more than 80 years, but this was his first foray into bird knitwear. The Penguin Foundation stresses to eager knitters that “this is not a fashion statement” — the sweaters actually prevent the injured penguins from preening and swallowing the toxic oil….continued”

Good evening. At the end of your day, GGail, hope your day has been beyond fantastic.

I have mostly lurked past two days. We made our trip to Nashville. Me–to check on my cousin. Husband–For his interview with Campus Crusade for Christ. (Also lined up some other phone interviews.). We walked all around the exhibit hall. At one point, he said, “It’s a little like a circus.” THEN……….soon as we got out of the parking lot, he said this: “I think what we saw there gives Christians a bad name.” I definitely agreed with him. We had a short discussion then dropped it until we were at lunch with the woman from UMNS who is working with him. (United Methodist News Service). Dave brought the topic up. The woman is obviously very liberal. We had a wonderful discussion. One would have thought my husband is a “flaming liberal.” What it comes down to is that he is turned off by the extremism of the religious right in social issues, but is ‘trying’ –my guess–to maintain his Republucan/conservative political stance. Hmmmmmm……….interesting times. 🙂

      • February 26, 2015 at 9:43 pm

Yep. As I said, interesting times in my house. I share more and more things from TOD with him…….usually tweets about good, positive financial news, jobs, etc. He usually doesn’t comment, but I know I’ve gotten the good and correct info to him. Baby steps.

I’ve come to accept that there are conservatives, and then there are Republicans. The ones with conservative views – truly conservative – have nothing to do with the extremism, fanaticism and downright lunacy of the Republicans today. I know plenty of sane people with fiscal and social conservative views, who are not hateful and narrow-minded, as we see with the Republicans and their tea party handlers. Sounds like your husband got a rude awakening today.

      • February 26, 2015 at 11:33 pm

He’s never been the extreme, TP fanatic. Yet, as we’ve said here, it’s people like him that continue to vote for anyone with the R after the name, regardless. I think for many millions of them, it’s a mix of habit, pride and maybe some very misguided hope that the party will finally stop acting like extreme fools. That’s nit happening though, is it?!

Hi Yardarm! I hope all is well with you and your family and you are surviving what appears to be a severe winter in Chi-town. Thanks for checking in on me, brother. 2014 was a bit tough on my family as we lost two precious cousins of mine and a very dear friend. I am still hanging in there. My daughter (she is writing her PhD dissertation) took over my computer because hers was damaged. Now and then, she let’s me use it. I don’t comment much, but whenever I am able to read TOD, I always enjoy and appreciate reading your informative posts.

Thanks, brother. Hanging on to the memories and good times we had. Sorry I’ve not been getting your e-mails. Did I give you my current e-mail address? I actually have several of them, so I am not sure which one I gave you. Besides, my daughter installed a new wireless modem which changed my settings and I have not been able to retrieve all my e-mails, but I am working on it.
