Lest we forget, Rudy Giuliani used the New York Trade Center as his hideaway for sex with his mistress, until he moved her into the mayor’s mansion while his wife was still there.

This is one of the dumbest decisions MSNBC has ever made. First, they kicked out Martin Bashir, then Karen Finney, and now Joy Reid.

Joy covered and gave voice to important issues such as voter suppression, Ferguson, Eric Garner, workers striking for better wages, when that stupid network chose to gloss over them with some of their other hosts.

I’d rather watch paint dry. That’s how mind numbingly boring Ronan Farrow is.

The fact they can’t recognize the irony in their ‘Lean Forward’ slogan is hilarious. They’re fast becoming a station with hosts that don’t reflect the diversity of America and doesn’t recognize its core audience.

Neither Reid nor Farrow have been fired by the network. Reid will become MSNBC’s national correspondent, producing original reporting for on air and online programming.

Farrow is expected to host a new series of primetime specials for MSNBC and will be featured as a special correspondent across the network’s schedule.

Series of primetime specials is what CNN has been doing at 9 PM. Those shows stink.

      • 19 Nerdy Wonka
        February 19, 2015 at 5:48 pm

MSNBC knows that’s BS media lingo. National correspondent means they’re going to quietly phase her out. Ask Ann Curry how that’s working out for her after they shafted her in favor of Matt Lauer.

Ronan had crappy numbers. Cancel him, spend the ad dollars on Joy.

Instead they’re moving Thomas Robert to 1-3PM to anchor a show. Great. Another white guy in the TV lineup. That should be interesting. Why give Roberts two hours to yak, yak, yak, when you can have Joy keep her time slot and Roberts take the other time slot if MSNBC is so desperate to move him.

I know some folks do not care for Rachel, and I don’t care for her show always, but I fast forward through those reports. I like that she does indepth research and present the historical side of her stories.

            February 19, 2015 at 6:01 pm

Same here on your comment about Roberts. If I was close to a TV, then the only shows I would tune in to were Joy Reid, Rev. Al, Lawrence and the like.

Phil Griffin and whoever is working with him in the decision making room truly doesn’t know MSNBC’s audience. They look to be in a race for the next Fox News-lite network.

            • February 19, 2015 at 7:24 pm

Phil Griffin doesn’t care to know MSNBC’s “audience.” But he certainly cares about pleasing his benefactors – the Koch Brothers and Bain Capital who bankroll much of the RW propaganda mouthpieces like Joe Scarborough, Chuck Todd, Matthews, Andrea Mitchell, etc.

          • February 19, 2015 at 9:37 pm

I have been a Rachel Maddow fan since her radio days. My only real issue with her is the repetition. It feels like she’s trying to explain to children who don’t get it. Very annoying.

        • February 19, 2015 at 8:13 pm

I don’t know if you remember, but IMO, Roberts was absolutely terrible in that 10:00 AM Slot a while back. They moved him out and put in Chris Jansen before she became the WHC. Roberts is a professional false-equivalent propagandist.

I know I my TV’s want be tuned to MSNBC in that time slot for sure.

MSNBC needs to get rid of Morning Joe or at least cut his 3 hours to 1 hour. Who wants to listen to him pontificating early in the morning. They need to report news and facts. They really need to lean left not tilt to the right. They don’t know their audience. They show crime shows when they need to put on real news, domestic and international. The media in general have been reporting the news like it’s a sporting event instead giving facts and information that effect real peoples lives. Also, they need to get rid of Andrea Mitchell not Joy Reid.

I constantly get push back on my feelings about MSNBC but I will continue to tell you that until they take the rights model of Fox (excluding the lies) and become a solid left wing cable station they will always be a mediocre network. You have to decide what you are and stick with it. They lean right in the morning and during the middle of the day they are center right then they bare to the left in the evening (with the caveat of holding PBO’s feet to the fire).

The conservative entertainment complex is pure perfection at what they set out to achieve. It’s all about promoting their beliefs and getting the mainstream to buy into it and report things the way they want them reported.

Time after time I read here and other places on the internet where people say they just wish MSNBC would stick to the news and leave their opinions to themselves. The problem with that is that it would not be entertaining. Cable news is infotainment. It is not straight news. Statistics have shown cable execs that you can’t keep people watching all day (like some do) if all you do is report the news. Throw in controversy and opinion and voila you get viewership. Fox and Limbaugh and all the other conservative propaganda media machine know how to captivate their audiences. Regardless of what we may think of them, their model works.

And you don’t have to get into the gutter (like Fox and Limbaugh etc..) to be a Progressive or Liberal media you just have to know how to appeal to your audience. If I want to hear people bash PBO I will turn on Fox but yet they jump right on whatever negative bandwagon is the flavor of the day with very little perspective of their being a positive side to a particular story. I’ve seen TODer’s take a negative story propagated by the right and present facts that dispel those negative stories and rarely will you see these so-called MSNBC hosts do the same. They will just right with it. Who the hell wants to watch that kind of mess? Not me and not a whole bunch of other folks that think like me. So they will continue to take a dive in the polls and hope that the 2016 election will spur interests in their station so they will have a temporary high of believing that what they are doing really works.

      Hi, DD!

I was just walking down the thread and thinking along these exact lines >> “You have to decide what you are and stick with it.” Only difference was I was thinking it in relation to Joy Reid. Specifically, I was wondering to myself – what if, since it was almost certain her lifespan at MSNBC wouldn’t be front and centre into retiremen – what if she had chosen to be herself 99% of the time? She would likely have been reshuffled anyway, but she would have had an even stronger following, and it would be even clearer to everyone why she was moved.

BTW, I also agree with your assessment re liberals not nurturing their ‘own media”.

Preach! and Retweeted. 🙂 Succintly and brilliantly put. It’s why our illustrious Pres and his administration are continuing to find ways to go around them. We have to do the same in our way when/where we can in our immediate circles and hip peeps to what’s what; so it’s a ripple effect. I continue to do it with my family & friends so at least now those who still watch cable “news” balance it with getting info on the Internet/other sources and not taking what they see on TV as “gospel”. Even my parents who watch MSNBC are “seeing the light”. And when I see how again Twitter so quickly amplified the horrific execution of those 3 Muslim students down in NC, and brought that to everyone’s doorsteps, so it couldn’t be ignored, I have some hope that the lamestream media’s extinction is in the cards:not as fast as I would like of course. 🙂

I saw yesterday’s WHPB this week, which was pretty much a repeat of one I saw last week.

WHPC in lockstep asking why PBO doesn’t describe the Extremist Summit as “Islamic terrorism.”

I swear, every.single.network.WHPC assaulted Josh Earnest with the same question.

So Josh Earnest has to jump through hoops, answering the same question in a different way. He clearly stated that within the papers recovered after the OBL raid was handwringing on bin Laden’s part because the West was seeking out Al-Qaeda, not “Muslim terrorists.” His papers outlined how to get the West to wage a war on Islam for recruitment purposes.

Josh refrains from answering the way TODville would — to cite all the RWNJs terrorism against Americans, e.g., Aurora, Sandy Hook, Tucson, Chapel Hill, etc., the list is endless and points directly to the GOP who place rifle crosshairs over Dem congressional districts and the bloodthirsty, war-loving MSM who uniformly get worked into a lather at thought of a “Clash of Civilizations (Christianity vs. Islam).”

FAfter Much Prayer’ Pediatrician Refuses To Treat Infant Because She Has Two Moms (Video)

A Michigan pediatrician says she cannot in good moral conscience accept a same-sex couple’s baby as a patient.

Jami and Krista Contreras live in Oak Park, Michigan, a state without protections for LGBT people, and the state the 6th Circuit ruled can deny marriage to same-sex couples. But when they found a pediatrician who met their requirements, and knew they were a couple, they were thrilled to bring their six-day old newborn baby to her for her first wellness checkup.

The couple met with Dr. Roi before their baby was born, and were pleased. But they say when the got to the office of Dr. Vesna Roi at Eastlake Pediatrics last October for the baby’s first checkup, they were told that they would have to see a different pediatrician. Now they’re speaking out because they feel a great sense of injustice.

A few weeks ago, Dr. Roi sent them a letter to explain her decision.

“I never meant to hurt either of you,” Dr. Roi writes. “After much prayer following your prenatal [visit], I felt that I would not be able to develop the personal patient doctor relationship that I normally do with my patients.”

“Please know that I believe that God gives us free choice and I would never judge anyone based on what they do with that free choice,” the letter, obtained by the Detroit Free Press, continues. “Again, I am very sorry for the hurt and angry feelings that were created by this. I hope that you can accept my apology.”

    She signed the message, “Blessings.”

I do not believe Christie can win the Republican nomination. His very manner, his rudeness, his coarseness will not play well in the South. I’ve lived in the upper south long enough now, with children in Texas to know that, you may stab a person in the back when he’s not looking, but to his face you will smile, shake his hand and ask about his children. Surface politeness is VERY important. He would be considered too rude by even Republican Oklahoma standards. There are plenty of other Republican candidates, that will knock Christie out. His rudeness, coarseness may play well in a limited area, but westerners and southerners do not like upfront rude. He needs to get out more……and so do his advisers if he wants to make any progress.

    • February 19, 2015 at 10:02 pm

I knew people from NJ who were not Republicans and voted for Christie even when they were not having any progress of getting help after hurricane sandy.

When I was growing up, heard a lot about Pullman cars — not sure if they made it to San Diego. Have only been on one train ride. When I was about 10, my mother took me on a train ride to Little Tokyo in LA. I remember that I enjoyed the experience — but what’s not to like? The train routes have such lyrical names — the Coast Starlight to Seattle, the California Zephyr, the Panama Limited (the daytime partner for the nighttime City of New Orleans.

Have never been to Chicago, but if I do, will definitely stop at this National Monument.

Would love to see Feingold in the Senate — thankfully after PBO leaves office.

PBO has had to deal with enough emoprog dude bros the past 6 years, and you know that if Feingold were in the Senate now, he’d be leading the pack.

        Hello Arapaho!

I had mixed feelings about Feingold the two years he was in the senate during PBO’s 1rst term, but I never felt his disagreements with the President were a platform for T.V. bookings like so many others…and I know PBO felt the same way b/c he was one of the only candidates that FLOTUS campaigned for that cycle & PBO made him a co-chair of his re-elect.

You might be right. After November 2014, I’m wary of most “vocal” Dems.

The Obamas are such generous, big-hearted people. They are the polar opposite of the cynical, conniving, vengeance-seeking, triangulating Clintons.

I just want someone who will protect PBO’s legislative achievements as POTUS & I think getting back 4 Senate seats is going to be tough. WI, Toomey in PA, Ayotte in NH & Kirk-IL will be the best shot…that is w/ H.Reid not losing or any other surprises?

I posted upthread about category 5 cyclone Marcia — it has made landfall and is now a category 4 on its way to Brisbane.
