This is so rich, i just had to share again:

    http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2957942/Netanyahu-s-campaign-hit-expenses-claims.html

The best part is after going behind our pres’ back every chance he gets, then in defense of his extravagent spending, BiBi tries to claim he needed to because he didn’t want Obama to sit on a coffee stained couch.

Idiot. He knows nothing of our president. to have a sane, workable partner for peace in middle east our president would not be worried about what dang couch he is sitting on.

Thousands of people have taken to the streets of Burundi’s capital Bujumbura to celebrate the release of a prominent journalist controversially charged with the murder of three Italian nuns.

Crowds sang and danced after Bob Rugurika entered the city on Thursday after being freed on bail.

Such huge demonstrations in defiance of the government are rare in Burundi.

It will now be under further pressure to properly investigate the murder of the nuns, observers say.

Good morning Chips and TOD! Thanks for the comments on Villi yesterday. I know it is crazy to love a dog as much I loved him but he stole my heart when he was just a baby and never let go. I’ve loved a lot of dogs over the years but he was something else. I always felt honored to have him in my life. And he left us with a ton of great memories. We just thought we had at least seven more years with him. But I wouldn’t have traded those first seven years for anything. So life goes on albeit with changes. I’ve only been to two dog shows in the last 18 months, it is just too painful still. But very glad I’ve had agility with my little Pap to fill some of that void.

On the political side, I must admit I am shocked by Guiliani’s comments. Shouldn’t be I guess, but you’d think after six years some of this crap would fade. Obviously not. Unbelievable, and I sure wish someone would take him to task.

    GM Chips, TODville.

Thank you for the wonderful reminders of PBO’s first foreign trip to Canada.

I remember that day well, was glued to a Canadian newspaper blog, which reported on PBO’s every movement, including PBO dragging PM Harper out to wave at the (freezing) crowd lined up outside of Parliament — warmth was apparently more important to Harper than manners, LOL.

Not disparaging Canadians, by any means. The world is a better place with Canadians in it.

Warm and healing thoughts to CanadaBarb (h/t JO’B) and to Japa’s granddaughter who spent the night in ER. Hope both get better soon.

❤ Going in for an EMG today, had ultrasound and X-rays 2 days ago, trying to track nerve pain in upper left quadrant, since last JULY! As if it's not bad enough no longer having my 'hot water bottle that never goes cold'. Hey, a 14 pound Maine Coon with a cashmere coat does a mighty fine job keeping the bed warm! _^..^_ ❤

Good lucky MP with your EMG and that they find your nerve pain. So funny, the kitty I rescued last year looks like a Maine Coon. She is so cute and playful. She makes me laugh when she chases her balls. I am trying to find a home for her. I know it’s too soon but I wish you were close by to help me socialize her and get her ready for a forever home

My situation was nowhere near as dire as this person’s, but the tribulations of getting health care before ACA are identical to mine. Asthma as a pre-existing condition meant anything that happened to my pulmonary system was not covered. High risk pools were more than I made in a year, so no insurance for a decade. This is a good read:

It is interesting to see the national reaction to all the appearances VP Biden has been making lately, particularly when you consider where they have been (IA and SC to name a few). Except for the fact that there is almost no reaction to see. If Hillary pops her head up in, say, NH, it is all over the place.

I am fine with this to a degree, because I think the Hillary camp is too stupid to see the VP as a threat, but he is definitely out there sowing the seeds for a successful campaign. I have a hunch we will be hearing a formal announcement in the next 2 months.

      • 81 arapaho415
        February 19, 2015 at 12:27 pm

This makes sense to me (see my response to Japa).

Labor Day usually kicks off campaign season — I see @VP Biden spending a lot of time in the Hamptons this summer, encouraging donations from those who can afford it.

For some reason, I’m thinking that @VP announces his candidacy after the UN re-convenes in September. That’s always a huge MSM spectacle in NYC, and they won’t be able to ignore our ebullient @VP and his glorious wife, Dr. Jill Biden.

    • 82 arapaho415
      February 19, 2015 at 12:22 pm

      Hmmm…

My guess is that @VP Biden likes flying under the radar, and the MSM is playing into that strategy.

The only thing that will get them to sit up and take notice is when @VP Biden’s campaign coffers are overflowing. MSM can’t pass up anything having to do with (more) war and donor dollars$$$.

There is so much that pisses me off hourly about our MSM, but the fact that Darth “dick” Cheney allowed them to set the standard of “oh, the VP won’t run for POTUS” CW galls me. This Administration truly gets no respect from our “media.”

Hope your granddaughter is on the road to recovery. Poor girl has to be miserable and dehydrated, and has sub-freezing temps to look forward to once she gets home. 😦

Dean Obeidallah was on Stephanie Miller this morning. He explained how these groups appeal to the lack of self worth of youth and give them a sense of purpose. It’s no different than gang recruiting. When there is economic disadvantage and no education, these people are prime targets.

      • 85 japa21
        February 19, 2015 at 11:38 am

It’s no different than gang recruiting because that is basically what groups like ISIS are, gangs. They are just bigger and more heavily armed than most gangs and are even more barbaric than just about any gang.

PBO is correct to avoid emphasizing the fact that they are Muslims. They are a perversion of Islam.

However, to satisfy Fox News, I will happily call them Islamic terrorists or Islamic extremists when they start calling out groups for being Christian terrorists or Jewish extremists. Since I don’t expect that to ever happen, I am pretty safe.

The Southern Poverty Law Center counted 1,007 groups as active hate groups in the United States in 2012. Only organizations and their chapters known to be active during 2012 are included.[11]

          The groups included:

186 separate Ku Klux Klan (KKK) groups with 52 websites
          196 neo-Nazi groups with 89 websites
111 white nationalist groups with 190 websites
98 white power skinhead groups with 25 websites
39 Christian Identity groups with 37 websites
          93 neo-Confederate groups with 25 websites
113 black separatist groups with 40 websites
90 general hate groups (subdivided into anti-gay, Holocaust denial, racist music, radical traditionalist Catholic and others)[12][13] with 172 hate websites.[14]

Although not the intended purpose of the Religious Freedom Restoration Act, these possibilities were considered by critics. I don’t totally blame Bill Clinton for this one, but he was the one who signed it into law. And now we have stories like this:

    http://www.dailykos.com/story/2015/02/19/1365444/-After-much-prayer-doctor-refuses-to-see-6-day-old-baby-because-she-has-two-moms#

This doctor pretends to be a Christian? I don’t know why Christians believe this is what Jesus would do. The parents have nothing to do with the treatment of their child. If the doctor did not want to treat them that’s one thing but to treat the couple through the pregnancy then suddenly can’t due to religious reasons just does not make sense.

I am seething with outrage. However, this is now easy to do because of that act. This is the act used by pharmacists to refuse to fill birth control, etc. It is the law used in the Hobby Lobby case. It is the destruction of a functioning civil society upon which this country was built. It is outrageous.

    • February 19, 2015 at 8:17 pm

Not to put too fine a point on it, but in my opinion, Prez Clinton is responsible for the rise of Foxnews by deregulating the telecommunications industry. He also ushered in the advent of wall street excesses by repealing the glass-steagall act. I have no interest in either another Clinton or Bush in the White House. It’s time to stop this presidential inbreeding and widen the gene pool

      • 98 57andfemale
        February 20, 2015 at 9:23 am

Of his many boneheaded policies, the deregulation of the telecom industry is one of the most egregious. It was clear then that RW radio and TV was on the rise, and he was just fine with it. Repeal of glass-Steagall, of course, ruined the economy. I have a sinking feeling that we will see a Clinton/Bush race. What that says about America is so disturbing.

WASHINGTON (AP) — White House officials say State Department spokeswoman Jen Psaki will become President Barack Obama’s new communications director, filling a key slot as Obama embarks on the final two years of his presidency.

She replaces veteran Democratic media strategist Jennifer Palmieri, who is leaving the White House to join Hillary Rodham Clinton’s likely presidential campaign. She will step into her new role April 1.

Hi TOD! I’ve just been lurking when I can. My mom has a brain tumor that has grown back after 17 years that is seriously, negatively impeding the quality of her life. She’s 80, tiny but tough, a fast healer and has no other (that we know of) medical issue that would interfere with surgery. There are episodes of confusion, delusion, and depression along with seizures and the inability to walk.Meanwhile, I have other family members dying off at a relatively young age.

All of these things have increased my appreciation for what is wonderful and beautiful in the world. I try to grab a blessing out of each day and stay grateful for my needs being met.

I have all of you who post here at TOD to thank for adding to my day. I come here anytime and find truth and beauty, music, a heads up on the good this country offers, such as posts on the national parks… I am always enlightened, and strengthened by the bond I feel with a bunch of folks I never met. I pray with you, Sue, I mourn with you, MP, I thank Dr. Bob for keeping us aware of our people around the world, I dance and sing with Dudette; all of you I have running movie in my head and all the TOD folks go in and out and make me laugh and cry, and go hmmmm and look things up.

This man is responsible for the deaths of many firefighters on 9-11, because of his self-serving ignorance. It has always been a mystery to me how the media portrayed him as some kind of hero. Same with the Bush Administration. Their unwillingness to do ANYTHING with all the warnings they received, from our own intelligence agency and others around the world, should have been 3″ headlines.

The idea that BushCo kept us safe is an unfunny joke, since the deadliest terrorist attack in our Nation’s history took place on their watch.

How can so many people in this country have been bamboozled

      • 136 sherijr
        February 19, 2015 at 9:29 pm

they continue to be bamboozled for exactly the reason you stated: the media. For some folks that is still their only source of info. Although I believe now with the abundance of cell phones and access to all different media, folks that want the facts- can/do find them. However there will always be folks who prefer to believe the BS… and our history shows that apparently we will always have a media that can/ will lie to us. The greatest thing this President does frequently is to remind us of our power, that we are who we’ve been waiting for and it is up to us to pay attention, be real citizens and to participate.. and hopefully that means that some of our best and brightest will change the media.

Polls are like quicksand. You think you’re on firm ground, just before you sink into oblivion. I’m glad that President Obama has good poll numbers, but they are not a reflection of his good works. When someone takes a poll that outlines all his good works, and then asks the favorability question or the ‘is he doing a good job’ question I will be impressed. Context is everything.

“With all that hysteria lathered up, I figure that it’s a good time to take a step back and think about what has the right wingers in such a state. Scroll back up to my second paragraph and you’ll get a clue. The economic recovery seems to finally be in full swing, the federal deficit is plummeting, and Obamacare is a raging success by almost any measure. Add to that the fact that the new Republican Congress is failing miserably and you start to get the picture”
“What is happening here is more like the spread of a contagion. As the dying beast runs out of weapons with which to strike back, it is reverting to base instincts. And those are primarily related to their racist fears. So its getting really ugly out there.”
