On Fox News. Yes, she did.

Thank you, John McCain, for letting America know that any idiot can achieve higher office. This is the Palin Effect from that miserable, petty, venomous little man.

    Hilarious. Truly hilarious:

    http://www.dailykos.com/story/2015/02/18/1365159/-Jeb-Bush-claims-I-am-my-own-man-Now-meet-his-foreign-policy-advisers

“But I am my own man β€” and my views are shaped by my own thinking and own experiences.

In light of that claim, it’s interesting to consider the foreign policy advisers with whom Jeb Bush has, as his own man, chosen to surround himself. Like Tom Ridge and Michael Chertoff, George W.’s two homeland security secretaries. And Porter Goss and Michael Hayden, two of George W.’s CIA directors. And Iraq War architects Paul Wolfowitz, Stephen Hadley, and Meghan O’Sullivan. The list goes on.”

Hope everyone is staying comfortable today whether in the bitter cold or scorching heat, dealing with new pets or mourning ones recently gone.

Oregon is getting a new Governor this morning. High hopes for a productive legislative session. The Senate already passed the clean fuels bills, so that’s an encouraging start.

This Jewish girl wants DWS fired:

    • February 18, 2015 at 12:43 pm

      I’m so slow today it’s embarrassing – I was like, ‘I don’t think Miles is a girl’. 😳

      Afternoon 57!!

I’m not Jewish and it wouldn’t bother me if she was fired too.

      February 18, 2015 at 1:40 pm

Another Jewish person—elderly—stands with you, 57.

This Bibi situation must be a heart-warmer to DLC types.
To the rest of us it is heartburn.

      • 45 57andfemale
        February 18, 2015 at 1:58 pm

I want Israel to be safe but damn it, Vicki, I never in my wildest dreams thought Israel would become an apartheid state. I’m sick of the arrogance of Bibi – how dare he treat our POTUS this way? And how DARE he say he speaks for all Jews worldwide and that their only home is Israel? How DARE HE!

I’m an American Jew. He does not speak for me. And this is really my last straw with DWS. She could have stood up for her President but she chose a coward’s way out. Again.

        • 46 Vicki
          February 18, 2015 at 2:43 pm

DWS is doing what she is paid to do by the RW, neo-con, conservadems, bluedogs, AIPAC enthusiasts, weapons manufaturers, call it what you will but ruling class will do for me.

Hence, DWS is not so interested in the people of Florida or anyplace else. She doesn’t work for her constituents, let alone Our President.
Her old band, the DLC, is getting back together for one more shot at the top prize.
Ted Strickland, Joe Sestak, and other tired old retreads are lookng for one more moment in the sun. One more stretch towards the brass ring.
          Nobody under 60 need apply.

          • 47 57andfemale
            February 18, 2015 at 3:17 pm

If there isn’t a deeper Democratic bench at this point, that is totally the fault of DWS’ leadership and her merry band of DLC’ers. It’s outrageous.

    • 48 jackiegrumbacher
      February 18, 2015 at 1:45 pm

57, this is one of a very long list of reasons why DWS should be quietly asked to resign. It shouldn’t coincide with the Bibi speech because that would be too overt, but it should happen this Spring. I hope and pray that PBO is looking for a replacement that will concentrate full time energies on the job and fight for Democrats. DWS is not that person.

      • 49 57andfemale
        February 18, 2015 at 3:21 pm

I think PBO has been too conciliatory with the party, frankly. I have very few criticisms of him, but in his heart he wants to turn the country back to progressive ideals but wasn’t forceful enough to demand that the party support him. He shouldn’t have to, of course, but under DWS the party has run from PBO’s accomplishments from Day 1 and/or made it extremely difficult to get the legislation that he envisioned. By sheer force of his brilliance, he was able to win election twice. But he did it without the full-throated support of his party and that is outrageous.

I think she is ensconsed for 2016. And the party picked Jon Tester to head the DSCC. Great – another rural Blue Dog who doesn’t have a clue about progressive ideals. Great. Just great.

          February 18, 2015 at 3:49 pm

Your colclusions seem right to me.
Except that PBO may be playing a deeper game.

If POTUS has cut DWS and the rest of the DLC loose It may be because they are an anchor dragging him down.

What if the President has something else in mind for the country? A new party, born out of the Obama Coalition. Sign me up.

The GOP used to have its share of real patriots. Now that it’s owned by billionaires and in thrall to the radical right, it is no longer patriotic in any true sense of that word and far more racist and hateful. Republicans will give PBO NOTHING for fear that he will be successful. That he has triumphed in spite of them is a tribute to his genius and leadership.

Jackieg and 57, If you pair this comment with the item I just posted re: DWS I believe we are heading towards a better understanding of USA 2015.

DWS and GOP are much more the same than different.

Noam Chomsky said that Dem and GOP were toothpaste in slightly differing boxes.

PBO made that FALSE. POTUS is one of these things that is not like the others. And color is the least of the difference. Decency, compassion, intelligence, sincerity, patriotism, actual democratic good intentions. That is what we have with Our President.

DWS and GOP make Chomsky’s gloomy take true once again,

    I don’t like Dems Govs leaving their posts when there’s a scandal…….
In the 21st Century, Dems have done it at least 4X.
    McGrevey(sp) from NJ.
    Spitzer(sp) from NY
    Blogoivich(sp) from IL
    Gov K from OR.
    This has got to stop.
Walker in WI, Synider in MI, Page in ME, Sanford from SC….the Luv Gov then, Nikki from SC, Rick Scott from FL, etc stayed, fought, won re-elections. Sanford finished his term, with a few years, was rewarded with a Congressional seat, now in his 2nd term.
Weakness, kills a party, perception or not. It demoralizes the base and emboldens the opposition to NEVER correcting their bullying tactic, beliefs nor are they ever held to account for their mendacity.

I know this isn’t a popular opinion, the Blago did not deserve what he got. No money ever changed hands; and what he was accused (and convicted of) is business as usual for any other governor. It was a travesty of justice; but everyone believes he was the biggest crook to ever grace a governor’s mansion. God.

He didn’t play well with the legislature and they were looking for an excuse to get rid of him. Fitzgerald was a disgrace as prosecutor: he’s the one who kept letting Karl Rove change his testimony and could only manage to indict one guy in the Valerie Plame scandal. But Blago? Hitler, Al Capone and Idi Amin all rolled into one bundle of GUILTY.

        February 18, 2015 at 1:04 pm

        I agree 1001% with Blago.
My main reasoning that Dem Govs should Not be driven out of their elected office when the Same level of scrutiny is Never applied to the TBGOP govs……Heck the Media was making excuses for Mark Sanford…..even though the guy left the country for his sexual healing.

What the whack jobs don’t get: even if you are “entitled” (ahem) to your “religious” (ahem) exemption, you do not have the right to inflict your religious beliefs on your employees.

This is no longer just the fringe – they really want to turn this secular beacon of a nation into a religious state.

How about the Alabama governor order an overhaul of the various police departments in the state and make sure that the racist use of excessive force on people of color is both prohibited and severely punished. Then how about making sure that this man’s medical costs are paid for. An apology is nice, but not nearly enough.

Good afternoon TOD! I am feeling guilty with half my family in MN freezing and friends on the East Coast with more snow than they know what to do with. It is absolutely gorgeous here, sunny and in the 60’s.

I am so thrilled that PBO is naming Clancy to head the SS. Even his looks inspire trust, and he has demonstrated over the last few months he isn’t afraid of moving people out to restore the agency’s standing. Looking forward to the official announcement. And I am keeping my fingers crossed that for once the Fifth Circuit will do the right thing and overturn the preliminary injunction issued by the idiot judge here. You really do start to wonder just how many crazies can be found in some form of public office in ONE state. Between the federal bench, the governorship, the state AG, the state legislature and the two senators, it is nothing short of mind boggling!
