I love how places like the WSJ talk about 6 years of failure, crisis and scandal. Well, they are correct. The GOP has been a failure at stopping the President from moving this country forward; the GOP has manufactured crisis after crisis like a toddler throwing a tantrum, and it has been a scandal at how un-American the GOP has been motivated by hatred and racism against this man.

I am sure that is what the WSJ was referring to, right?

Thanks for sharing this funny picture. I do feel a connection to this Snow Man because I feel the same way. Time to move to a tropical place!

Ooooo, lots of 😎 pics! Thanks, Ms CC!

On the previous thread I was thinking that you will need several mansions (with car elevators) to showcase each PBO (+ family/admin) pic that you describe as ‘Always loved that one, COS’!

Hey, the Obama Foundation could commission you to run an international Obama museum dedicated to pictures….maybe an online virtual museum. Heck, it could be a museum of TOD posts AND pictures – the possibilities seem ….. highly possible! 😉 😉

Good morning everyone! Thinking of all you on the east coast. Sending warm thoughts from sunny Montana. It is still in the 40’s and sunny. Suppose to be like this all thru next week. Maybe some snow but only 30% chance. This is so wrong.

I love that #iloveobama is still trending. It is really bringing out the haters, but also reasons why he is loved. Sure hope all those people get out to vote next election.

Mt, did PA accidentally get Montana’s winter weather? Somebody or something royally screwed up. It’s like mail getting delivered to the wrong house. Would be more than happy to redirect the address and send it back. I’ll even pay the postage.

I really would love some snow. I worry about summer. We do have a good pack on the mountain tops but that doesn’t help in the valley’s now. You take care of yourself and stay warm!

The Texas judge that placed an injunction on PBO’s Immigration executive action ( not executive order ) just gave Boehner and McConnell their opening to pass a clean DHS appropriations bill.

    GM TODville,

Chips, thanks for being so organized and on top of things to post PBO’s current schedule along with the treat-of-the-day, the “on this day” photos.

A couple of observations about today’s OTD’s photos:

    – Interesting that AF1 has no lights on, despite the fact it appears to be dusk outside (we do in fact live in a blue-screen world).
    – Denver looks spectacular in the 2011 photos
    – Mark Zuckerberg looks like the cat who caught the canary because he’s seated right next to the greatest President of his lifetime.

When is someone going to call out the fact that so-called pundits are paid salaries that rival hedgefund managers for being parrots to one another?

@WSJ’s Stephens is parroting @WSJ’s George Will by alleging that PBO is “unpresidential.” I’ve scoured TOD for appropriate tweet responses — I know I saw them yesterday, but can’t find them now — showing Reagan with the thumbs in ears mock and GWB flipping the bird. So presidential of them of course, since they are elite white males.

Can someone here locate and post?

    Thanks!

Just as with the other “optics” fake scandals, from umbrella-gate, to tan suit-gate, to suit jacket-gate, to feet on desk-gate to the obsession some have with PBO playing golf, all of this ire is the result of the real optics of having a Black man as President. Racists always attempt to deflect the real reason for their racist hatred. Trayvon was not murdered because he was wearing a hoodie, he was killed because he was a Black teen walking in the wrong neighhorhood in the view of his racist killer. By the same token, these racists point to these bogus optics “scandals” in an effort to convince non-racists to share in their hatred of all things PBO. Racists cannot be convinced of the foolishness of their arguments. Their entire world view, and their place in it, depends on their belief in PBO being a horrible, scandal plagued President, who is both weak and a tyrant. Who hasn’t done anything, while at the same time is radically and lawlessly changing the country. The contradictions don’t matter, so long as PBO is put down (or put in his place).

      • February 17, 2015 at 1:05 pm

I agree with all you say….

but it time for more white folks of good will to stand up and be counted….

        • 56 Vicki
          February 17, 2015 at 1:29 pm

The venom directed against PBO is racist. Just it is not Only racist. Racism is the weapon the RW uses to rally their voters against PBO.

If Colin Powell or Clarence Thomas were the president I think racism would be deplored by that same GOP.

Which is my way of saying, not for the first time, that the strong objection to President Obama has to do with the threat the GOP perceives (correctly) that PBO poses to their profits.
The ACA helps millions of Americans. That is a threat to the GOP Zero Sum game of “All for me and None for you.”

Maybe it is less the color of POTUS skin than the threat to revenue streams that causes the relentless hatred.

I could be 100% wrong on this.
After my misreading of the 2014 election results i question my judgement in getting anything right.

            February 17, 2015 at 1:50 pm

That theory works for the GOP and pundits but does not deal with the deafening silence of the majority of White Americans to this constant attack. My original comment dealt with the constant and repetitive problem with PBO’s optics, which I believe is racist in nature. This country has a long and sad racial history when it comes to African-Americans. That the GOP taps into that racism to benefit politically does not make the country any less racist, imho. Hitler used the anti-Jewish sentiment that existed in Germany to come to power, the fact that he exploited that anti-jewish sentiment for political gain does not mean that that anti-jewish sentiment did not exist in reality.

I totally agree. Starting to think “white folks of good will” are in the minority.

Here we are in total agreement. Many more white folks need to stand up. White folks that care about more than only themselves are definitely in the minority.

    • February 17, 2015 at 12:57 pm

Why shouldn’t Boehner be willing to shut down DHS, after all when they shut down the Government they weren’t punish by the voters for doing so. Instead we had voters who sat home on their butts and not vote. Which allow them to keep the House and gain control of the Senate. So Boehner and his racists do nothing party weren’t punish.

Can someone send this to that jerk Stephens at the WSJ who thinks PBO’s Buzzfeed video was ” appalling ” during this fight on terrorism.?

Maybe the panic these folks seem to be suffering from is the result of the ACA enrollment period ending on Sunday with no bad news (i.e., no website glitches or other problems). PBO’s successes, which the ACA is definitely one, seems to shake some folk’s worldview which leads to these very public panic attacks. Could also be that PBO pisses the msm off when he circumvents them to get his message to the American people directly. I’m sure PBO would gladly have used a prime time address to the Nation to inform people of the ACA deadline, but we all know that the Networks would have refused. The GOP/MSM don’t want PBO’s message to reach the American people and get very angry and panicked when finds EFFECTIVE alternatives to get the job done.

      • February 17, 2015 at 12:58 pm

Yes I agree Eric. The ACA good news just keeps getting better. It’s unstoppable at this point. Even the effects of state court action will be minimally impactful (or will not affect those the RWNJ’s would like to be affected).
