Only fair. Last on previous thread. First on this one.

A belated response to West Wing Week. I agree with Chips and Meta that VPBiden is being featured more and in a very positive manner.

The asinine and inaccurate RW crap about “gaffes” made by VPOTUS will be buried by truth if/when he announces his candidacy.

I’m very glad the FBI is looking into this hate crime. These three young people were deliberately targeted and we all know that. Yusor’s statement about America is so hopeful and positive, I wish it had been true for all of them. Truly heartbreaking that those who saw the best in the US, experienced the worst.

CNN is talking about in Iraq ISIS making advances to some fort were U.S. soldiers are at? You know that is a big story to them cause they want to see U.S. soldiers get caught in some battle with ISIS.

    • February 13, 2015 at 2:55 pm

Exactly. They want US soldiers in it and they want it to go badly so they can blame the President

Is CNN putting pressure on GOP Congress to pass PBO’s war powers request? That was a rhetorical question, as I know they wouldn’t dare point fingers at the GOP’s inability to govern. I am just pointing out how the propaganda never puts any responsability on the GOP. Don’t understand how Americans can watch “news” that roots for the death of U.S. soldiers and failure for the country, just because the favored presidential candidate of the owner class did not win. If, God forbid, the GOP wins the presidency in 2016 there will be little difference between the American media and that of Putin’s Russian. Fascism here we come!!!

Hmmm Do I understand your coverage of the Cybersecurity Summit properly ?

This President is holding a summit on Global cybersercurity and YOU are reporting on Billionaire CEO’S not being there and at the same time are showing the President in the background with the sound off instead of broadcasting what he is saying ?

oh…so the CEO’s are pouting because they have to give the government information. Yet….you NEVER cover that these same Billionaires are getting richer and richer by SELLING ALL YOUR DATA to outside sources ?

Did I get that right CNN ?

President Obama Has Used His Executive Powers To Break The Republican Party

According to The Hill, Republican infighting is growing over the House-passed bill that would fund Homeland Security while overturning President Obama’s immigration executive actions, “GOP infighting between the House and Senate is growing as Republicans work to prevent a partial shutdown of the Homeland Security Department at the end of the month. House conservatives on Thursday pointedly criticized Senate Republicans for saying a House-approved bill funding the agency and reversing President Obama’s executive actions on immigration was dead in the Senate.”

In the first six weeks that Republicans have had control of Congress, they have passed one bill that became a law. The rest of their time has been split between passing dead on arrival legislation (attacks on Obamacare and authorizing Keystone XL) and fighting with each other over President Obama’s executive actions.

The president successfully derailed the Republican agenda through a series of targeted executive actions on issues that divide the GOP. Obama has successfully fractured and broken the Republican majority by exploiting divides within their party. The White House had planned this strategy for months before the 2014 election. Republicans never saw it coming.

Of course not, Linda, this is right up President Obama’s alley. President Obama is calculating and ruthless, and now he is serving his dish up cold.

        February 13, 2015 at 3:24 pm

Linda, Don, bella, derBingle. All going according to plan, isn’t it?
PBO attempts to engage Congress in what he is doing with ISIL, the Congress wants nothing to do with it.

I agree with the view that they want a big war that profits their paymasters, that will go badly, which they can then blame on The President.
It is not going to go well for the dumbells. Even at this late date , 6 years in,, the disloyal opposition in both parties have no idea with whom they are dealing.

        • 41 jackiegrumbacher
          February 13, 2015 at 3:52 pm

Vicki, the very fact that they consistently underestimate PBO, gives him an unparalleled advantage because they never see it coming. They see him through their own distorted lenses and dimwitted mentalities and have the gall to think they can psych out a president who is infinitely smarter than they are. They dismiss him as “professor” smart, living in a rarefied world that doesn’t relate to hard political realities. But he understands the realities better than they do and knows how to fight with weapons they haven’t got the brains to understand. They’re like lumbering Neanderthals trying to outsmart Homo Sapiens.

Add to that the fact that some of them are trying to do the bidding of their most hateful constituents and do their best to oppose him at every turn, and now that the GOP holds House and Senate majorities, there’s no one else to blame for obstructing a President whose positions are seen as correct by a majority of Americans.

They’ll wish they hadn’t won the midterms.

Democrat Kitzhaber Resigns As Oregon Governor Amid Ethics Scandal

Oregon Gov. John Kitzhaber (D) announced Friday that he would resign from office amid an ethics scandal that has plagued him and his fiance.

His resignation will take effect next Wednesday, Feb. 18. Secretary of State Kate Brown will succeed him.

Kitzhaber and his fiance Cylvia Hayes face allegations that aides to the governor helped find Hayes employment at public policy organizations in Oregon, sometimes paying six figures, while she was still informally advising the governor.

“It is not in my nature to walk away from a job I have undertaken – it is to stand and fight for the cause,” he said in a statement. “For that reason I apologize to all those people who gave of their faith, time, energy and resources to elect me to a fourth term last year and who have supported me over the past three decades.”

“It is deeply troubling to me to realize that we have come to a place in the history of this great state of ours where a person can be charged, tried, convicted and sentenced by the media with no due process and no independent verification of the allegations involved,” Kitzhaber continued. “But even more troubling – and on a very personal level as someone who has given 35 years of public service to Oregon – is that so many of my former allies in common cause have been willing to simply accept this judgment at its face value.”

    http://talkingpointsmemo.com/livewire/oregon-governor-kitzhaber-resigns

    • February 13, 2015 at 3:40 pm

This is sad. Unfortunately Gov. Kitz did not set boundaries with his fiancé allowing her to have inappropriate business dealings that had the appearance, if not the fact, of impropriety in his governance.

      February 13, 2015 at 3:44 pm

Dude you’re a Governor, I’m sure you’re making more than the minimum wage in that state. I’m sure your wife can squeak by with making five figures instead of six. Why can’t you do like most Republican Governors and have the Koch brothers funnel in some money through some cool sounding PAC.

      • February 13, 2015 at 4:11 pm

You are totally misrepresenting this situation. This woman is not his wife, she is a fiancé’ and has no legal relationship with him. It is disrespectful and sexist to frame this a matter of her “hotness” or not. Her income is not his income. And Dem governors are not in large part like GOP governors in how they get their election funding. This is a sad and tragic situation in our state, and your disrespectful comments are inappropriate and not appreciated.

I can’t remember a GOPer Governor ever stepping down from office in modern times due to scandals.
Palin left to make herself a Millionaire.
McGrevey from NJ……in the early 2000s.
      Spitzer from NY in 2007/2008
With all his issues, Mark Sanford of SC never left. Luv Go…….now a Rep from SC.
      Now Gov K from OR.
      Stop being Wusses Dems.

Are you one of those likely to be taking backyard bird pictures, Meta? All I see in my backyard are the footprints from the winter squirrels who seem to take a daily walk to and from the fence and through into the neighbour’s yard.

  24. February 13, 2015 at 4:05 pm

OK, so I just did some reconnaissance and it looks like POTUS is having dinner just 6 blocks from my apartment building!! The police and dog sniffers were just arriving and the local police are starting show up. I asked one of them how close they’re going to let people get and he said he didn’t know. The third photo is the view POTUS will have just a few feet away from the house. This is SO COOL!!

          • February 13, 2015 at 4:39 pm

I know, right???!!!! I think I’ve figured out his route. He’ll helicopter into Chrissy Field by the GG Bridge. They’ve closed part of Bay St., which leads to the home where he’ll dine. Then I’ll think they’ll turn up Hyde St because they’ve posted notices that the Cable Car will be shut down starting at 1:30 for the POTUS. The home is just right off Hyde. The dinner is supposed to be at 4:40pm so I think I’m going to walk down there about 4:15 or so and see what’s going on. If I see his motorcade, I know my heart will be racing!

Remember – I told y’all he let the window down to wave at me because I had on my t-shirt of him getting out of the beast with his ray bans on. Remember?

    It’s a conventional war and it ain’t stopping ….

“While the Minsk negotiations went on, Russian-terrorist units in Donbas did not cease their attempts to advance in the area of Debaltseve. We note a sharp increase in the numbers of regular Russian army units in this area (personnel from different military units of the Russian Armed Forces, combined into tactical groups). Ukrainian artillery delivered multiple fire strikes on the terrorists’ battle lines. However, the enemy continues the offensive, despite incurring heavy losses near Lohvynove and Nyzhnje Lozove over the last 24 hours (a total of 8 armored vehicles and 10 motor vehicles).

Units of local ‘LNR’ [Luhansk People’s Republic] insurgents, which had been pulled back from the Debaltseve area deeper into terrorist-controlled territory, are flat out refusing to continue fighting alongside Russian regular troops (the latter use local terrorists in the most dangerous areas).”
