I had to go back to find him – mostly I saw POTUS and FLOTUS 🙂 When I rule the world (to plagiarize the BT) John McCain can wait out the back.

The GOPers in the Senate held up her nomination. They Confirmed the DoJ Sec who was nominated a full month after Mrs Lynch was nominated for the AG post.
The Senate GOPers might take up her nomination in March.
Once again, the GOPers showing their bigotry, preference and total disrespect for a person of color in the Era of Pres Barack Obama.

GOP and MSM and Comcast and Koch are all one and the same.

Bloodthirsty greedy bastards without an ounce of empathy.

“Days after it was revealed that Comcast changed one customer’s first name to ‘Asshole,’ the company pulled a similar stunt again, changing 63-year-old Mary Bauer’s name to ‘SuperBitch.'”

just seeing that james comey speech and you all weren’t kidding about how good it is. thing i never get though is when someone so smart and well-meaning as he seems to be, can still be republican after these last few decades. james comey donated to mccain/palin and rmoney/ryan over obama/biden. i know people here talk of family and friends that are republican still, and i have some too, but i honestly have to question the mental faculties of someone who thinks it’s a good idea to put sarah palin one heartbeat away from the presidency over barack obama, and mittens rmoney too.

i get family and tradition and all that being hard to change, but if these last 12-13 years, let alone since reagan, aren’t enough to make you switch, you really have some mental problems. seriously.

After a hue and cry from the Indian community, Madison (Alabama) police chief Larry Muncey announced that officer Eric Parker, who brutalised 57-year-old Sureshbhai Patel on February 6, has been arrested and charged with third degree assault.

“Officer was wrong, I apologize,” he said at a press conference, February 12.

Chief Muncey said the FBI is conducting a parallel inquiry to ascertain if there were any federal violations.

Parker was also fired from his job for his use of force against a man who committed no crime, did not speak English and could not understand the police commands.

African penguin Pat celebrated her 37th birthday by tucking into a flower-shaped sprat cake and a blue gelatine cake filled with even more sprats.

Pat, who lives on the English coast, is the envy of many — bird and human — as she shares her own private beach with attentive toy boy Eddie.

She was born in Paignton Zoo in 1978 and is thought to be the second-oldest penguin in Europe.

The great-grandmother moved to Living Coasts in Torquay where she spends her days chilling with Eddie, who was hatched at the zoo in 2001,.

Since DF took a nap this afternoon, hoping she’s still hanging out here.

DF posted a link to this article on the last thread:

I have to say that I hate charts — one more reason for me to bash the smarmy @EzraKlein (and his snooty wife) and Vox.

It’s so easy to skew the axes of charts so that an insignificant change looms like OMG!

I didn’t click on The Economist article this chart was based on, but they also included a map with the most conservative vs. liberal cities in each state. Hume CA is the most conservative — it has a population of… wait for it, 402 people — a drop in the bucket in a state with nearly 40 million residents.

And San Diego designated as one of the most liberal cities? Not on planet Earth. It’s more liberal now than when I grew up there but that provincial city can in no way be described as liberal — so much Navy and Marine veterans, so much greedy wealth. Consider that the city itself is surrounded by congressional representation to the north by Darrell Issa and to the East by Duncan Hunter Jr.

I’m here:) It was more mean for “entertainment value” than anything of real value….the fact that PHX was left of center cracked me up…Maybe in someone’s dreams, or if its true, then those people need to be the one’s voting, not the crazy, scared old people! (Sorry to all the old people that aren’t nuts. Really. I know there are many of you out there…but you know what I’m talking about, too!)
As far as San Diego’s concerned, I lived in Coronado. Nothing about San Diego is liberal, unless it’s changed for the better from the many years ago I lived there:) Beautiful city…but definitely not a liberal one.

        Yep, agree completely.

Could not wait to leave San Diego — and in my opinion, their traffic now is horrendous. I know that LA traffic is a nightmare — I try to travel through it during off-peak times, or avoid the freeways.

I felt like I was living in the scenario that Arlo Guthrie painted in Alice’s Restaurant in my daily life — my student teachers were ex-military, as were most of my friends’ parents. And this during the height of the Vietnam War, so yeah, San Diego was not my cup of tea at all.

    The REAL takers.

About $59 billion is spent on traditional social welfare programs. $92 billion is spent on corporate subsidies. So, the government spent 50% more on corporate welfare than it did on food stamps and housing assistance in 2006.

He might be amazed to find out what is his shareholders view on this. I am a shareholder & I want the companies I have an interest in to treat their employees well. A company performs best when the employees, the executives and the shareholders share in the growth and the rewards.

“Now is the time for Ukrainian society and the political establishment to demonstrate its maturity and unity in the will to save the country and win the insanely difficult contest. Because now the enemy will do anything and everything to politically destabilize Ukraine and to establish a process of decentralization. It is in Putin’s interest to bring Ukraine to her knees and to declare Ukraine a loser country unable to negotiate or govern. This is the primary goal of the Kremlin and the separatists. And they will work hard at exaggerating the hysteria within Ukraine that Ukraine has sold out and was thrown to the wolves.

What should we do? We should do what the Georgians did in 2008. All the political parties in Georgia, be they parliamentary parties or extra-parliamentary parties gave President Saakashvili their full support and vowed to refrain from criticism and any kind of actions that might undermine the country’s statehood in a time of war. It was only because the Georgians took those steps that the conflict lasted all of five days and economic recovery progressed astoundingly fast. The enemy had miscalculated and instead of exploiting a hoped for discord the Georgians became more united than they had ever been before. Criticism and analysis will have its place later after the danger has passed.

I hope we can demonstrate that we are a wise people, that awe are a strong-willed and strong-spirited people. I, too, am dissatisfied with many issues, I do not believe Russia will fulfill its obligations and I can argue and criticize many points. But I will refrain. Right now we need to act differently.”

“Odetta Holmes – one of the most influential singers of the 20th century – is rediscovered as renowned Ailey dancer Matthew Rushing marries soul-stirring movement to songs by the artist anointed “the queen of American folk music” by Martin Luther King, Jr.

Rushing’s world premiere for Ailey pays tribute to Holmes’s life as a singer, songwriter, actress, and civil rights activist. With a musical repertoire encompassing American folk music, blues, jazz, and spirituals, Odetta influenced many key figures of the 1960s folk-revival scene including Bob Dylan, Joan Baez, Mavis Staples, and Janis Joplin. Her song “Take This Hammer” was included on TIME magazine’s list of the All-Time 100 Songs. When President Clinton honored Odetta at the White House with the National Medal of Arts and Humanities, he remarked, “Odetta reminds us all that songs have the power to change the heart and change the world.”

With projections by artist Stephen Alcorn, ODETTA is Matthew Rushing’s third ballet created for Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater following Acceptance In Surrender (2005), a collaboration with Hope Boykin and Abdur Rahim-Jackson, and Uptown (2010), a celebration of the Harlem Renaissance.”

Article contains Spotify links to the songs too.

You describe her well – cannot believe so many would vote for her! Yikes. And they refused her a recount. We have government funding for our elections. Pauline lives on the proceeds. She stands in all elections – multiple states & always gets enough votes to get funding.

Meanwhile – Abbott is surely an insecure wimp. He fired the govt whip because he didn’t stop the back benchers from calling for a vote against him (Abbott). He will not lead this government to the next election – unless he calls a double dissolution in the next month or so.
