Interesting article amk, This is kind of surprising, seeing as how our POTUS & FLOTUS were just welcomed to India not too long ago, with Modi presiding. What will this do for the agreements that were signed with the U.S.? My mind is already working ahead.

Nah, this is just a state election. Modi will be there for another 5 years (unless his own party’s lunatic fringe topples him).

He better start listening to people instead of 1%’ers. His recent ‘executive order’ on forceful land acquisition on behalf of 1%’ers will backfire on him big time.

Just read the post at The Peoples View. one of the commenters posted and article written by Henry Wallance in 1944 about American Facisim(sp) really a good read. I think Pittodaddy posted it on his comment.

Morning, sleepyhead Chips:) We were going to send in the troops to wake you soon and make sure that all was fine! By troops, I mean those lovely firefighters/EMT’s you posted for me a while back…you know the ones:)

And this is a MUST READ…the facts of American Fascism. Is is here. Now. This was written in 1944, but some things never change.

The American fascists are most easily recognized by their deliberate perversion of truth and fact. Their newspapers and propaganda carefully cultivate every fissure of disunity, every crack in the common front against fascism. They use every opportunity to impugn democracy. They use isolationism as a slogan to conceal their own selfish imperialism. They cultivate hate and distrust of both Britain and Russia. They claim to be super-patriots, but they would destroy every liberty guaranteed by the Constitution. They demand free enterprise, but are the spokesmen for monopoly and vested interest. Their final objective toward which all their deceit is directed is to capture political power so that, using the power of the state and the power of the market simultaneously, they may keep the common man in eternal subjection.

One more. Then read the entire thing:)

Democracy to crush fascism internally must demonstrate its capacity to “make the trains run on time.” It must develop the ability to keep people fully employed and at the same time balance the budget. It must put human beings first and dollars second. It must appeal to reason and decency and not to violence and deceit. We must not tolerate oppressive government or industrial oligarchy in the form of monopolies and cartels. As long as scientific research and inventive ingenuity outran our ability to devise social mechanisms to raise the living standards of the people, we may expect the liberal potential of the United States to increase. If this liberal potential is properly channeled, we may expect the area of freedom of the United States to increase. The problem is to spend up our rate of social invention in the service of the welfare of all the people.

I believe President Obama will return to community organizing when he leaves the White House to pursue projects like this and My Brother’s Keeper along with FLOTUS’ Reach Higher program. I think he will use his email list to recruit volunteers into this kind of service to continue his legacy of serving others in need. Just my hunch but I do believe that it’s in his heart to continue this work.

      • February 10, 2015 at 9:34 am

I think you’re right meta. Unlike some others who shall remain nameless at the moment, PBO is not going to use his post-Presidency to greedily seek more fame and fortune for himself (even though he will naturally attract more domestic AND global attention just for who he is). Instead he’s going to leverage his gravitas towards lifting up those who ordinarily do not have a voice.

        • February 10, 2015 at 10:40 am

Yes, exactly. I know he’ll write another book of his memoirs and maybe others and will be sure his family is financially secure way into the future but I do believe he’ll devote his time and energy into directing money and resources to underserved communities, especially the youth and the elderly. And he will work to make darn sure his presidential library reflects these values. I will be right there beside him to support all these efforts if they do materialize.

Congratulations, amk. I was excited along with you to see the returns come in. A toast to better days in India.

I am bathing in India’s past these days. Re-watching a 30 year old BBC production of Jewel in the Crown (13 episodes one per week) which is about the last days of The Raj. Stunning 30 years ago and just as riveting now.
At Carolyns suggestion I am reading The Far Pavillions which is a lengthy saga of India during the 1800’s.

Add in PBO’s trip and you, and it is an India fest in lower Manhattan.

Israel’s largest circulating ACTUAL newspaper is Yediot Aharonot and it suggested this morning that “Bibi is a paranoic requiring hospitalization.”

Actual because it has paid trained journalists and the public pays for the paper.

The Largest newsy publication is Israel Hayom published free and is propaganda paid for entirely by Sheldon Adelson. It gets the largest distribution because it is Free and well circulated.

Mississippi couple asks FBI for help after cops allegedly point guns at autistic 6-year-old son

    09 Feb 2015 at 20:38 ET

A Jackson, Mississippi couple is seeking federal help after local police allegedly drew their guns at their 6-year-old autistic son, WBRC-TV reported.

Angela Thompson Roby said the incident happened while officers from the Ridgeland Police Department were executing a search warrant on Friday against her 23-year-old brother, Carneigio Gray, inside their mother’s home.

“My son was telling the police officers to stop, to not do that, please don’t hurt his uncle,” she told WBRC. “That’s when the guns were drawn on him and my mother was telling them, ‘Hey please don’t point your gun at my grandbaby. Please don’t do that.’”

Family asks cops to check on 74-year-old vet after surgery, and they break in and kill him

    David Edwards
    09 Feb 2015 at 10:57 ET

State officials in North Carolina have launched an investigation after a police officer in Gastonia shot and killed a 74-year-old man while performing a welfare check.

Gastonia police Chief Robert Helton explained at a press conference on Sunday that a family member had asked officers to check on James Howard Allen on Saturday afternoon, The Charlotte Observer reported.

Helton said that Allen’s family had asked for the welfare check because the 74-year-old veteran had recently undergone surgery.

An officer first visited Allen’s home at 10:20 p.m. on Saturday, but there was no answer.

Gastonia police then contacted the Gastonia Fire Department and Gaston Emergency Medical Services at 11:30 p.m. and a “decision was made to enter the house, concerned that he may be inside in need of emergency assistance,” Helton said

GM Todville. Unlike someone we all know and love, I did not oversleep this morning. Quite the opposite. Our youngest grandson had his first birthday party last Saturday. Among the 70 some people there were my oldest son, his wife and their 4 kids, who stayed at our house. They are leaving today. Well, at 4:45 this morning we awakened to the sound of retching coming form the bathroom. It was their second oldest boy who then proceeded to have a severe case of diarrhea.
After getting him settled, I noticed the oldest son in another room with a bucket on his lap (you know why).
At that point I said might as well get up. Didn’t want to disturb my son or his wife as they have a long drive today, so, since my wife still is limited in what she can do, I handled the early cleanup. My son finally got up to take care of things and I was able to get ready for work.
Got here and immediately got barraged with stuff and just now got a chance to look into here, to find out our fearless leader decided to sleep in.

    • February 10, 2015 at 9:57 am

🙂 Oh heck Japa, I most certainly had a more restful time of it than you, what an ordeal! And then you had to go to work. I feel weak/exhausted at the thoughts of it. I hope you get through the day, and catch up on all that lost sleep later (I can highly recommend long snoozes, they’re exquisite))
