Given the US electorate, as gullible as it is, and so enamored of quick-fixes, nothing is for certain.

The key thing left out of this analysis, NCLB, is that the US media was not controlled by five hostile corporations in FDR’s time. Yes, he had extensive criticism but it wasn’t the 24/7 viciousness aimed at distorting truth and propagandizing the electorate. And FDR was a “white” member of the privileged elite, not a history making Black president. The fact that our president has broken through and delivered his message over, around and under the traditional media is a tribute to his political genius and his brilliance as a communicator.

IMO, when any white reporter/journalist makes a comparison of President Obama to previous white Presidents (no matter the party) and fail to acknowledge the extent in which, racism is a major party of the opposition to President Obama even within the Democratic Party; they should be treated with hostility and distrust. So spare me the BS, please.

    Good morning folks. Congrats NCLB!

Morning all. So much happening today with the Merkel visit. I hope PBO talks her into a firmer stance on Putin. He’s insane and out of control and he feels invulnerable right now. The pushback against him has to be hard and united.

At least it’s a goal, which is more than Nigerian authorities had before. Just letting things happen is not a strategy. Maybe now, they’ll get it together and fight this scourge.

Sadly, the Jewish families that emigrate from France will find little peace in Israel. I can’t see a bright future for them there.

Last night as I watched the Grammys I realized I’m an old coot. I thought I would be able to see it coming but sadly I wasn’t, It snuck up on me like Seal Team Six snuck up on bin laden. It wasn’t any particular song or artist, it was the fact that none of the music appealed to me, the only person I recognized from last night was Paul McCartney. Then I started thinking about “Live and Let Die”, it wasn’t a pretty sight.

Samsung is warning customers to avoid discussing personal information in front of their smart television set.

The warning applies to TV viewers who control their Samsung Smart TV using its voice activation feature.

Such TV sets ‘listen’ to every conversation held in front of them and may share any details they hear with Samsung or third parties, it said.

Privacy campaigners said the technology smacked of the telescreens, in George Orwell’s 1984, which spied on citizens.

    fucking orwell was a genius.

Oh, for heaven’s sake. What does Samsung or any third parties want to know about boring, tedious family issues. People who own these devices should have an off button to disconnect them.

Before he does that, I wish I could deploy troops against him for the offensive and right down crazy things he says at time!

I said that long ago. From the very first time the T-baggers attacked religion or showed its intolerance against other people’s religion (The building of the Mosque in Wall Street area in NYC).

You know, I love love love my President because he is well read. He always discusses his current policies in terms of their historical context. He has inspired me to read history books and to gain greater insight into our former Presidencies and how they shaped the world he currently has to deal with.

South Korea’s former spy chief has been sentenced to three years in jail for trying to influence the results of the 2012 presidential election.

Won Sei-hoon, who headed the National Intelligence Service (NIS) until 2013, was found guilty of violating election laws.

He was convicted of directing NIS agents to conduct an online smear campaign against the rivals of current President, Park Guen-hye.

Won was immediately taken into custody.

Under South Korean law, NIS agents are required to remain politically neutral.

Imagine how many new prisons would have to be built if the US had such a law and enforced it. The number would be staggering in every state.

The Vox interviews give POTUS a chance to demonstrate his facility and brilliance with a broad range of topics and issues. Just stunning.

Although Ezra Klein can be a punk who gets on our nerves more often than not, he pulled this off very well. I do find the music running during the conversation to be off-putting but overall, a great, even innovative, job.
