I painted a wall today for the first time, like, ever. It was only a small wall, but it took me about 12 hours, and, needless to say, there was as much paint on me as it in the end. Still, a proud day.
Please leave your congratulations here —->
Hello?
PLEASE LEAVE YOUR CONGRATULATIONS HERE —–>
Pffft….
Congratulations on your magnificent achievement. We can only aspire to your greatness Ms. Chippy!
Walls are easy – come back when you have painted a ceiling – that takes forever and a day
LOL
Show us a picture of your paint splattered face 😄
We are so uncannily alike in certain accomplishments; makes me proud! 😉 😉 When I painted the hallway I messed up the drop cloths, wrecked an old sheet, as well as my clothing, AND took days to get the job done. We won’t mention the paint that found its way all over the ungloved portions of my hands. When I did the front door, friends who dropped by afterwards asked who messed up the door – really annoyed me. My girl cousin repainted for me, changed the colour scheme, didn’t need drop cloths, didn’t spill on herself or the floor and garnered lots of compliments (for me). She also covered much more ground than I had, and did it in one day. Of course, after my confrontation with both end results I no longer pretend I can paint. Now when painting (or any other handyperson work) needs to be done I pay a painter or a handyman. It’s far less hassle and the results far more rewarding!
Congrats on your proud accomplishments, CC, and if anyone dares to criticize the streaks of paint that are evident in certain spots let them know that those were intended – you were creatively adding texture to the wall, your artistic signature so to speak.
😆 Thank you VC, I will DEFINITELY use the “artistic signature” line!
The only problem is that I patted Danny a few times during the procedure, so he now looks like this:
Patted? smh You can admit the truth here – looks like you knocked 1/4 can of paint or more on the lad.
LOL
congrats, here is your prize.
Whoop!! Whoop!!! I once painted the upstairs of my old house, 9ft ceilings, 3 bedrooms, bathroom and kitchen, after scraping, sanding, washing and priming.. 2 coats. 1200 sq ft. But it took me 2 1/2 months, so YOU rocked it!! Congratulations!!
Congratulations, Chips! I’m so very proud of you!
Congratulations Chips ~ Proud of your achievement 🙂
As always, utterly fabulous NW! Thank you!

Her statement is fantastic. No “weasly”words – just the facts.
Here’s McCollum’s full statement:
“As a Member of Congress, the national security interests of the United States are my highest priority. So, I find it very disturbing when a foreign leader in the midst of a campaign for re-election is allowed to address Congress for the sole purpose of undermining a foreign policy priority shared by the Obama administration and our European allies to score political points at home.
In my view Mr. Netanyahu’s speech before Congress is nothing more than a campaign event hosted by Speaker Boehner and paid for by the American people. Mr. Netanyahu’s re-election campaign is not my concern, but politicizing and damaging the U.S.-Israeli relationship by aligning his government with Republicans in Congress against President Obama is something I completely reject.
For these reasons, I will not be attending his address to a joint session of Congress next month.”
come on tweeps, tweet her and thank her. call out the dnc, dccc and all other d crap.
Yes, yes! Serving proudly in Minnesota’s 4th district not too far from the Creepy Crazy Bachmann who quit.
Very eloquently and directly stated.
#FreeSavchenko
“On the 59th day of Nadiya Savchenko’s indefinite hunger strike, prominent Russian writers, actors and others have initiated an appeal on Novaya Gazeta for her release from custody, warning that otherwise she will soon die.
The signatories draw President Vladimir Putin’s attention to the fact that Nadiya Savchenko, a Ukrainian national, has been on indefinite hunger strike since Dec 15 [in fact, since Dec 13] “in protest at her abduction from Ukraine and detention in Russia. Her health and very life are in danger. A few days more and she will die”.
This is despite the fact, they stress, that the grounds for the charges against Savchenko have not been proven. “Her defence lawyers have proof that she is not implicated in the death of Russian journalists from mortar shelling near Luhansk. Savchenko has a cast-iron alibi: she had been taken prisoner by separatists far earlier than when the shelling began. This proof has not been refuted by the investigators who have not yet examined the documents presented by the defence.
On Jan 25, 2015, a second, manifestly absurd, charge was added: Savchenko is now also accused of “illegally crossing the border” although she was taken to Russian territory by force and under convoy”.”
Savchenko could well be Putin’s ‘Jordanian Pilot’ …..
Ouch …. not quite that warm …….
well, she she should have been more specific then.
Hmmmmmmmmmmmm, so it’s a ‘she’ ……. you really do live dangerously ……. 😉
I love this!

counting has started in delhi polls. aam aadmi party beating the crap out of bjp thus far.
NW – The robot vacuum and all the other tweets are fabulous!
The wording in this one ~ “with more class than I even knew existed” ~ says it all about every category imaginable relating to how President Obama handles himself, all the freaking time:
“I am going to weep real tears the day PBO leaves office. 8 years of owning every critic in sight with more class than I even knew existed.”
The coolest pol ever, pun intended.
looks like aap will win more than 2/3rds of the seats. #landslide for a frigging party that wasn’t even there two years back. last time, the delhites gave a fractured mandate (with no party getting the majority though bjp was at the top). This time it’s a total mandate with excellent record turnout. It’ll be interesting to see what kejriwal does with it.
I guess President Obama’s visit had coattails…
now it has gone up to 3/4th of the seats. It may even touch 80%. Amazing wave election.
Here’s a tweet for the funnies post (most of which sail right over my head):
LOL.
amazing result. if people wanted change, they need to fucking vote. here is the proof.
it so happens it is the youth vote that made this happen. 🙂
hot daymn
hot, hot, daymner.
They did well – ours is a mess 42:44 – 3 others and one seat may need a new vote – Some seats had 20% swing and still didn’t change hands – the 47% are alive and well in Queensland.
they’re still counting?
Today is the last day for postal votes to arrive – minimal to count but it seems they need days for the final counts – the result however is assured – other than the courts deciding whether one seat will have the election voided. One of the minor party candidates was not eligible to stand – he signed a form to the contrary. Sigh.
I just read this gem from our abc
“A BJP spokesman said the results were not a sign of anti-Modi sentiment and that the election had been fought on local issues, including pledges for lower utility bills and countering corruption.”
Same as our feds – they say the result has nothing to do with them – hahahaha. We have now had 2 states back to labor & NSW will be next. There will be another attempt to remove Abbott soon – big fail – also too – very embarrassing.
the bjp are not gracious in losing. their talking heads need to listen to how the aap talking heads handle, who are more sophisticated and are not gloating.
bjp bs. They put modi front & square and campaigned on his govt achievements, whatever they may be. They put his face on the front page of every newspaper just before the elections spending lotsa govt money in the process. And the delhites said FU to him and his party.
Bobfr posted a youtube last night of Annie Lennox’s performance at the Grammys, and it’s worth watching to see her show the young ‘uns how it’s done:
G’Night, one and all! May you sleep the sleep of the just!
okay Nerdy those last tweets were very funny, thank you!
You’re welcome, Sherijr.
good night TOD
Well done, Bob. And goodnight to you.
Talk about political speak – read this and weep – Kevin Andrews is our defense minister. This happened AFTER Abbott said his government would “make no more bungles”. The full story can be read here
http://www.abc.net.au/news/2015-02-10/crabb-good-government-offers-few-tender-mercies/6083556
but this little excerpt is a three word delight – competitive evaluation process.
REPORTER: Just a yes or no, is it a tender process or not?
ANDREWS: I will use the words I choose to use. What we are doing is a competitive evaluation process. We have to evaluate this, we have to do it in a way which is methodical, cautious, that is, a process that goes forward into the future and obviously there has to be a competitive element to that.
REPORTER: But it’s not a tender process?
ANDREWS: It’s a competitive evaluation process.
REPORTER: Why did Sean Edwards say it was a tender process and he was mouthing the words of the PM?
ANDREWS: There were various reports in the media using all sorts of different words.
REPORTER: That’s what he said.
ANDREWS: I am the Defence Minister. I am deciding the way in which we go forward with this and the way which we’re going forward with this is a competitive evaluation process.
REPORTER: What have you actually promised today that is any different from what has been promised or not promised here before?
ANDREWS: Well, as the new Defence Minister I have spent the last few weeks looking at this in detail and decided the way in which we should go forward with this, particularly following my last visit here to Adelaide, was to ensure that there is an evaluation process and one which is competitive.
REPORTER: Just confirming what Sean Edwards said on Sunday about an open tender process is incorrect?
ANDREWS: I’m not a commentator. What I’m doing is saying to you, and to everybody who may be listening to me now, that the process that we are going to undertake is going to be a competitive evaluation process.
Voters’ valentine’s day gift to aap. They cleaned out 63% of the votes, up 34% and bjp lost 7% and congress 17%. A party that was born just two friggin’ years back.
#awesome. Well done, voters.
Kejriwal set to be CM with AAP-solute majority
ha, ha, ha.
CM? Chief Minister?
I need some educating on your political system amk – how many states do you have? Do you have Governors – and/or who is your head of state? We still have Governors – representing the Queen – but I’m thinking India is a republic – or do I have it wrong?
99ts – we have 29 states (with more demanding statehood by breaking up bigger states) for which elections are held every 5 years (or earlier if the previous govt fails the vote of confidence or if the ruling govt dissolves the assembly and calls for an earlier election). The party/coalition of parties which wins and can prove 50%+1 seats on the assembly floor becomes the ruling party. The chief minister is then elected/selected/appointed/anointed by the party/coalition.
The central govt appoints a governor (a limey legacy) for each state (or a group of states, usually a political lackey or a has been pol), who is a ceremonial head who has no real powers but can recommend to central govt to dismiss the state govt on grounds of serious corruption, civil unrest, mismanagement etc. The state govt reports to the governor and must seek his consent for all laws they pass before are enforced. So, the elected state govts. don’t try rub the gov the wrong way and try to get along.
Anyone can start a party here, even amk. 🙂
Danka – sounds very similar to ours – except the states appoint their own governors – usually someone they want to give a political thank you to. Only once has a Governor (actually the Governor General, being the Federal gov) dismissed a government – 1975 – much ado – the senate wouldn’t fund the government (Right wing party – sounds just like the US congress) so the GG dismissed and called elections. He was a scorned man for the rest of his term.
I think anyone can start a party here – but you have to sign up a minimum number of people (I think 500). I am bemused by the fact that people in the US register to a party – seems to take away the “secret” from a secret ballot. TOD is full of learning events – many thanks for your reply
#10000000bucks
Cannot be influencing the vote with $$$ – not allowed nononono
but, but … I need to start a party.
Yes, I too find it crazy in the so called oldest democracy, one has to register to a party to vote. Here you can register to a party but it means diddly squat on the voting day. Any one vote for any party or even nota (none of the above), a new feature added in the last year.
We have an informal way of voting for “none of the above” – called an informal vote & usually includes words written across the ballot paper telling politicians where they should be going or what they should be doing I used to work at the polls ($$$ well paid) and it provided some entertainment during the count. Another reason not to have electronic voting.
🙂 friggin aussies. We can also scribble on ballot paper but it will be discounted.
Well how on earth can you count “none of the above”?? Might as well tell the candidates what you think of them.
lol.
Morning everyone. She really IS a Jewell:)

SCOTTSDALE, AZ – Interior Secretary Sally Jewell is visiting with American Indian youth to get their thoughts on how federal policy can improve their lives.
The visits Tuesday to the Salt River Pima-Maricopa Indian Community and the Gila River reservation mark the start of a Native youth listening tour.
President Barack Obama has said his staff will hold the listening sessions throughout Indian Country this year.
I can’t recall any President in MY lifetime doing this….just sayin’
GM df – people are often known to live as designed by their name 🙂
So many things PBO has done that no other President has ever attempted. He is the only President I have seen being the President for all of the states and all of the people – regardless as to how they respond.
Good Evening? to you, 99ts! Oh, I agree wholeheartedly about this President! Quite a beautiful sight to see…not sure it will happen again in my lifetime. Sadly. In the meantime, we should appreciate and enjoy it while he tends to the whole of America:) I love him so:)
Df. PBO is unique among presidents in following his heart, rather than political expediency. Very few people understand the scope of his accomplishments, but history will regard him as one of the greatest of all time.
Morning, jackieg:) I feel like there is such disconnect about what this man has done in office, that when he’s spoken about in history books, people that lived during this Presidency and never paid attention or choice to listen to the BS, will say, ” I never knew he did this! I would have thanked him!”
Moooooooooorning!
