    Louis van Gaal is very stoney-faced on the Manchester United bench while one of his assistants sits there shadow boxing. “Do you reckon Floyd and Manny will get it on, boss?” “Just watch the game, will you.”

    Well, you have to experience it to believe it. here is my story.

    I spent the whole of this January away from work and visiting Kenya – family issues;

    By nature, I am not one of those who gives all the details that casual friends may need to know so I did not let my fellow co-workers know where I had gone, why and for how long;

    they had to guess that since I am of African descent I was away in Africa.

    this Tuesday I return to work as scheduled and I was surprised by being stopped by security at the door.

    I was informed by security personnel that I was being stopped because some of my co-workers had gone to Human Resources and told the HR that I have Ebola – true story – which I had been exposed to while in Africa.

    Per Security, I “HAD TOLD co-workers that my mother is a nurse and was working with Ebola patients”.

    As I result, I could not be let into the building until I had clearance.

    Suggested course of action: go home and call HR;

    you can’t imagine the anger and humiliation as I received this false claims. Needless to say, I immediately let security know that this is false and that whoever said that to HR was a malicious liar.

    any way I was left to return home.

    when HR got on the phone I had already lost my mind so I was very harsh with them.

    I told them:

    – I wanted the name(s) of the coworkers who made these false claims;

    – I had not communicated to anyone at work during my time away so how could anyone say “I told them” – blatant liars”

    – asked them if they even knew the country to which I had travelled (Kenya in East Africa) and how close it was to the Ebola epidemic (in West Africa) – of course these lying punks did not know even the country of my destination;

    – that Africa is not 1 country, rather it is 54 individual countries covering thousands of miles;

    – Yes my mother was a nurse but is also a retired 78 years old who was potentially suffering from cancer. so how could my ailing parents be in a position to treat any one with Ebola?

    – before I returned to the US, I had routine health screenings from 3 countries (including the US Feds). I asked them if as a company, they have more resources and methods to conduct better screening ;

    – they could have gathered more information by just contacting our State’s Department of Health – which is located just a few miles away;

    – courtesy demanded that they contact my immediate supervisor (who as a fellow immigrant knew where I had gone since I told him and he also knows something about Africa) and me before they made stupid decisions;

    – are they screening employees who had been to different states that currently have a measles outbreak or are they just fixated on epidemics prevalent in Africa;

    I hope no one has to go through this kind of crap again!

    • February 8, 2015 at 11:58 am

      THIS IS ILLEGAL. Not to mention horrifically brutal behavior on the part of your employer and employees. I’m so sorry to hear this, africa. I hope you have some recourse with those who perpetrated this.

      Smells like a pretty good lawsuit you got there. I am so sorry that you work with such ignorant stupid people. I would contact a lawyer that specializes in employee discrimination.

    • February 8, 2015 at 12:08 pm

      This is some B.S. They’re harassing you over false rumors about having Ebola, yet they’re probably turning blind eyes to the many employees who have unvaccinated kids….

    First Nationwide Oil Worker Strike In 35 Years Spreads To Ohio, Indiana

    On Sunday, workers at two BP oil refineries in Ohio and Indiana walked out as part of a nationwide oil worker strike being led by the United Steelworkers Union (USW). Citing unfair labor practices and dangerous conditions, including leaks and explosions, the approximately 1,440 workers will join nearly 4,000 that began striking a week ago on February 1.

      If her foolish show has DUCK as AG’s name? Why ask him to Perform the Duck sound? AG didn’t make that name for himself. Ducks are not particularly smart animals/birds nor do humans use the word “Duck” as flattering reference.

    Five Juanita High School students were charged Friday with second-degree attempted rape of a special-education student.

    The five students, all of whom played football for the school, are accused of participating in a bullying incident in the boys locker room of the Kirkland school on Oct. 22, according to the King County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office.

    The four 15-year-olds and one 14-year-old were arrested in October in connection with a sexual-assault investigation.

    Court documents say an 18-year-old special-education student was lured into the shower area of the locker room, then held down by three of the boys, who pulled down his pants and underwear while another boy attempted to sodomize him with a broomstick. Witness accounts and text messages leading up to the event suggested the incident was planned.

    Multiple students witnessed the attack, which reportedly lasted about 30 seconds, according to court documents. Several students reported to Kirkland Police Department detectives that they saw one student recording the attack with his cellphone.

          Tulsi Gabbard appeared on Fox and Friends Friday, repeating her assertion that the Obama administration has made a mistake by not confronting Islamic extremism in an appropriate fashion.

          Gabbard, a military veteran who represents Hawaii’s 2nd Congressional District, told the program’s host that it’s “a basic principle” to understand the enemy.

          “In order to defeat your enemy you must first define them,” she said, explaining that without understanding what the enemy believes and what motivates them, Obama will not be able to come up with an effective strategy.

          http://www.civilbeat.com/2015/02/gabbard-obamas-remarks-on-crusades-not-relevant/

          I will be calling her office tomorrow.

          This is the last straw…..

          She lied about where she was when asked why she missed a Veteran’s meeting in Hawaii when she was really doing a surfing spread for People Magazine…..

          She lied about the incubation time for Ebola insisting that it is 40 days.

      Dudette,

      As I mentioned before, I don’t follow sports, did not know who Coach Dean Smith was before today, and am sad that I didn’t know about him before his death.

      It got me to thinking about Coach John Wooden (Bill Walton and I were classmates at UCLA, and was the star player at Helix High, which was part of my school district (meaning that our lousy team got to play against them a few times, with the pathetic scores of something like 109-32, LOL).

      There are so many good people from bloodred areas of the country (Coach Smith from KS, Coach Wooden from IN) who left this world a better and more fulfilled place by offering common sense and the lessons of respect to their students.

      What happened to that Midwestern core decency? Why was it replaced by greedy, ignorant RWNJs who offer nothing of benefit to others?

      Just too sad to contemplate.

      We’ll all be wrecks in January 2017, will find it difficult to see our keyboards through the tears.

      However, cannot wait to see what he and Michelle set off to do after being the best President ever.

      P.S. — Learned from R&S that PBO would be in your neck of the woods this week, and then it’s off to the Palm Springs area — I wonder if he’ll be joined by a world leader or two? Such good news for PBO — some quality time for uninterrupted golf in a gorgeous setting. Wish that our recent rain storm hadn’t been from a Pineapple Express, won’t be much snow on the San Jacinto mountains this week.

      Some of the most breathtaking vistas I’ve experienced have been returning from Phoenix in February — the snowcapped 11,000 ft mountains are gorgeous, in the crystal-clear desert air — and when you crest the hill on your way into Los Angeles, the freeway travels through the snow (not on the freeway itself, but on the mountain that you’re cresting).

      • February 8, 2015 at 2:04 pm

        Yes! It’s quite an exciting trip. He’ll be warmly greeted at Stanford and I look forward to his remarks.

    Despite an all-star forward line, Manchester United had to rely on a last-gasp goal from Daley Blind to rescue them a point at West Ham. But just how much did some of United’s attacking stars earn for their efforts today? Our wages calculator has the answers (although you may not like them)…

    Angel Di Maria is about £2,500 better off after the 90 minutes at Upton Park, Radamel Falcao will be taking home roughly £2,400 for his efforts today, while Wayne Rooney has pocketed approximately £2,600.

    really bummed about coach dean smith’s passing. one of the good ones. he didn’t care if his liberalism would cause any problems for him professionally, and worked for peace and justice his whole life, as the bible taught him to do. of course, he was so successful as a coach that even nutjob republicans would leave him alone. we could use many more dean smiths in the future.
