          Thanks Bob! 🙂

He did you see AG Holder’s interview with MHP this morning. Before she ruined it with the ignorance with the quack like a duck request, she asked him what he’d be doing when he steps down. He mentioned taking a nice long rest (much deserved of course) and that he’s thinking about maybe working on some kind of “justice and reconciliation” effort in the future. I thought of your tweets immediately!

          • February 8, 2015 at 4:43 pm

Thank you Dudette. I have not had time to listen to the interview, but would not be in any way surprised that AG Holder would be interested in pursuing ‘justice and reconciliation’ given all he has already contributed to both.

Beautiful statement from this young woman. Libraries have expanded the minds and probably saved the emotional lives of millions of young people over the years. I’ve always felt happy in a library. Every book is a journey and a chance for an adventure.

I was a library nerd and aid from elementary school through my undergraduate years. Long before I could afford to build my own at home library, I too would trudge down the street carrying as many books as my skinny arms could hold. I loved everything about the library and it gave me so much; worlds to explore and solitude when I needed it (too many siblings and too much responsibility at home). At one time I thought about majoring in Library Science, but choose instead, Literature and Journalism. This allowed me to join my love of reading and writing with sharing both with others. I am always so outraged when communities, mine included, are so short-sighted that they would put Libraries on the chopping block because of budget concerns. Free societies require free libraries.

Nerdy, the beauty of your tweet gathering is that every one of them can lead us off into some new topic that’s intriguing, educational, funny and awesome. It’s a great, great skill to do this and one that very smart and dedicated teachers know instinctively. I don’t know what you’re career path is in life, but you have the capacity to influence and lead a lot of people. I hope it carries you very far.

A few years ago, I had the privilege of watching a presentation of the documentary, “Scarred Justice,” about the Orangeburg, SC massacre in 1968. There was a stunned silence after it was over and many were shocked by the stupidity, blundering and hatred that led to the killing of the three young men. Many in the audience wanted to believe that what happened in Orangeburg was “in the past,” but recent events have showed us that very little has changed in the intervening 47 years and much has actually gotten worse.

That tweet above with the picture from Scandal, about handing out resumes everywhere, reminded me:

I took my Mom to go see Kevin Costner and Octavia Spencer in Black or White yesteday. We both enjoyed the movie overal, but I was especially enamored with one standout character played by Mpho Koaho (you might have seen him on the TNT series “Falling Skies”), “Duvan” – a math tutor/all-around-whiz kid who comes in to help young Eloise, the little girl around which the movie is centered. Duvan often introduced himself to people with copies of his resume’ and papers he’d written on various topics. Sweet, adorable, erudite, goofy. Just like I ’em. I squealed with delight whenever he came on screen. 😀

Don’t know how many of you saw what I shared last night–what the president of a local Southern Baptist college said about being at the Prayer Breakfast. He wrote a wonderful commentary (on FB) in defense of the PO. I mentioned that all the comments were thoughtful/insightful, no negative or ugly comments. (And there’s been some added and that theme continues.) I want to share one of the comments.

Just another suggestion to make peace: 1) ACCEPT the PAST as PAST, learning from it & what not to do, 2) FORGIVE self/others. 3) LET IT GO, since cannot change PAST, only present, 4) MOVE ON–transformed and good. These are steps taught in anger management and lead to RECONCILIATION and peace.

Really? I thought he was losing… oh well.

Dratz – he won the vote of his parliamentary colleagues (ie like party members of congress) 61-39 – he will be more insufferable and there will be more calls to remove him. His popularity is at an all time low – poll shows his performance rating as 24% his party vs labor at 43-57.

His political party might want him – Australia does not. His only argument to be retained as PM was that we should not have change – it is bad for the party!

Election is due late next year (close to the US election) If he is still the PM his party will be resoundingly defeated – he will win his seat & probably resign. Our “right to rule” party guys get all upset when they are defeated at the polls.

I am watching cspan history and they are showing painting from the National Portrait Gallery…

This one is interesting. I think our President also has beautiful hands. This is FDR and his hands.

I’ve always noticed President Obama’s beautiful, strong, graceful hands. I had never seen a picture of FDR’s before….but they have the same characteristics. In fact, I think both FDR and PBO have the same quality of innate elegance and grace, which is so rare.

She handled it like Olivia Pope! She let Bob Simon know that she had always had the confidence and the skill to do a big movie. Did you see the look in her eyes when she brought up the so-called criticism by whites who thought that our stories and successes required white voices and white knights? It was on and she was ready for any bs. Certain white people in Simon’s age group still have not realized that A-A’s and other people of color the world over are through asking them for permission or validation. Women like Anna and Susan Rice and men like PBO and Eric Holder are their worst nightmare.

Bill Nye is proving once again why he’s everyone’s favorite bow-tie wearing scientist.

Michael de Groot is a 15-year-old with autism, who loves science and has a big goal.

“My dream is to work with Bill Nye one day in Pasadena, California, when I’m older,” the 15-year-old told WRIC.
