The final few days of the second ACA enrollment period are upon us. My OFA team is having a valentine-making party today to highlight an enrollment fair on 2/14 to be jointly sponsored by a coalition of community health partners and Planned Parenthood. We have been putting up posters about the fair at the hospital center where it will be held, businesses nearby, etc. I also took some flyers and valentines to Portland Playhouse where we saw a very interesting play called “How to Solve Poverty in 90 minutes.” It was very interactive and challenged the audience to learn something about the root causes of poverty and wrestle with how to donate $1,000 (from the ticket sales) to one entity that night that we thought had the best approach to mitigating poverty. By the end of the run, they will have given out $20,000 to Portland non-profits who are working with needy communities.

    Morning all.

Chelsea is winning, MCFC is losing, and DCPlod was so gutted by Tottenham beating Arsenal that she changed her name. It’s a good day in the neighborhood.

NYT has a snotty review of Axelrod’s new book a Believer. Draper predictably bashes it because he is not critical enough of the “mess” of the Presidency. Of course, he is the chronicler of the Bush presidency and the writer of puff pieces for the new “ascendant” libertarian movement. Typical of the NYT to assign the review to a hostile critic. It would appear that Axelrod’s is still a “believer,” as are all of us here at TOD.

Nice to see people somewhere using their voice. More people, especially women, the world over should do that.

So much fun! Jimmy Fallon would be fun as the featured guest at the WHCD, but Larry Wilmore would be even more awesome.
