Dear All Wannabees (looking at you Brian, Hillary), being in a war zone is not a joke, not something you use to misrepresent & enhance your bonafides. It’s death whistling at you every single millisecond. It’s Real.
And when the troops are there for all the wrong reasons – it is the media’s job to tell the whole truth – rather than make up s..t about themselves.
Thanks, Gazelle.

The Ukrainians have centuries of lessons upon which to draw. I expect that they will defeat Putin. Only issue is how many are going to perish in the process.
BTW, since the end of WWII all attempts to do what Putin is doing have failed.
“I am very happy to see you here in Brussels Mr Vice President.
As you remember, our last meeting took place in Warsaw. It was almost one year ago. You were assuring us, the Europeans, about the United States’ full support for Ukraine and for the whole of Europe in a critical moment, as on the very same day, Putin officially declared the annexation of Crimea.
Unfortunately today, as we are standing here, together again, the situation is even more dramatic than 11 months ago. And this is why, please allow me to start with my comments on Russia and Ukraine.
The situation in Ukraine is getting worse every day.
As close friends and partners, the European Union and the United States need to continue standing shoulder to shoulder, coordinate our efforts and uphold the pressure on Russia for as long as necessary.
We cannot accept any form of aggression, especially the aggression of one state against another.
We cannot compromise on Ukraine’s independence, sovereignty and territorial integrity. The European Union remains fully committed to continuing our support for the Ukrainians, helping them reform their country and become a modern, prosperous and democratic society.”
He gets it ….
Off I go…been a week:) See everyone in the morning…
#TruthAndReconciliation
If this Nation ever had the courage and dignity to learn its history and effect systemic changes that would eradicate poverty, for profit prisons, unjust treatment of POC, etc., then it could stand before the entirety of humanity and say NOTHING. Its ACTIONS would speak unambiguously, and without an ounce of hypocrisy, of our values in a way that every person on the planet would demand of their own societies.
So very true Bob
Beautifully stated, Bob.
Thank you Gail and Jacqueline.
good night TOD …
Perfectly stated, Bob. As long as the US is in denial about its past and its prejudices, it will never achieve its true potential as a world leader. We may have the best military and the most money, but we are morally flawed.

But, if not, let’s just say that Wisconsin (his state) is known for cheese production … and no doubt the tweet refers to his being a science denier … so when science deniers think of the moon, they still think it’s made of cheese … and there you have it. Wisconsinites who are fans of the Green Bay Packers took up the name Cheeseheads for themselves, originally used to mock them, but I prefer to call Ryan other names, and I won’t go into that.

Einstein at Starbucks, eh? I thought I saw Walt Disney once, in the ’60s, in Princeton, New Jersey, in a restaurant. I was a teenager and – not even on a dare, which I could blame it on now – walked up to the guy’s table, patted said guy on the shoulder, and he turned and said, “I know. I look just like Walt Disney.”

Hey, if you’re in Philly on President’s Day (Monday, Feb 16), checkout the National Liberty Museum
https://libertymuseum.org/calendar-of-events/celebrate-presidents-day-at-nlm/
This Presidents’ Day, come celebrate at the National Liberty Museum! We have several exhibits specifically related to our nation’s leaders, including a presidential portrait of all 43 American presidents standing side by side (shown right); a replica of Howard Chandler Christy’s famous oil painting, Signing of the Constitution; and an extensive collection of White House China. We’ll also have a Craft Corner where kids can create their very own presidential portrait.
They got this painting, see…
Bring your wall alive with 220 years of American history! This brilliant print takes you to the South lawn of the White House in Washington DC, as the first 43 Presidents of the United States pose together in a fantasy portrait. With amazing detail, each elected American President appears in the style of his era and with the attitude and characteristics best reflecting his personality. From Washington and his sword, to Lincoln and his top hat, to FDR and his cane, to Eisenhower and his confidence, to Clinton and his shmoozing, and so much more, it’s all here! This museum-quality work of art is perfect for home, office, classroom or campaign headquarters. (*Note: even though President Obama is considered #44, he is actually the 43rd man to serve the position. Grover Cleveland served non-consecutive terms and thus is considered #22 and #24)
From left to right: James Garfield, Grover Cleveland, Benjamin Harrison, Ulysses S. Grant, Andrew Johnson, Chester Arthur, Rutherford B. Hayes, William McKinley, Franklin D. Roosevelt, Herbert Hoover, Harry Truman, Dwight Eisenhower, Warren Harding, Calvin Coolidge, Theodore Roosevelt, Woodrow Wilson, William Henry Harrison, John Quincy Adams, Andrew Jackson, Martin Van Buren, Thomas Jefferson, James Monroe, George Washington, James Madison, John Adams, James Polk, Zachary Taylor, John Tyler, Franklin Pierce, Abraham Lincoln, James Buchanan, Millard Fillmore, Barack Obama, John F. Kennedy, Lyndon Johnson, Richard Nixon, George W. Bush, George H.W. Bush, Gerald Ford, Ronald Reagan, Bill Clinton, Jimmy Carter, William Howard Taft.
I’d like to see President Obama where George Washington is standing, and Clinton’s shmoozing is an embarrassment even in a poster, but other than that … nice!
🙂

Dudette, did you see the movie, Mr.Pip? With Hugh Laurie (House). Caught it on demand cable by accident & think you might find it interesting, arresting? Here’s the trailer:
.
Hey Gazelle! Wow, this looks like quite an amazing story. I hadn’t heard of this movie, but I’ll definitely check it out!
Thanks for the recommendation!
It slowly but surely draws you in & then you’re so hooked by the quiet richness of the characters.
See Chuck Dickens wrote this dope book that they made into a musical back in the day. It was about this little dude who ain’t had no mama and had all this stuff happened to him. Right? He got put in juvie, but them people there was straight trippin’, so he bounced. He made his way uptown and took up with this gang. They was teaching him how to steal and run from the po po. They had this old dude who ran scams, but he really worked for this other cat who was like this mad, mean mutha. So you see mean mofo’s woman took a likin’ to little dude and she didn’t wanna see lille dude end up a crook all his life. So she helped him hook up with some of his mama’s people. She didn’t make it (you guessed, that mean mofo did her in for crossing him, but the cops got him), but little dude got away, then everything thing was okay after that.
Hope I didn’t spoil the story for you! 😀
Some music from the musical. 🙂
This version never did much for me. I’ll take David Lean’s stunning 1948 version any day of the week.
So weird to see “Chuck” – never in the world was he known as Chuck. And what an amazing writer – I cried my way through many stories
Beautiful image. Thanks, Dudette.
