Morning all. Hope your day is a good one.

Good Morning Jackie, Chips and TOD family. Hope you all have a beautiful day!

Chips have you heard of anyone getting a “this site is dangerous” warning when they try to post on TOD through WP. This happened to me last night and I had to more or less “accept the consequences,” if I overrode WP and made TOD the exception. Any idea what’s going on with them?

    • February 4, 2015 at 7:43 am

Hiya Jackie, grrrr, yes, that’s been a problem again recently, other TODers have experienced it too. At first I thought it was just a TOD glitch, but it’s been happening at other sites too, so in my innocence I thought it would be fixed soon!

        February 4, 2015 at 7:48 am

Good to know I’m not alone. The warnings are so ‘dire’ I was afraid my newly repaired computer would blow up or have to go back in the shop again for a very expensive fix. Now that I’ve made TOD an ‘exception’ to their warnings, maybe it won’t happen again. Fingers crossed.

        • February 4, 2015 at 8:04 am

Ha, I was freaked when I first saw it too Jackie, it was like a warning you were about to enter hell!!

          • February 4, 2015 at 8:36 am

I have a different problem. All of a sudden (actually about two days ago), TOD is showing in mobile view on both my desktop and my laptop…doesn’t matter if I’m in IE, Firefox, or Chrome. Ironically, I can convert to the desktop view on my android phone and it works okay. That also means that some of the tools that I’ve become accustomed to — like the notifications and the reader — don’t work properly and the graphics are hit and miss.

Obviously, everyone is not having this problem, and for all I know I may be the only one. Do you know what may have changed in WP? I don’t have this issue on other websites. Does anyone know of an adjustment so that I can get my desktop view back?

Here’s another computer mystery: since we began our monthly newsletter, I’ve had a link to What Is Working as a place to get information on how to contact representatives. Yesterday one of our recipients said that clicking on WIW introduced a computer virus. We’re trying to figure out what went wrong. Anyone else have this problem?

          GM, JackieG.

Congrats on #1 this morning — how’s the weather in PA now that Punx..Phil (not even gonna try to spell that town) has seen his shadow?

While my main computer was getting its hard drive replaced a couple of weeks ago, I got that dire message from IE, and couldn’t figure out how to override. I switched to Google Chrome, which had an “advanced” button that allowed to accept the consequences of this nefarious site.

Knock on wood, haven’t seen that message since then.

Good morning Arapaho. It’s a balmy 22 degrees this morning and it looks as if this will be the warmest day for at least another week. IE showed itself to be my nemesis some years ago, so I long since abandoned it. I (or rather Mr. G) found a way to make an ‘exception’ for TOD that allowed me to bypass WP’s warning. I’m hoping this does the job.

              Good Morning JackieG.

I noticed that you are producing a newsletter. My hubby, who is also a Mr. G, is starting a newsletter next week. I wonder if you would be amenable to giving him some tips and direction? He’s an excellent writer and internet navigator so he’s not an absolute beginner. If you are ok with this, we go from there. I’ll put message up on the next thread just in case you miss it. Thanks!

Deb, I read that and thought it was hilarious. These presidential wannabes like Romney and Christie shouldn’t even try to earn foreign policy creds in England or anywhere else for that matter until they learn some basic interpersonal skills and empathy. Neither one of them has a sense of decorum or appropriateness in a country that values those qualities. I love to see them fall flat on their faces and this is without a language barrier.

Yeah. So was Jindhal’s trip. It too, was a disaster. These people have no class. Jindhal went over to London talking about “No-go zones” after even Fox news debunked it. Hmmmm.

You know that saying “can’t see the forest for the trees?” (meaning you get lost in the details and fail to consider the consequences of what you’re doing)

This is our MSM, bought and paid for by GOP/Comcast/Kochs who love the gossip associated with Presidential campaigns — they thrill when they uncover some inconsequential nonsense — like staff infighting during HRC’s campaign (though I still can’t unsee that smarmy, odious Mark Penn) and trump it as if it’s important to the future for everyday Americans.

What MSM willfully fail to see is how EMBARRASSING any GOP candidate would be on the world stage.

      Can you imagine?

Elegance shines in every.single.photograph of PBO and FLOTUS, even when they’re playing basketball, jumping rope, gardening, playing with Bo and Sunny, etc. That video of MO doing double-dutch jumprope is stunning — have never seen anyone look elegant while jumping rope, but amazingly she did.

Not only will we bid farewell to the best President in modern history in 2017, the White House will lose a good measure of elegance, which endears our global friends.

      Sigh.

        February 4, 2015 at 9:28 am

Arapaho, when I even consider what international relations will be like without PBO at the helm, I want to weep. Only Joe Biden will have the grace and sense to maintain PBO’s favorable image on the world stage. The Republicans are yahoos through and through and only the most boorish, self righteous and arrogant make it to the nomination. But no matter who it is, the US media will be well paid to hail “him” as the second coming. They will puff up whoever it is so that people will no longer believe their owns eyes and ears.

The saddest thing of all is that most people–even some Democrats–are complicit in the deception of the GOP/US media because many buy into it without question. They focus on the salacious details and lose sight of the larger picture. To me, this is focusing on the bark, rather than the tree, let alone the larger forest. If people were sophisticated enough to recognize the tree, they would be less gullible.

This is a reminder about the Jan-20-2009 Inauguration night of Barack Obama as President of the United States of America and GOP treasonous meeting to plot to destroy President Obama at the onset of the worst financial crisis since the 1929 great depression. Msm was complicitous in this treasonous act by…

IMO, the most dangerous people in this country is “not” the ignorant, nasty, racist, unpatriotic, lying RW neanderthals; it’s the naive one’s that you casually shake your head at in total disbelief of their naivety. They must be treated with hostility and distrust. Just saying.

Every time the GOP/USmedia perpetuates this false equivalency, it is money in their pocket. They have become rich on their deceptions and have NO incentive to stop. Journalistic integrity and truth telling are a joke to them and they probably laugh about it in late night sessions.

Morning! Happy Wednesday:) Stupid, offensive Mitt….

    Daily News (via TPM)

President Obama was shocked and irritated by Mitt Romney’s concession call in the 2012 presidential election – and claimed Romney insinuated that Obama won only by getting out the black vote, according to a new book by presidential campaign strategist David Axelrod.
Obama was “unsmiling during the call, and slightly irritated when it was over,” Axelrod writes.
The president hung up and said Romney admitted he was surprised at his own loss, Axelrod wrote.
“‘You really did a great job of getting the vote out in places like Cleveland and Milwaukee,’ in other words, black people,’” Obama said, paraphrasing Romney. “That’s what he thinks this was all about.”

Axelrod will be hawking his new book at the Philly Free Library next Wednesday; he’ll be “in conversation” with WaPo’s E.J. Dionne. Was on my scheduled, however, I now have a Dr. appt that conflicts…

    • February 4, 2015 at 8:44 am

The reactions of many of the key GOP players in the 2012 election — from Romney to Rove — were suspect. There was too much certainty on their part that Romney had won the election. I’m feeling like someone(s) didn’t get what they paid/contracted for. But 2008/2012 is an indication that the election can’t be bought *IF* people get out to vote.

Romney’s reaction also highlights their childish behavior when things don’t go their way. Can you imagine a working relationship between a Pres (gag) Romney and our foreign allies?

    • 40 jackiegrumbacher
      February 4, 2015 at 9:38 am

I hope that our President considered the source of this stupidity and was able to brush it off. First Romney is an ass who can’t make an intelligent connection between thought and mouth. Second, it’s a compliment that the President was able to turn out the urban vote through most of the US. It takes meticulous organizing and hard work, not to mention a stellar candidate, to achieve high turnout. Third, there was no ambiguity in our President’s win–it was a categorical home run with well over 50 percent of the vote. And finally, like many over privileged rich kids, Romney is a sore loser, which is a pretty despicable quality.

I followed the link and it led me to GOPolitico, so don’t bother! Here’s the gist:

Vice President Joe Biden won’t commit to attending Benjamin Netanyahu’s speech to a joint meeting of Congress next month.
    He’s not the only one.

Dozens of House Democrats are privately threatening to skip the March 3 address, according to lawmakers and aides, in what’s become the lowest point of a relationship between the Israeli prime minister and President Barack Obama that’s never been good.
Democrats have had to balance publicly supporting Israel with backing Obama, who’s trying to close a deal with Iran to curb its nuclear programs over vehement opposition from Netanyahu, who has expressed concerns that the U.S. president is being naive.

GM all. Another beautiful winter day. Another day of seeing the GOP make fools of themselves. The only problem with them doing so is that the only thing keeping them from turning this country into a complete disaster is our President.

I hope when the next Den President is elected and also has a solidly Dem Congress and gets lots of things accomplished, PBO gets credit for not only what he did accomplish but also for what he prevented from happening.
