I feel for the Seahawks fans. What a tough way to lose that game. That will be talk about forever, how the Seahawks blew that game

By the way, who saw the halftime performance? Was it any good?

I like Katy Perry but her halftime show was an atrocity.

Thank goodness for Missy Elliott. She saved that hot mess.

Appreciate Katy Perry’s strong support of our President. Missy Elliot was a surprise to me and for me, the best part of the show. Could have used a LOT more of Lenny Kravitz however. Can’t wait to hear the fallout from the “God is Black” commercial. LOL!

I enjoyed the half-time performance – entertaining all the way through. I loved seeing Missy Elliott – great memories!

Yes, all things that the scholars and saints and “holy” men have no explanation for. I was repeatedly told, “Don’t attempt to understand the mysteries of God. You must have faith for faith alone will save you.”

    Classy dude.

    • February 2, 2015 at 12:01 am

Richard Sherman is obviously a class act, and brilliant, as well.

As most of you know, I consider ‘football’ an abomination. But, I know the sport having played it, hard, in my early (stupid) years.

With that context, I could not imagine a more crystal clear message from the Seahawk’s coaching staff to Marshawn Lynch – specifically, FU & leave. No sandlot kiddie coach would have called that play with a dude like Marshawn as running back. 2nd down, 1 yd to goal and you pass – NEVER, EVER, EVER. Not going to bother tweeting it because it’s just not my thing ….

I heard a mention on one of the pregame shows that they were going to negotiate to keep him in Seattle the rest of his career. So someone’s not with the program.

Would they have blown the Super Bowl just to give Marshawn an FU? I don’t know…they’ve made some really dumb offensive calls this season, so this isn’t really an outlier. My sister’s been calling for the offensive coordinator’s head for a while.

        • February 2, 2015 at 2:16 am

Have no idea, Sandy, and as noted this just isn’t my domain of interest. However, someone has an agenda that is definitely not in the best interests of the Seahawks to have done something so fundamentally stupid. We’re not talking ‘arm chair’ quarterbacking here, we’re talking agenda.

I just am intolerant of agenda driven abuse, of any kind, and that’s the only reason I posted the comment.

Obama plans tax on US firms overseas to fix roads at home.

US President Barack Obama plans to close a tax loophole that allows US firms to avoid paying taxes on overseas profits, the White House says.

His 2016 budget will impose a one-off 14% tax on US profits stashed overseas, as well as a 19% tax on any future profits as they are earned.

The $238bn (£158bn) raised will be used to fund road projects in the US.

The proposal is one of the main components of Mr Obama’s latest budget, due to be presented on Monday.

Research firm Audit Analytics calculated last April that US firms in total have $2.1 trillion-worth of profits stashed abroad.

It found US conglomerate General Electric had the most profit stored overseas at $110bn. Tech giants Microsoft and Apple and drugs companies Pfizer and Merck all featured in the top five.

No tax is currently due on foreign profits as long as they are not brought into the United States.

As a result some companies put their earnings in low tax jurisdictions and simply leave them there.

After seeing the billionaire owner come down from his high, perfectly catered and temperature-controlled perch, to get interviews and accolades along with his lucky sperm club son who seems to have nepotistically taken some managerial role of the patriots, just as the multi-billionaire owner of the seahawks would’ve done had they won, can we all agree that the nonprofit, community-owned green bay packers are truly “america’s team?”

the packers are the only major pro team, in any sport, that is structured as a nonprofit. they’ve had one of the most storied histories in football, and were a couple fluke plays at the end of the seahawks game a couple weeks ago from being in today’s super bowl, and thus a great example of how a “profit motive” isn’t needed for success, as all republicans argue.

had the packers played and won today, there would’ve been no billionaire coming down to take the credit at the end and having people kiss their behinds. the green bay packers are truly the only team by and for “we, the people.” food for thought…

  18. February 2, 2015 at 1:35 am

Okay that game ending was CRAZEEE!

Hey, when my home team is not in it, I don’t really care which team wins (except I don’t like that Tom Brady dude, he just rubs me the wrong way, don’t know why exactly). Anyway, I was in a house full of Seahawks fans.
20 seconds to go and they could taste victory, but then… WTF?!! That was a messed up way to end the game.

Oh well. I liked how Richard Sherman congratulated Brady. Very classy.

    Loved some of the commercials.

Obscure reference here unless you’re into The Hunger Games movies,
Oh Lenny! … [sigh!]) Lawd ha mercy he was hot on stage tonight!

I didn’t think Katy’s performance was terrible, okay a bit of a predictable snooze and the flame dress was weird, and the live beach toys (whu?) but not terrible. Loved My Lenny out there with her and Missy Elliott ROCKED IT!

This was a very good commercial. I’m not sure why so many boys/”men” were against it. At the beginning, they didn’t just have men mimicking the “like a girl” stereotypes – they had women doing it, too. The message is for everyone. Great ad!
