      Hey Chips,
I was wondering if sometime later you might be able to splice and dice that to excerpt the last question about his legacy? CNN doesn’t have that as a separate video and I think it’s so awesome to be able to share that portion with your 22k of Twitter and blog followers. As I mentioned on the last thread about it http://theobamadiary.com/2015/02/01/chat-away-505/#comment-1254067 this is where he rightly takes credit for his Admin saving the US economy.

Ah, thanks for the heads-up Forus, I haven’t even had the chance to watch the interview yet, will do after eating (my day’s work is done!1!1!) and will then splice and dice! Thanks again.

Hi Forus. I just watched the clip above and it doesn’t include legacy issue.

What it did have is POTUS talking about how Putin has a state-owned media and control that pushes Putin’s agenda.
PBO says it is pumping up anti-American fever. With their leader all the way.

PBO has to thik it must be at least a little nice to have the media on your side instead of resolutely opposed to everything you say or don’t say—do or don’t do.

Thanks Vicki, I was thinking it was the whole interview but it’s just the Putin portion. It’s pretty interesting that he brings up the good relationship he had with Putin’s predecessor – the media has quickly forgotten that. Arghh, I wonder if Zakaria ever publishes the whole thing?

A glorious Super Bowl afternoon to everyone in TOD kingdom!

I must confess that I don’t fully understand the American football; although the more I watch it on television, the more a little of its logic unfolds (I think). However, from this beautiful corner of the Caribbean, I will be supporting the SeaHawks. I like the player who stands up fearlessly to the media: “I’m only here because I don’t want to be fined”.

Good Afternoon TODers. Delurking to ask a question. Is anyone else having problems with the WordPress graphics? I no longer get the banner at the top (or if I do it disappears when I refresh.) The background is white instead of black. Most of the avatars don’t show up . The sidebar is at the bottom of the page.

Is was there an update and is there something I need to do to get the graphics back?

Well said, RanMan. Savannah seems to have gotten her questions straight from Joe Scarborough. Her body language was as hostile as her stupid questions. These media jerks do not recognize that more people voted for Democrats in 2014 than Republicans. If not for gerrymandering, we would have a Democratic Congress.

  14. February 1, 2015 at 4:44 pm

folks are still upset that the president that did not come into the press conference with his head hanging low ….the question about PBO making proposals that the other side does not like..is interesting…instead of talking about the proposals and how they would help the American people… Gutherie lamblasts the President for making the proposals……as if he is the problem….

then tried to get him with a GOTCHA question…Clinton vs Biden?….come onnnnn

So I did something I have not done in SEVEN YEARS – turned on an interview with POTUS.. I stopped watching all news/pundits and interviews back during the first election season, due to the lies and the gd BS.

My son decided in Jan that I needed a teevee for New Years, so I turn on the Super Bowl pregame.. to see my most excellent President- and that stupid interview person pissed me off so bad I had to walk outside and miss the rest of the interview. Who the hell did she think she was talking to? Who the heck does she think she is? I know without a doubt that my President just tells it as it is, the facts.. but I literally wanted to physically smack that woman and her smug smirky assholery. ok, my rant. over. I truly applaud all of you who are able to sit through that crap and just hear POTUS.

She embarrassed herself……but I am not at all surprised. The tax cut question proves she is uninformed and just a mouthpiece of the media.

    Good afternoon TOD …

“Ms. Batiashvili tested that power last September, when she was invited to perform with the Rotterdam Philharmonic Orchestra led by Valery Gergiev. Mr. Gergiev has close ties to Russia’s president, Vladimir V. Putin, and had signed a letter endorsing his country’s annexation of Crimea. He had also thrown his weight behind Mr. Putin’s policies in 2008 in the conflict with Ms. Batiashvili’s native Georgia over the breakaway region of South Ossetia, where Russia has stationed soldiers.

Ms. Batiashvili, who has vowed not to perform in Russia, was conflicted: “I didn’t want to be part of this whole society of musicians who actually disagree with him totally about his position, about his support of Putin, but don’t ever say anything.” So she agreed to play in the concert but prepared a gesture of protest that was characteristically elegant. She commissioned an encore for solo violin from a Georgian composer, Igor Loboda, titled “Requiem for Ukraine,” which she performed after her concerto — as Mr. Gergiev stood in the wings.

In a telephone interview, Juliette Hurel, the principal flutist of the Rotterdam Philharmonic, recalled the performance as “really moving” and described a deep silence that settled over the auditorium. “When she spoke to the audience before playing, I could tell she was very emotional,” Ms. Hurel said. “I know her as a friend, and I saw she had to take a few deep breaths. Afterward, I said to her, ‘It is fantastic to have the courage to do that.’ ”

Ms. Batiashvili said that after the concert, Mr. Gergiev, “poker-faced,” invited her to dinner. She showed up late, finding him at ease, surrounded by friends, telling stories. He invited her to play with the orchestra of the Mariinsky Theater, of which he is the general and artistic director, she said. “I didn’t tell him no to his face,” she said. “Then two days later, I passed a message through my agent refusing.””

Thank you, Meta — was driving me crazy.

Shockingly, heard on the radio that last month was the first in recorded history that NO RAIN fell in San Francisco during a January!!!

I had no idea that the storms were avoiding NorCal because we’ve had two or three good (gentle, consistent) rains last month — our hillsides are green once again (for the first time in years) and I told JackieG this morning that the mustard is blooming as are most of the trees I see.

10-day forecast in SoCal is relentless sun (no rain) with highs in the 70s and 80s and nighttime lows alarming high — in the 50s/60s — just not right for February (our historic lows average in the 40s).

Very troubling that the Sierra is not getting the storms needed to replenish their live-sustaining snowpack. 😦

          • February 1, 2015 at 7:18 pm

It’s very warm and sunny here today. We got some forecasts for rain but it never came so January was completely dry. It’s pretty scary.

Agree with all the above commenters. OMG. And if all that wasn’t bad enough……………………………..
Her “tease” for the Today Show was that she is going to ask him if ISIS is really as little a threat as he said it is in SOTU.

Did Savannah watch a different SOTU than me?

When did PBO indicate that that is little threat to us? What would prompt such a lie, since PBO asked the Senate to approve AUMF against ISIS?

ISIS uses horror as a marketing tool — what is Savannah talking about?

They just keep on attacking – for no reason other than presidenting while black. As for “your critics say” – not even honest that it is their own words – not anyone elses.

But …. the people of my state IGNORED the media last election – the RW media supported our RWNJ Premier every step of the way – and he lost. PBO won 2 terms – the media may win the minor skirmishes but well lost the war.

I was reading a few comments over at MSNBC were some person call the Obamas elitist, these people hate to see black folks with confidence in themselves, they wouldn’t have any problem if it was a white person. Look at how Chris Christie is, how he talk down to people. Imagine Barack or Michelle talking to someone like that. They didn’t like that this President didn’t go into the SOTU bowing down to those right wing racists tea party Republicans.

OMFG, can’t believe Savannah Guthrie — she said PBO was “cocky?” He’s the Leader of the Free World, the President of the United States, the Commander-in-Chief of the US Armed Forces. JHC, what a bitch — and she gets paid and fawned over for such #WhitePrivilege condescension.
