    The idiotic parents who won’t vaccinate should be forcibly educated on the matter.
    I would show them videos of small children in iron lungs back in the 1950’s for example. The many kids in leg braces after the polio virus hurt them.

    Thanks to vaccination, polio has been wiped out. So were measles and whooping cough.
    Until now. I heard today that at least 3 young people in NY are hospitailzed with measles. SMH

    We are the dumbest country imaginable. Is that what the GOP means by “exceptional” or whatever it is they say meaning whites are better.

      According to the article, measles outbreaks was pretty much eliminated about 15 years ago and now it’s back with a vengeance. One would think these anti-vaxxers would connect their life endangering choices with these new cases. But nooooooo….they prefer to live in denial and damn everyone else.

        One woman actually said on the news yesterday, that she wanted to know exactly what’s in the vaccination before it’s given to her child. Like she’s gonna understand it all. 😯

    So I can now celebrate our amazing state election result – after a massive turn right 3 years ago – no-one liked the result – so an equally massive turn left – thank you people of my state.

        Not yet – 43 – because of the preferential voting system – AND postal votes have 10 days to arrive! may not know for weeks. THe current Premier – who lost his seat – has decided he can be the “caretaker” until the results are known – sigh. He’s ranting as to how good he was!

            The workers at the booths only count on election night. Goes back to the returning officer for each district for the postals, specials and then distribution of preferences. They probably aren’t working today (Sunday)

    The DNC is working hard to raise funds…however one of the lessons of the midterms are the lost votes because of voter suppression….they have yet to address this..or to even acknowledge its impact…

                      Today, I decided to pretend it was Feb. 1. You should have seen my son and granddaughter when I asked them to pick up some chocolate for me, when they went to the store. Both said no. When they came back, I asked if they’d gotten me at least one tiny candy bar, and they both said no. Then granddaughter handed me three Hershey candy bars.

                      And life is good. I made it to 30 days, and that was quite enough! I was also done with the exercise bike a week ago. So, we are riding high – or not – togethah! And March is another month and Spring will be then. Not now, since it’s to snow here tonight, while I’m eating my chocolate. ❤

                      I guess we were communicating just fine virtually re the actual exercise. 😀

                      Spring is certainly down the road a ways since my driveway is attesting to the fact ‘it’s truly winter, baby’. A friend showed up unexpectedly today, phoning me from the end of the driveway to say she was passing by to say ‘hi’ but won’t stop since she couldn’t make it in. 😀 I waved at her through the window.

    Chilean President Michelle Bachelet announces plans to end a total ban on abortions in the predominantly Roman Catholic country.

    Ms Bachelet has tabled a bill in Congress to legalise abortion in cases of rape or when there mother’s life to the mother’s or the baby’s life.

    Abortion is punishable in Chile by up to five years in jail.

    The absolute ban of abortion puts the lives of thousands of Chilean women at risk every year, said Ms Bachelet.

    She went on national television to announce the plans.

    “Facts have shown that the absolute criminalization of abortion has not stopped the practice,” she said.

    “This is a difficult situation and we must face it as a mature country.”

    The BBC’s Gideon Long says the draft law faces opposition from Chile’s powerful Catholic Church, from conservatives in Congress and from some inside Ms Bachelet’s own coalition, led by the Socialist Party.
