    Looks pretty cold out there. I’m happy to see POTUS has on a topcoat and a scarf around his neck. He needs a Russian fur hat for his head too!

    It’s been a minute since you were here.
    All is well?

    New Greek President has cited one of his main goals is to come down hard on wealthy tax avoiders.
    Cue the RW nuts calling him every name in the book.

    Concern trolling will also increase. Innocent sounding questions that really are slurs. My plan is to ignore slurs, hidden or otherwise. on TOD or anyplace else.
    Let’s see how President Tsipras does and then judge.

    Re: The photo above. That is the face that Governor Wolf showed to PBO during his campaign.
    Governor Wolf is the ONLY Democratic governatorial candidate that ousted a Republican in 2014.

    The distancing dems distanced themselves into a loss. (not all of them. Charlie Crist one exception. There were others.)

    I thought PBO’s opening acknowlegements told the true story. High praise and jokes for Democrats who have dedended our values, end of the obligatory list barely mentioning others.

    Oh my goodness…This no-nonsense speech from PBO was a thing of beauty. He basically called them out on their bullshit…don’t call yourself a Democrat and claim to be for the middle-class – YET – when it comes to defending sensible, AND successful Democratic accomplishments, you’re tongue-tied, defensive and ashamed all of a sudden.

    Believe me – this nice lil’ speech wasn’t just for the House Dems at that conference – it was for the DINOs in the Senate who are quick to join the GOP on their crappy votes (e.g., Keystone), and ALSO for certain Dem 2016 Presidential candidates who plan on trying to get votes from the Obama coalition (I’m looking at you Lady Walmart…)

    President Obama really socked it to the cowardly Dems! I APPLAUD HIM. Do hope that they remember this when they have to run for reelection. He said that he shares some of he blame for the MidTerm results. I disagree. HE WAS OUT THERE, in a sense, WORKING BY HIMSELF. He had little help from the Dems. Loved his speech.

    This is for Chips: Thanks for the pictureโ€ฆMy mayor, My governor, MY PRESIDENT. This one is a keeper. Thanks, again.

      busbus, I agree with you. President Obama knocked himself out during the mid-terms and shares zero percent of the blame.

  31. January 29, 2015 at 8:07 pm

    Nailed the lazy attitude of the Dems, imploring them to stand tall and be proud of their accomplishments, brag about them!!!!

      Gawd, what I wouldn’t give to be a fly on the wall when he’s in private with Michelle, talking about these wimps. OMG!!

      • January 29, 2015 at 8:17 pm

        Ha, yes! I would like to think his language would be decidedly fruity!

        Just loved this:

        When weโ€™re shy about what we care about, when weโ€™re defensive about what weโ€™ve accomplished, when we donโ€™t stand up straight and say:

        Yes we believe people in this country should have health insurance and weโ€™re glad that we are making that happen;

        Yes we believe that families shouldnโ€™t be torn apart, weโ€™re glad that weโ€™re fighting for immigration reform;

        Yes we believe in middle class economics, we donโ€™t apologise for wanting to make sure that
        some wonderful young man or young woman out there can actually afford to go to college, even if their parents didnโ€™t go.

        We need to stand up and go on offense and not be defensive about what we believe in.

        Thatโ€™s why weโ€™re Democrats.

        And I promise you, Iโ€™m not going out the last two years sitting in the sidelines, Iโ€™m going to be out there making the case every single day.

        I hope you join me.

    Power is, in many ways, a family business.

    You need only look at the looming prospect of (yet another) Bush-Clinton US presidential contest in 2016 to see that there must be something in the idea.

    And so it is in Saudi Arabia.

    congrats murka.

      Those Gordon Parks pictures are truly heart grabbing. What a story they tell…..and how powerfully. Thank you vc for posting that link. Good photography makes powerful heartfelt statements. Really grabs us.

      Chips……do take care of yourself. These colds this year seem to morph into something else if you do too much and don’t rest enough. We want you well, so please take life easy. Do you have enough tissue? I almost always use an entire box when I have a cold…..yuck!!!
