      TY hopefruit and taiping.

So a farewell to Hagel later today.
Now we need a speedy confirmation for new SecDef.

According to Carol Rosenberg, the Guantanamo reporter, Hagel told her he left no detainee transfers in the pipeline.
PBO has said he is interested in accelerating the process of freeing detainees who have been cleared for transfer.

So, if I understand this correctly, what we need is for Ash Carter to be confirmed and then submit name of detainees to be freed and relocated. This list goes to Congress.
Then, in 30 days the transfers can take place.

Greetings again to all you speedy TOD travelers, as well as to those joining us later! Somehow I don’t think FLOTUS will mind sharing her warm hug with you (just line right up behind Payal…. and me).

I just looked at them after I saw your tweet, Meta. Stunning, indeed. I was looking at the faces, reaction in those pictures, all happy people. Boy, those military acrobats are something else. Pete is a genius.

Yes, he does. He’s got a good eye. I can’t wait to see what he publishes after the White House. I wonder if he will remain on staff with PBO after they leave the White House!!

            I doubt it.

PBO’s schedule is grueling, but he doesn’t have to haul equipment and luggage like the honorable @PeteSouza does.

He’s no doubt ready to call his own shots, and to spend some much-deserved time with his recent bride.

He also needs some time to reflect and assemble his book(s) on the Age of Obama, which will sell out immediately. 🙂

I love this one of her, but I ❤ ❤ even more her flirtatious wave to PBO (because I know she doesn't know it's flirtatious)!

Also heartily ❤ the more recent flirtatious pic of the little girl looking at PBO sideways when he touches her cheek. Lovely, warm interaction!

Just occurred to me that these children must come from families where they are used to being loved, nurtured and accepted. They seem so confident in themselves as they reach out!

BBC News should increase both its local and global coverage and improve its digital services if it is to remain relevant, the corporation has said.

The BBC should “do more to provide local news that properly serves all parts of the UK”, according to a report titled The Future of News.

It should also reverse the trend for closures to World Service language operations, the report said.

That could include opening new stations for countries like North Korea.

BBC News director James Harding said the need for the corporation to keep the public informed in an “exciting, uneven and noisy internet age” was “greater than ever”.

“The BBC is going to have to think about how to deliver on its mission to inform beyond broadcasting,” he said.

“It has a singular responsibility to provide the best quality global news coverage to people in the UK and audiences who sorely need it around the world.

The Russian government is to spend at least 2.34 trillion roubles ($35bn, £23bn) to try to stave off an economic crisis, following a collapse in oil prices and the value of the rouble.

The country has also been subject to economic sanctions by the West over its involvement in the crisis in Ukraine.

Russia will spend most of the cash on federal loans, pensions and recapitalising its banks.

The country will also make public spending cuts.

Over the next three years most spending, apart military and social programmes, will be hit.

Earlier this month, the International Monetary Fund forecast that Russia’s economy will contract by 3% this year and 1% in 2016.

Rep. Tim Ryan (D-Ohio), a longtime opponent of abortion, announced in an op-ed on Tuesday that he now supports abortion rights after having talked to women in difficult circumstances throughout his home state.

“I have sat with women from Ohio and across the nation and heard them talk about their varying experiences: abusive relationships, financial hardship, health scares, rape and incest,” wrote Ryan. “These women gave me a better understanding of how complex and difficult certain situations can become. And while there are people of good conscience on both sides of this argument, one thing has become abundantly clear to me: the heavy hand of government must not make this decision for women and families.”

Here is what Change looks like in Greece:
The federal cleaing staffs that had been laid off due to austerity are back on the job.
Paid for by Hiring Fewer Consultants!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

That is an excellent blueprint for change everywhere. US Federal layoffs after 2008 were humonguous, but private highly paid contractors stayed in place. mmmmmmmm…………………………….

        Hi bella2758!

May I conclude that your Mom is from NC? Perhaps even that she resided in Durham, NC? Ms. Lynch’s father was the Pastor at a church in Durham, NC. That is one of my primary hometowns. I am SO proud of Ms. Lynch! I do a mind jig each time she is discussed. She will be among the great Attorneys General of our great nation. I am so thrilled she will be taking the place of AG Holder, who is my personal hero next to our POTUS!

We are blessed to live in this moment in our nation. Many people died so that we could see these events. We must fight to save all of the accomplishments gained by all of our leaders.
