I’ve heard the reports that the “device” that crashed onto the WH lawn was basically a dudebro adult toy, and that the government employee who lost control of his toy stepped forward and admitted it.

But what I don’t understand is why he was playing with his toy at 3 am. Does that make sense to anyone here?

      January 26, 2015 at 9:42 pm

      What photo?

    • January 26, 2015 at 9:43 pm

forus50, sometimes that’s the way it is. Maybe she wanted to stay home with her girls, who knows.

      • January 26, 2015 at 9:51 pm

Usually when FLOTUS goes on these trips she has things she does, she is not use to sitting around doing nothing. She goes to a school , gives a speech, or her and the wife of the PM will so visit a hospital, etc,, etc. There was no Mrs. Modi, plus I don’t think it would have been safe for FLOTUS to be running around to many places in India..

        • 35 forus50
          January 26, 2015 at 10:02 pm

bella, you are so right. I could be seeing something that isn’t there or if it is, it could be a million things; jet lag, worry about the girls or her Mom or as you suggest, not usually in a role of just being the spouse on a trip. I wonder if she’s going on to Saudi Arabia or headed back to DC? I can’t imagine POTUS feeling anything other than a sense of presidential duty to have to go there. Ughhh, those terrible Saudi rulers with the way they have no respect for women other than as objects for men.

          • January 26, 2015 at 10:14 pm

FLOTUS will be going to Saudi, POTUS will have dinner with the new King, but WH said FLOTUS will not attend the dinner. Afterward POTUS and FLOTUS will head to D.C. That’s what Mark Knoller said.

              January 26, 2015 at 10:46 pm

Women do not attend dinners with men in Saudi Arabia. Women eat together, men eat together. It is a VERY sex segregated society. I’m sure she’ll do something enjoyable for her…….maybe just take a nap! This trip has been pretty grueling, but it was important she went, I think. The Indian people really wanted to see her, and it meant a lot to them for her to be there. This was definitely a working trip, and I know when she is with him, PBO is happier. She knows that, and knew that after this past six months, he needed her on this trip. Too bad there were no interesting events for her, but hopefully she got some rest.

I’m glad there are good sleeping accommodations on AF!.

    // ……………………….

” Shortly after Mr. Kerry was sworn in last February, he issued a directive that all meetings between senior American diplomats and top foreign officials include a discussion of climate change. He put top climate policy specialists on his State Department personal staff. And he is pursuing smaller climate deals in forums like the Group of 20, the countries that make up the world’s largest economies.

“He’s approaching this creatively,” said Heather Zichal, who recently stepped down as Mr. Obama’s top climate adviser and worked for Mr. Kerry from 2002 to 2008. “He’s thinking strategically about using other forums.” ”

That’s the kind of behind-the-scenes effort that has gone into these two huge announcements with China and India. If all goes as planned, it is looking more and more possible that the nations of the world will reach a global climate treaty before the end of this year. Talk about a BFD!!!!

So let’s give a big shout-out to SoS John Kerry for his vision and work with President Obama to recognize the long game on climate policy.

It is hard not to feel bad that most of America is deprived of factual good news about Our President and First Lady representing us so skillfully in India. Millions of people are missing these glorious moments. And it is by design that citizens are misled and their attention restricted to nonsense. Not India. footballs.

United States President Barack Obama would “not drive” a motorbike after watching the daredevil motorcycle performance by Border Security Force personnel at the Republic Day parade on Monday.

“I would, by the way, not drive a motorcycle after watching those incredible acrobats,” Obama said, clearly overwhelmed by the performance of the ‘Jaanbaaz’ bike riders and their daring stunts.

His comments at the Indo-US Business Forum meet on Monday evening came hours after TV grabs showed him and US First Lady Michelle Obama cheering and giving the thumbs up to the BSF daredevils — famed for their formation of a human pyramid on moving bikes — during their stunning display at the parade.

Obama, the first US president to be the chief guest at the Republic Day celebrations, thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi for the invitation extended to him for joining “in this incredible Republic Day celebrations and (for) the hospitality that you have shown to me”.

“Today’s ceremony and the parade were truly spectacular, a moving tribute to India’s founding, its democracy, its progress,” he said.

In a jocular vein indicating the series of meetings and speeches Modi and he have made since Sunday, the US President said, “I felt that the Prime Minister must be tired by now, but what’s another speech between friends,” as he began his speech at the business meet.

Mr. Bobfr, VC, count me in.
I just can’t tolerate Hillary. I won ‘t tolerate Billary.
    Enough is a enough!

VP Biden can and will hold his own. Yes, even his mouth.
I believe he has learned from our young President and our young President has certainly gleaned from him.
This is a perfect match. I think VP Biden and Sen. Warren would be great.
If Chris Christy and Sarah Palin even think about it, they would not last on the same podium for an hour.
Christy is now turning his bully charm off and forcing his niceness up until the KKKoch bros. turn the tides for him.
Then the bully will appear. He turns this on like a faucet and the dumb ass Dems fall for it. The Repugs love this because this is who they are.
For the life of me I don’t know why they have not put this bully kid behind bars. If they don’t, the KKKoch bros. will have their way and their $$$ at his disposal. Trust me they are seriously working on it. While the Dems. pump up the volume one candidate, Hillary.
Would she dare have the nerve to run with that MIA Alison Grimes? She has not been seen or heard from in a minute.

Okay. I think I am getting cabin fever and the storm has not even got started yet.
Just knowing that the City has shut down is depressing enough. This is very difficult……
And I thought I wanted to live in Alaska? Never would have made it, absolutely not.

Knowing the President, it’s a clever strategy that will pay dividends in the months ahead. We all know he’s the chessmaster!

The only possible thing I can think of, in addition to agreeing that AF1 will have to be fumigated, is that the President hopes to take away the RWNJ talking point … that he couldn’t go here and he couldn’t go there but he’ll go to Saudi Arabia … by bringing some nutjobs along with him. Those same nutjobs can’t admit they’ll have any ulterior motives but respect for a country’s leader who’s departed, so the talking point goes silent.

I believe the lack of coverage on India is partly due to the out of touchness of many reporters and editors. Most of them are boomers who grew up with images of India, and for that matter, China, and starving children. They don’t see the growing and educated middle class of either nation, and assume they are still basket cases. While there is still widespread poverty due to centuries of neglect, these nations are increasingly players on the world stage. Each nation has about a billion people, and their middle class equals the size of the United States as a whole. There is a growing demand for just about everything, and if American companies can meet that demand, we prosper.
In addition, there is a growing rivalry between the two nations. America needs to be a broker between these nations in order to keep the peace. Add a volatile Pakistan that could collapse on itself, and America needs to be in the middle of this.

Another page for my growing blog:

    • 117 99ts
      January 27, 2015 at 7:55 am

Many of the reporters are way younger than most boomers – maybe the tail end of same. Boomers were born about the time India became a republic, breaking away from Britain. Perhaps because I was brought up in a commonwealth country we leaned much about India (and Pakistan) – but I would think the peaceful change in 1949 would have been well known in the US.

Reality – the US media DO NOT follow POTUS on overseas trips – unless he goes to a war zone. They hate that he is welcome in every country he visits – that there is only positive reactions to his visit and his policies.
