Thank you Chips and Nerdy for give us REAL news about PBO and FLOTUS trip to India and to Bobfr keeping us abreast of the goings on in UK. I and so many would not have a clue if we had to rely on the lazy-good-for-nothing America MSM.

Thank you so much for communicating PBO’s legacy of achievement in such powerful and effective ways. It brings tears to my eyes that we have this wonderful space to love on PBO and all of his great work. India is a colorful, complex partner. Sounds like Presidents Obama and Modi have forged a good relationship to benefit both our countries and make the world a bit safer from unsecured nukes.

  7. January 25, 2015 at 10:29 pm

I think Mother Nature must love our President. Can you imagine if he had to give his SOTU address this coming Tuesday – with all this blizzardry in the North East?!?!? Mother Nature held off and allowed him to give the SOTU address. Now he’s in India, she’s blowing away….

Our president is such a wonderful example of what an American president is supposed to be. He makes it his business to understand other people and cultures. Wherever he goes, he impresses those he meets and it shows. He goes seeking friends and common ground, not discord and war, and I think this is what pisses most republicans off. It’s a damn shame that citizens of other countries realize what a gem PBO is but many here can’t get past the fact that he happens to be black while “presidenting.”

      • January 25, 2015 at 11:36 pm

Well stated. The ignorance of a large part of the American people is not confined to race. It is a xenophobia that excludes any culture, any persons who are “the other” and “different” as well as persons of color.

US President Barack Obama to be Chief Guest at Republic Day Celebration: 10 Developments

Here are 10 developments in this story:

    1. The US president is expected to join President Pranab Mukherjee and Prime Minister Narendra Modi at Rajpath, the wide avenue in the heart of Delhi where the parade will take place, at 10 am (11:30pm EST)

    2. There is unprecedented security in the capital. A seven-layer security ring with 50,000 security personnel,
including 500 US Secret Service Agents, are part of the security detail for President Obama.

    3. The Delhi Police, said sources, has been asked to check people wearing black caps and mufflers, after intelligence that Maoists might try to stage protests.

    4. At Rajpath, there are 500 police officials trained in detecting suspicious movements in the public and among participants. They have been specifically trained to profile potential terrorists.

    5. The highlight of this year’s parade will be the indigenously developed surface-to-air Akash medium range missiles and weapon locating radar. The long-range advanced MiG-29K fighter will be seen for the first time.

    6. Three all-women marching contingents of the Army, Navy and the Air Force represent the theme of the parade, “Nari Shakti (woman power)”. Also, a display on the PM’s Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao (Save the daughter and educate her) campaign will lead the Republic Day floats.

    7. In the afternoon, the US President is expected to meet Congress leaders Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi and former prime minister Manmohan Singh, with whom he is said to share a special rapport. He will later attend President Pranab Mukherjee’s “At-home.”

    8. At 5.30 pm (4:00am EST), the US President will attend the India-US CEO Forum meeting at the hotel Taj Palace. Another meeting with business delegations from the two countries – India-US Business Summit – will take place later in the evening.

    9. Mr Obama, the first US president to be chief guest at the Republic Day celebrations, arrived with his wife Michelle on a three-day visit yesterday. PM Modi broke protocol and received President Obama at the airport, greeting him with a hug.

    10. A day of bonhomie between President Obama and PM Modi produced the most significant outcome of the visit; an agreement on the nuclear deal, which had been stalled for over six years.

Kareem Abdul-Jabbar is such an articulate intelligent person, who is truly well spoken.

Bill R., I concur. I personally will always respect Kareem Abdul-Jabbar because he changed a very dear and wonderful personal friend’s life in my life forever. That trade deal to the Lakers was a very special one indeed, and it gave a new meaning to all three of our lives, both personal and professional forever. That back up center trade to the Lakers was a most memorable center for the Center of the center of three young souls. However, Kareem has such a calmness about him that even makes his career and life one to appreciate and respect always, there are many of us, personally have much to be grateful for to him and for him in that trade. He treated me with such respect every time my friend and I were in his presence, and that was pretty awesome. A very dear and personal friend and gentleman in my inner circle for life. I will always cherish our friendship. That deal changed my life forever. Very grateful. HZ
