Of course they view confidence as cocky in THIS President.

    • 34 jackiegrumbacher
      January 21, 2015 at 9:42 am

Idiot NYT had to add ‘cocky’ because our president was sure of himself, having just reported the most astonishing success story in the history of any presidency and seeing the GOP sit on their hands about. He had to remind these hate-filled asses that when America and Americans succeed it’s good news, not cause for the sulks. If he had actually chosen to be cocky, he could have told the GOP that he accomplished all of this without their help and despite their constant obstruction.

You’re right, Jackie. This is why the White House is so smart to go around the MSM and give people multiple ways to access the State of the Union and interact with members of this administration. They detest him for that, too!

How many normal mortals could give a knockout speech before the nation and then wake up the next day, fly across the country and deliver another blockbuster. I swear some divine source of energy is filling our president right now. He’s left the sphere where people walk around and get tired and cranky and he’s soaring. He’s been working tirelessly for six years, but now he’s got some amazing second wind and he’s going to be scoring point after point until he and Michelle climb aboard that helicopter in January 2017 and go on to start another wonderful, inspired phase of their lives, while the rest of us sit and cry at the thought that he won’t be our president anymore.

    • 82 Vicki
      January 21, 2015 at 10:15 am

divine energy, well, ok, but I thought PBO’s voice was going towards the end last night. I hope he gets into his tea and honey routine or whatever it is he does to protect his voice for the next few days.
      PBO defines the word “Hero.”

    • January 21, 2015 at 10:44 am

Jackie…Jackie…listening to our President extol the accomplishments that has been wrought made me angry again at the DNC and their decision to try to save the bluedogg seats by courting that white racist vote…they had the nerve to dis our President…the man who beat big money…the lies and the MSM not once but twice and by overwhelming majorities….

this is the man DNC dissed….

      • 84 jackiegrumbacher
        January 21, 2015 at 12:41 pm

Pf, the level of my contempt for those Dems who turned from our President knows no bounds. But PBO has moved on from them and their idiocy. He’s soaring and they either go with him or get buried in the next election.

      January 21, 2015 at 12:23 pm

“He shall walk and not be weary.” That is one of my favorite verses. “He that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength.” Every now and again I place my hand on the computer when he is giving a speech and just pray for him. The man is covered; trust me he is protected by folks in heaven and folks here. Prayer still works!

    Here’s what I think.

  29. 99 Vicki
    January 21, 2015 at 10:21 am

Last night President Obama told the world that ISIL is not the giant threat the media (military sales and weapon manufacturers, war-mongers, etc) want you to think it is.

THAT is why the media is so angry today.

PBO compared the hysteria about Ebola with the hysteria about ISIL but he did it subtly.

The SOTU was a Happy Days Are Here Again speech and the dyspeptic always mad always trying to stir fear and hate GOP/MSM couldn’t do a thing to stop POTUS from taking a positive cheerful message to his people.

America is safe and prosperous and on its way to an even better future for more of its citizens. That is the message the 1% Corporatocracy does not want you to hear!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It is laughable to watch the Republican Stooges claiming that ” Spending is out of Control ” when they are the ones allocating all the money since 2011.

Do they even know we can hear them ?

    • January 21, 2015 at 10:54 am

I bet if the GOP wanted to start another war, spending wouldn’t be out of control. If the GOP wanted to give the rich a tax break, spending wouldn’t be out of control.

Since they know that their lies, spin and bullshit will go unchallenged by the media, the GOP is getting increasingly sloppy in their ongoing battle with reality. Their contempt for the 99% is of full display thru their constant deceit, cheating and trickery. The hatred they feel toward America was also on full display during the SOTU speech. They were literally mourning good news for the country.

One of the hallmarks of an effective leader is the ability to accurately diagnose a problem and bring in the people who have the skills to solve it. That’s exactly what President Obama did in appointing Klain. The fact that almost no one is talking about Ebola these days speaks volumes about the outcome.

One of the things that drives me crazy with whiny liberals: the notion that if PBO had acted differently earlier in his presidency the results would have been positive. How do they not realize that the GOP was prepared to do any damage they could to PBO no matter what he did or how he acted?

This SOTU is absolute proof: PBO had the swagger and FDR fight that the whiny left craved, and the GOP was ready with their reasons not to work with him, call him names, whatever. If he’s not weak, then he’s arrogant. They have an answer to EVERYTHING. And listen up, whiny left and MSM: this SOTU was reminiscent of scores of campaign speeches, if you’d ever paid attention. Now, this speech was a cut above, because the record is so stellar and PBO had no qualms about taking credit. But the TOD has seen this PBO time and again. Too bad the MSM never felt a responsibility to cover it.

GM all. Yesterday was sort of a bummer day. Didn’t even get a chance to watch the SOTU. However, I gather from comments here and elsewhere that it was a barnburner. The best way to judge how effective it was is not to listen to the praises, but to figure how much it bugged the GOP. And apparently it bugged them a lot. By that criteria alone it was a success.

    • 149 57andfemale
      January 21, 2015 at 11:46 am

      Hope you’re okay, japa.

Even Republicans on those focus-group meters liked the speech, especially the proposals.

Damned shame the country ceded government to 18% of the electorate.

    • January 21, 2015 at 11:54 am

Morning Japa! Oh, it was delicious just how much it bugged the GOP, Boehner’s face throughout it all was a picture!
